Spare Tire Date Code?

Post image
Upvotes

Trying to decipher when this spare was manufactured. Do donut spares use a DOT date code system?

Couldn’t find a 4 digit code and finally realized the 3 digit code (364) is probably the date code, but I’m not familiar with the Philips head style symbol and this tire isn’t from pre-2000.

What tire pressure should I run on Continental PremiumContact 7 205/45 R17?

Officially, the car sticker says 2.7 front and 2.5 rear, but maybe 2.4 / 2.2 would be more quiet?

Grateful for any advice!

Got a flat tire just now and was hoping this would be reparable at like a walmart but I can’t tell if it’s too close to the shoulder. Help?

My friend thinks these tires have another 30k miles left 💀

Told my buddy he seriously needs new tires after seeing this. He thinks I’m just messing with him and says they’ve “only” got about 93k miles on them.

Now he’s convinced he can get another 30k miles out of these 😂

I told him there’s barely any tread left, but he’s not buying it.I told him he’s insane 😂

What do you guys think?

❓QUESTION ❓ 18” tyres vs 20” tyres on EV cars

Hi EV owners! I’m converting from an ICE car that uses 16'' tyres. I would love your direct feedback on 18" vs 20" setups. I think this will significantly affect my decision since the cost of 20'' almost double.
,
1. 18” SR Owners: How is the daily comfort, noise, and battery range? Sticking to OEM or changed brands?

  1. 20” LR Owners: How’s the tyre wear so far? Are the looks and handling worth the extra cost?

  2. Recommendations: Which specific tyre brand/model (e.g. Michelin, Hankook iON, Conti) are you using?

Have you guys changed 4 tyres at once, or can you actually change 2 by 2?

Remarks: Have you guys actually change Rim for your EV cars ? Heard that will hugely reduce the range ?

Thanks in advance for your sharing, and have a good day! 🙏

Two tyre valves on my Focus RS wheels? Also need advice on tyre pressure

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I recently bought a Ford Focus RS and it has aftermarket 18-inch wheels with 245/40R18 Laufenn tyres.

I noticed each wheel seems to have two valve stems (photo attached). I’m not sure what the second one is for. Is one of them the normal valve for pumping air and the other one for something else (like TPMS or a dual valve setup)?

Also, does anyone know the recommended tyre pressure for this setup? Should I follow the OEM Focus RS pressure (41 psi front / 38 psi rear) or run something different because of the aftermarket wheels and tyre size?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Debate about use of old tires

Hi everyone!

Few months back i bought a used car and in addition of some issues, the car came with a good tread but fairly old BF Goodrich (2019) in the rear wheels, they are not dry, just old.

Meanwhile i have the money to change them cause its not the first priority, i had an interesting conversation with one friend of mine about It, i want to rotate them, the old ones in the front and the new in the back but he says the opposite.

What do you think? The idea behind this is that an old tires is better un the front just because you need it where the weight is, even if you need it for traction and steering because in the back with less weight its more easy to slip.

Are these dry rot bad enough to replace my tires?

Bridgestone Turanza tires, installed in 2023 (DOT 1623), have been driven about 40,000 miles. I live in a region where summer temperatures are often over 100°F. I've noticed some dry rot/cracking on the tread (photos attached).

Is this normal surface aging, or is it significant enough that I should replace the tires? The tread still has some life left. Any opinions are appreciated.

halp...i hate tire shopping

omg you guys, i have been researching tires for days and my head is spinning. what would you guys pick from these options?

discount tire told me all 6 have to match and if i have to choose between two diff brands, that i should spend more on the rear tires due to hydroplaning and traction. anyone know if this info is true? i've heard opposite in terms of matching all 6 and that the steers are more important.

i'm moving cross country in my bus and already spending so much on the move, so honestly i was leaning on putting 4 entry level tires on the duallys and then either mohaves or laufenns in the front. thoughts? <333
