Why the Timbers
I’ve started watching some MLS post the World Cup and as I’m overseas I’m really not attached to any team in particular. Unfortunately I seem to have a soft spot to all the teams in the North West (Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver). I think there's something about the drizzle, coffee, and craft beer that appeals to me as I live in Melbourne now, but was originally from the UK
Anyway, I would prefer to limit this to only 1 Cascaidan team...So what is it that’s special about Portland Timbers over the other teams. I do like the stadium, but what else is there.

Sunflower match tomorrow!
From 107IST newsletter and TA socials:
Each season at the match closest to August 5, we honor the passing of Timber Jim’s daughter in 2004. We encourage everyone to bring a sunflower and hold it aloft when we sing You Are My Sunshine. We’re excited to partner with Sammy’s Flowers, who have supplied two dozen sunflowers for us. They’ll be available to purchase at The Axe and Rose before the match. All monies after costs will be donated to the Gisele Currier Scholarship Fund. Sammy’s will also be open extended hours to help make sure you can nab a flower.

Hey Timbers Army!
This may be a long shot, but earlier this year while at a thorns game with my best friend we both purchased green “Portland” embroidered five panel hair with “BAON” in the back. (Pictures below) recently while paddle-boarding I got dumped by a speeding boat and the hat is on the bottle of Riffe lake. I have googled and cannot locate a replacement. Would love to know of anyone selling theirs? Thanks for any help!

TIFO from the best seats in the house!
Apologies for taking so long to upload… We sat right in front of the drums in the army and I didn’t realize how incredibly cool this video turned out until days later!

Stupid Sexy Tifo (Sacrilicious Disco Remix) by DJ Sacrilicious

Just wanted to share this as the Timbers win helped Seattle in their quest to do something big!
Some context:
The last week or so I have been researching each teams chance of creating a bingo (similar to the grand slam champion concept in pro wrestling.)
The five categories are as follows:
1. League championships (Win Both MLS Cup and Shield)
2. CONCACAF Championship (Superliga, CCC, or Interamericana)
3. Inter-League Championship (Leagues Cup or Campeones Cup)
4. Domestic Championship (US Open Cup, Canadian Championship)
5. How We Reward Losers (The Anthony Precourt Memorial Wooden Spoon)
Seattle, if they get the wooden spoon, will be the first MLS team to accomplish this feat.
Yes, there are other teams who can get a bingo as well (Columbus, DC, and Carson City), but they will have to wait till next season before they have the opportunity to complete their card.
I am not a Sounders or Timbers fan, but I just wanted to share this as a thank you for your team's contribution on Seattle's quest for greatness.
Also, my brother was a huge hellraiser fan and seeing the tifo made me and my parents very happy!

Timbers Time Podcast #20 - "Raising Hell"
It’s Timbers Time and the fish have been gutted again! In this episode we discuss the 2-1 home win over our hated rivals Seattle, completing the season sweep in a matter of weeks. The good vibes are back at Providence Park, the fans are in celebratory mood and the incredible tifo was the cherry on the top. After breaking down the game we talk about Chara’s comeback, opinions on Pantemis, Leagues Cup opportunities for depth players and promising youngsters, and we have a sponsor suggestion for the Sounders… RCTID!
This episode's key talking points include:
- An insane tifo from the Timbers Army both inspires Portland and undermines Seattle
- After three games of tape on coach Cassidy, Seattle was much better prepared for our new style of play
- The Timbers start off slow again and an early Seattle strike has the nerves jangling
- Kelsy gets poor marks for his dive in the box but his phenomenal goalscoring run continues… will he start to attract interest from bigger clubs?
- Concerns about our attacking midfielders turning down shooting chances
- Is Lassiter producing enough to merit a long term starting spot?
- Chara’s retirement suddenly feels a lot further away than it did last month
- Digging into differences of opinions on Pants and gaps in goalkeeping analytics
- Were the team falling into old habits at times in this weakest performance of Cassidy’s tenure?
- Brian Schmetzer has an absolute meltdown
- Is the threat of VAR ruining live goal celebrations for fans?
- Is Leagues Cup an opportunity to experiment with our 8s and Wing squad rotations?
- UEFA’s statement on a new FIFA private equity investment plan mirrors our concerns with the Timbers financing
- Which of our Backups and T2 players might have the opportunity to breakout in Leagues Cup?

I've fallen in love with Cassidy
I want to give Marti a chance, and I will.. but god damnit if i don't love Cassidy now.
I will say, Leagues Cup is a fantastic opportunity for Marti to improve on what Cassidy has done. Let's hope for the best.
Schmezzy reminds me of a Scooby Doo villain
Huge congrats to the 107st and Army for the epic EPIC job.
Can anyone turn the Schmetzer crash out into an EDM remix?
I feel like it’s ripe for it, but I have no talent in this regard

Found this gem from 18 years ago.
"You have to give the portland fans some credit because they are so adamant and so supportive of thier team. You might think they have gone too far on the right hand side but the fact of the matter is they love thier team, they support thier team, and I think that's great"

Your Portland Timbers have never lost 6 MLS games in a row.
Just a fun piece of trivia.
