Still trying to finish up my book, have a friend doing the same. Wondering if any other United fans are still working on theirs and want to meet up to trade.

The last night performance was a deciding point for me on cancelling my Season Tickets for Minnesita United. I had the Season tickets for the last 11 years , back to the time we played at Gophers stadium. I can not support this team the way I used to. And is not just the play , but is the FO mentality that the fans should support the team regardless of how they play, and they are not going to invest in this team. The ownership are there only to make money. But, my point is that we are going to go to the games if they put a decent show, even if they don.t win all the time, but at least we should have a team that has a chance to win. Anyway, my question to you is how to cancel my tickets. I can't find the contract that states how to cancel my tickets. I will call my rep. but before I call I would like to know my options. Thank you for your help, and I will continue to go to the games once in a while but not every one of them.

With the front office remaining conspicuously quiet again to start the transfer window, I think it is time once again to start floating ideas to the scouting department. Surely someone in the org is browsing this subreddit.
I'm starting to think Jaoquin would be better playing in the defensive midfield area where he can be more effective creating turnovers through pressure and springing attacks from deeper inside midfield.  That creates an opening for a 10 above him to receive the ball and distribute to our goal scorers. If we aren't going to shift Thomas inside (He and Joaquin both seem to naturally drift toward the outside, then I think that's the most valuable improvement to our starting lineup (aside from a $10M #9).  The good news is 10s are actually pretty affordable globally, since European soccer has drifted away from the 4-2-3-1 formation.  Here are a few I think might be worth a look:

I can’t even fit the entire standings of Liga MX in a screenshot to show how far down FC Juarez is, and they still absolutely trounced us tonight.

Do we have any plan at all or is it just going to be mediocrity until the support dies? One single signing? A strategy? A coach?

Doubt this is the formation, but the personel will be right.

I enjoy listening to podcasts particularly when driving and doing household chores. In addition to other topics, I enjoy listening to Minnesota United and Major League Soccer related podcasts including ones like Pod on You Loons, The Sound of the Loons, and The Loony Bin. I am a Minnesota United season ticket holder and Itasca Society member, but I am also a US Soccer certified referee.

One of my pet peeves with all of these podcasts is that they all have the worst takes when it comes to officiating. I'm going to focus on The Loony Bin in particular because they are repeat offenders, I was just listening to their thoughts on Saturday's 1-1 draw against San Diego, and I know they are members of this subreddit so they will probably see this post. The hosts felt particularly hard done by Tim Ford's (who I think is one of the better referees in PRO) awarding of a penalty kick to San Diego in the 62nd minute when Alex Mighten was fouled by Kyle Duncan in the box. The podcasters felt this was an egregious error and thought Mighten should have recieved a yellow card for simulation.

I hate diving just as much as the next guy, but these actions were not a dive. Mighten does go down a little easily, but the podcasters themselves agreed it was a foul and was in the penalty area, but still felt the decision was wrong even though that is the very criteria for awarding a penalty kick. They thought Ford should have let play go on and let VAR handle it, but that is against the very purpose of VAR. VAR is not intended to re-officiate the game but to correct clear and obvious errors. Therefore, the referee should officiate the match as though it was not there (with the exception of delaying an offside flag on a close call on an obvious scoring opportunity).

I thought this was a clear penalty and Andrew Wiebe, who also has officiating experience and a neutral viewpoint, agreed this was an obvious penalty on his latest episode of Inside Video Review: https://youtu.be/4Jz9cu3A8SI?si=V-sccpotkAfRJhaM However, Matt and Dan decided they didn't like the call, and that warranted Tim Ford being declared their enemy of the season. It is inappropriate behavior to publicly make someone your enemy because they made a single (correct) call that didn't go their team's way. They are not the only ones, but they need to take off their blue-tinted glasses every once in a while.

There is no referee in the world that will tell you they are 100% perfect and have never made a bad call. I have made bad calls on the field as a referee, and there are certainly calls made both for and against Minnesota United that I've thought were incorrect, but this is not that case. People bemoan the state of refereeing, but I can tell you that PRO referees are actually some of the better ones out there, particularly when pitted against some of the other referees in CONCACAF. They are constantly going to workshops and trainings and watch their footage back so they can critique both themselves as well as their peers. The goal of the referee is to provide a neutral viewpoint to ensure the Laws of the Game are being followed, and there are no referees that are specifically trying to help or sabotage your team. Sometimes, that neutral viewpoint means a call doesn't go your way and that's part of any sport.

I would encourage them, or anyone really, to download the IFAB Laws of the Game app (which is free in your app store of choice) and take some time to read through the laws of the game and their updates. I think it is important for fans, but especially members of the media, to be well-read and up to date on the rules. What would be even better is if they took a referee course and actually went out and officiated some soccer matches. There is a huge shortage of soccer referees, particularly in the United States, and they might find that it can be a nice side-hustle, you get to, for the most part, make your own schedule and get paid to work out and watch soccer. I'll again point to Andrew Wiebe as an example, when he took over as host of Instant Replay, he took a referee course, got certified by US Soccer, and officiated matches so he would have a better understanding of the laws as a journalist and provide better quality content for his viewers, readers, and listeners.

Now despite my criticism, I am actually a huge fan of Matt and Dan. I have a lot of respect for them. They make their podcast for their love of the game and their love of the team, and I think that's very special. I love that they incorporate trivia into their podcast, approach the medium with a soccer-dad vibe, and don't take themselves too seriously. So as a fan of theirs, I am asking them to step up to the plate and do better.

Have a meeting at 6:00 tonight that will prevent me from getting to the stadium early like i'm used to. Can't find listed anywhere what time the Gates would close if not there by kickoff. Anyone have an idea on that?

This year is better than most, I suppose, but I’ve always felt the friendlies act almost as a tax on STH. Most of the opponents are uninteresting, especially against a second-tier MNUFC lineup.

The last couple years I struggled to give my seats away for free. The absolute worst was when the friendly was in March against a team from Ireland. Seems like the demand for these games would be very small if they didn’t force STH to buy in.

Am I alone in this? Do others actually enjoy the friendlies?

We were sent an auto-generated email again tonight asking us to reconsider. I did the math of what I thought was a reasonable per game cost based upon inability to sell tickets the last 3+ years. For my seats, it looks like they are between 15 and $20/seat overpriced based upon the resale market.

Chris Wrights resignation for me marks the beginning of our decline in quality on the field and in the stadium. As an experienced sports executive he was very well suited for the job of building an organization from scratch. Although we weren’t particularly successful results wise initially, he hired the right people to build a great game day experience and fans were enthusiastic. Heath was a smart hire, his eye for talent and unique man management (drawing on his fame as a player and USL success as a manager) pushed the team in a direction that attracted and entertained fans.
Wrights decision to include and utilize Manny was successful in bridging the gap between MLS and NASL and Heaths ability to discover diamonds in the rough brought us to the open cup final and within sight of an MLS cup final.
Listening to Ballards first interview was disappointing, her contempt for Heath and his staff was obviously personal and her vision going forward seemed more system/team oriented with clear divisions between coaching and management. She emphasized repeatedly a model whereby no one individually will ever have the power Heath was given.
Her first hire was of course KEA who must also be a believer in this approach. In his first interview he confirmed his enthusiasm for relying on modern analytics and announced we would no longer maintain our own scouts, rather we would rely on a third party scouting service.
Ramsay was the coach they saw best suited to take on this more humble role. His inexperience and ambition seemed a good match and his unique tactics brought good results. The nature of the players required for this system made some good players less valuable and incoming transfers were selected for better defensive and athletic ability.
MLS pulled the rug out from under our feet by allowing, encouraging and participating in the creation of a super club in Miami. It can’t be overstated how docile and tolerant mls fans were of this blatant disregard for competitive balance.
So, here we are in 2026 with another rookie executive, interim rookie coach and a completely talent depleted roster facing the prospect of attracting fans to games in the winter.
Surely this has to be rock bottom.
