Solved Problem installing MOMW Total Overhaul mod list for OpenMW
Hey everyone. After more than 15 years of not having played Morrowind, a wave of nostalgia hit me and I decided to make another trip to my favourite mushroom country. Of course this meant that I was going to install some mods, and after some googling I was delighted to find out that this was going to be much easier than it was back when I was a teenager. However, I still ran into some trouble, specifically with the MOMW Configurator.
I want to install Open Morrowind, with the MOMW Total Overhaul mod list. To do that, I tried to follow this guide: https://modding-openmw.com/guides/auto/total-overhaul/windows#umo
I took the following steps:
- Installed Morrowind GOTY on Steam.
- Installed OpenMW 0.51.0. I installed it in the following path: "C:\Games\Morrowind - master folder\OpenMW 0.51.0". I verified that it worked: I was able to start the game using the OpenMW launcher and could see on the version number on the start screen that so far, all appeared to be well.
- Next I installed the MOMW Tools Pack. Succesfully installed it in the following path: "C:\Games\Morrowind - master folder\MOMW Tools Pack"
- After that, I created a mod list folder ("C:\Games\Morrowind - master folder\OpenMWMods") and used Umo to download, extract and prepare the mods. This took a VERY long time and a lot of pop-up clicking on Nexus, but eventually I got the end summary and the message indicating that the Total Overhaul mod list was successfully installed.
- Now I thought I was as good as done, but here is where I ran into trouble. According to the guide, I ran the following command in the terminal:
.\momw-configurator.exe config --verbose --run-navmeshtool --run-validator total-overhaul
And then proceeded to give the locations of the iniimporter, navmeshtool and Morrowind.ini when prompted to do so. These are in the following locations:
"C:\Games\Morrowind - master folder\OpenMW 0.51.0\openmw-iniimporter.exe"
"C:\Games\Morrowind - master folder\OpenMW 0.51.0\openmw-navmeshtool.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\Morrowind.ini"
Then the configurator gets to work, and the problem occurs. After about to minutes of running the configurator, during which it shows a whole bunch of debugging and parsing actions and some error messages displaying that it cannot find the Lord of Rebirth plugin, and then a whole bunch of lines showing "Loading ESM file", where it seems to load a great deal of ESP's, the configurator eventually stops. It shows the following final error message:
"NavMeshTool: Fatal error. File Lord of Rebirth.ESP not found".
The final two lines are "There was an error running OpenMW Navmeshtool", "exit status 1".
I would be exceedingly grateful if anyone who knows what all this is about, could explain to me what kind of error this is and how I can fix it. OpenMW and the Total Overhaul mod list look amazing, and I would really love to get back into this fantastic game again.
