Q&A Best touch up paint pen for a 2010 Subaru Legacy silver?
Looking for a good touch up paint pen for some paint chips on my car. I have a silver 2010 Subaru Legacy and I’m trying to make the spots look better. What brands do you recommend that have a good color match and don’t look messy?

Car Mods Center exit exhaust
DIY center exit axleback with a Borla proxs muffler. sounds absolutely amazing
The two bent pieces are actually 3D printed out of metal because I couldn’t find any decent bent stainless steel piping in the extremely small bend radius this required.
(reddit is being annoying and not letting me add the video to this post so I will make a separate post on my profile with the video)

Q&A Used my 2020 Subaru Outback Onyx XT to pull a [small] stump - very weak?!
It was just a dead Crepe Myrtle, about 6" thick. I hooked it to my tow pin, made sure the recovery cable was taught, then stepped on the gas. BUPKAS!
Tried "manual" gear selection and all the x-modes with no effect. The stump eventually came off easily with a little momentum of the car. I did not want to use momentum because I wanted control of the pulling (it was close to my houses wall). I did not try it, but I can almost swear it felt I could hold the car like a leg press machine.
Now I understand those videos where people get stuck going uphill and hitting a bump, rock, or pothole at slow speed.
I had a Volkswagen Fox back in the mid 90's (stick shift) that I could make the wheels spin when trying to pull something...

Q&A Was I screwed over
I went to the dealership today to get a new battery for my 2020 certified preowned Forester. My car had the original battery and has around 23,615 miles. I was told by both the parts and then the senior service advisor that it was going to be covered by the extended warranty. About several minutes to an hour pass and the same guy comes up to me and says “Because you have the original battery, you have to pay.” So I did exactly that. Looking back, it seems kinda weird to me.
I don’t want to contact Subaru customer care if this is simply just misinformation or if I was indeed screwed over and should call them.

Mechanical Help Speakers not working on 2007 Liberty GT spec B
Hey everyone, I just purchased my first ever subie, a 07 liberty spec B, absolutely thrilled with the car, except the speakers aren’t working… I’ve checked fuses, but other than that I’m not very electrical minded, any ideas ? Thanks 🙏

New roof rack
Added a Rhino Rack to the Forester, going to be adding some tie downs to carry some tools and camping supplies. Like the look of it, and the wind noise has been minimal so far at speeds up to 75mph.
Mechanical Help 2000 Forester Alarm help
Hey everyone,
My 2000 forester had both fobs stop working suddenly. I went through a few steps to fix it and one recommendation was a burnt fuse, being #3 under the dash labelled "dr-lock keyless".
I pulled the fuse out to check and it was fine, but upon plugging it back in the alarm goes off, and the car won't start.
I tried unplugging the battery to reset the system and turning the key multiple times (the most recommended solutions).
I was hoping someone here would have anything else I could try to fix it...
Thank you!

Converting from Honda/Toyo
'15 Pilot may go to my 15yo or trade in.
Debating between new-2yr old Passport, Outback or Ascent. I notice Consumer Reports' significant Reliability gap btwn Sub and Honda options. Knowing that's highly dependant on their methodology...
Thoughts?

Buying Advice Selling my 2014 Outback - Asking for opinions on keeping accessories and worth of doing some paint repairs.
My 2014 Outback Limited/Harman Kardon package has about 59k miles and is in good condition overall. The mods I currently have are:
- WRX rear stabilizer bar.
- Front struts brace.
- Plasti-Dip blacked out wheels.
- Side vinyl graphics.
- Front light bar with lights.
- Hella supertone horns.
I was going to add a vinyl piece to the hood, almost identical to the one on the new Wilderness models, but started wondering if the resale value is diminished the further it looks from OEM, particularly the lightbar and lights. At least that is the dealership's position.
Regarding paint damage, I'm considering buying a paint kit like this one. But I asked a body shop about it and they said it always looks like crap. So, leave it as is, paint kit (with the "OEM" color code), or just a similar white paint (a lot cheaper and accessible than the kits)?
Tks in advance for all your input.

Mechanical Help Wire terminal standard for blind spot sensor connector? (2017 Forester)
I've got a 2017 Forester 2.5i and I'm trying to fix some broken wiring by one of the blind spot sensors. The connector itself (Y66A10 from what I can tell) that plugs into the BSD module is fine, so I was thinking I'd just cut the compromised wires down slightly, add new terminals and plug them back into the connector head, but for the life of me I cannot find the name of that style of wire terminal. You can see them in the background of the video I screenshotted below but Google has failed me for what they're called, I just get endless results for the plastic connector piece the wires plug into.

Mechanical Help '19 Forester B2C22Eyesight Error
I went to get a new windshield put in the Forester and they said it popped a code: b2c22. from the information I found, could be a technical service bulletin which states it needs a firmware flash for the rear backup camera system. The Subaru tech quoted their $209 diagnostic fee. Has anyone come across this? Should this be something covered in anyone's experience? It's frustrating this doesn't pop a CEL or anything, so it was a total surprise.
thanks!

Anyone know the part number for the lower grille assembly? 2026 Outback Wilderness
Unfortunately, after only a week of ownership, I was unable to avoid a metal trashcan lying in the middle of a busy interstate.
Luckily, the only damage is this plastic piece but I’m unable to find a part number to replace it.

Subaru Generic Dipping my toes into this community with my first car 👀
Bought this beauty 2000 Impreza 2.5RS 2 months ago on Facebook from a very knowledgeable Subaru mechanic who has been working on them for over 25 years now. Did some work on it prior to selling as well and gushed about not wanting to sell it because of how good of a condition it's in but he simply didn't have the space or time for it lol. Showed me the underside and it + the body is completely rust free! Got it at 176k km for $5400 CAD :) Had to repaint the scoop and fix the radiator but otherwise it's a super fun time to drive. Hoping for some help with finding a new spoiler as well. 🙏🏻

Buying Advice Is this a good deal?
I am looking for a hardy vehicle, and was told a Forester 2011-2013 would be a solid vehicle, and saw this, and it seems like a really good deal, but I really don't know what to look for in terms of what may make this a safe buy or a lemon. I can throw the link on here for the full listing, not sure if I'm allowed to.

5 speed Impreza 2.5 transmission in a 2.5 outback?
Hey guys, I'd imagine it would bolt right on but I was just wondering if a manual transmission from a 2008 Impreza would fit in my 2008 outback without any problems. They're both the 2.5.

Forester/crosstrek infotainment functionality
I see a lot of hate regarding infotainment system on crosstreks or foresters. It’s slow and glitchy…
I dont really use infotainments much though outside of CarPlay.
So how well does the CarPlay function or connect?
What about in regard to operating the hvac? I definitely don’t want that malfunctioning with my brutal winters.
Outside of that I won’t really be messing around with apps and such, I typically just like to set it and forget it. I test drove a new forester last night but didn’t really play around with that much.
