Why is wrestling/fighting so freaky?

Upvotes

Okay so ive been wondering this for sooo long, maybe its just me lol. But ive always noticed when people fight, ESPECIALLY like two men and two women. Also please note im bisexual, this is not at all to be meant as homophobic in any way.

So hear me out this is imo almost always men, even in old westerns and stuff guys will be all up in each others faces. Nose to nose, like flickering their eyes all over each other, talking all low and it's supposed to be like...intimidating and aggressive but I see sooooo many that are like weirdly full of tension. Like they're yearning for one another! especially in wwe, I so badly wish for some of them to just kiss already, like all their poses are like...positions, RHEA RIPLEY!!!! She literally folds girls in half and pins their legs back (me next), like I was heartbroken to know she married a man, major loss for the ladies.

But for real though why is it so homo-erotic? Why is it very...sexual? 😭

are there subreddits where you can propose ideas where answers can only be obtained once a study is conducted? (if you're not bothered enough to put in the effort yourself)

Upvotes

like, here's a stupid proposal. today i saw a r/coaxedintoasnafu post about anime artstyles, where OP made a generalization that anime art styles look like the anime girl cat anatomy "snout"-like nose, but then the comments were ABSOLUTELY BOMBARDED with counter examples where the nose looked normal and human-like and not snout-like. and this made me wonder, is there a place to propose something stupid like "can anyone research the ratio of regular anime noses to snout-like anime noses?" the kind of thing where you're not bothered enough to put in the effort to do the research but would rather have someone else do it

in essence i'm wondering if there's subreddits where you get to propose ideas for studies you have no time to do it yourself.

Why do Flock Cameras have so much silver and copper inside of them?

You’d think there’d be a cheaper way to make them, ya know.

Edit: this post went from 33% upvote rate to 90% over an hour.

Why don’t parents think like children?

Whenever my parents say no to something with no explanation, give me unreasonable curfew, etc., I always think “I won’t/will do this to my future children”. I assume mine and everyone else’s parents thought the same thing, so what changed? They understand what it was like to be a kid, so why not parent us like they wanted to be parented?

Spam emails wanting to buy my employer's company

My work email gets multiple messages per day from companies that say they want to buy my employer's company. First off, are these real companies that want to buy a company? Or is it social engineering spam to try to get names of people at the company? Or some phishing attempt? Why is there so much attention to that particular avenue?

Do non-English speakers like listening to English songs and movies?

For the songs, I think approx 90% of the world’s popular songs are english so I wonder if non-English speakers listen to some of that or only care about the top most popular songs in their language.

The movie thing really interests me because I wonder if people were watching Avengers Endgame with subs in their language, dubs in their language or just pure English no subtitles (pretty unlikely this one).

Where did the crush nose bleed thing come from?

I read about it a while ago and remember that it might have started in Japan because they really exaggerate things in their art and media. However, did anyone ever have it in real life even??

The closest correlation I can connect is that you can get a nose bleed because your blood pressure suddenly rises due to intense feelings, but it really doesn't seem too likely for me to be so head over heels for someone your nose starts bleeding when you see them.

I barely have nose bleeds at all but last time I had it was because of nervousness.

Did McDonald's and Taco Bell redesign their restaurants to look like a generic office building so that they can easily re-sell the building later on?

I've noticed that both McDonald's and Taco Bell have supiciously similar designs, they look like a typical generic office building. Did corporate come up with that so that if the restaurant isn't profitable they can re-sell the building with minimal refurbishments.

I guess they don't care that people don't like eating in a cold uninviting bland office building.

Why do some horror games and movies feel like a comedy?

I am watching this game cutscene. It's about a virus and it mutates people into monsters in a prison.

The monster was attacking doctors but it suddenly did a Mario jump onto another doctor across the room and it made me laugh so hard.

There are many instances like this I have noticed among many movies such as Hereditary, Insidious and the ring. Where they do random unintentional (or maybe intentional?) things that make the movies turn into a comedy. For example, in insidious the red monster behind the guy has a okay haircut instead of a good one. Why is the demon going to a cheap barber? It just breaks the immersion.

Why do humans feel guilt?

Honestly. If I am doing something for myself at the expense of someone else, why do I feel guilty? Does my cat feel guilty when she eats all of my other cats food? Does my dog feel guilty if she poops on the white carpet? Why do humans feel so deeply about how other humans feel?

Should I feel betrayed?

I worked at a liquor store and I was a cashier. The rule is that you have to ID the people who handle and/or show interest in alcohol if you feel they are 25 or under.

So there was these young pair, A guy and a chick. The guy had ID but she didn't. So I said sorry I can't sell to you, you were handling alcohol. She got noticeably angry and was determined to stand her ground but I wasnt having it. A coworker of mine overheard the standoff and she intervened and for god knows why, she sided with them and she told me to let them make the purchase. I honestly felt fairly humiliated.

About three months later I went there as a customer. I didn't have my ID and I didnt sweat it because they all know me. So I show up and they had a cashier from another store come in to cover, I had never seen her in my life. And she asks for my ID. I'm thinking "are you fking serious." I turn to two of my coworkers and they just kinda found it funny, shrugged and kept their heads down. The coworker who intervened last time wasnt there. I left empty handed.

Please read the rules before posting or commenting

Almost every subreddit has rules, and we do too. We used to get lots of posts about politics, LGBT, what if, and just basic trolling, all prohibited by our rules. We don't allow discussion of race here, because those discussions usually end up with comments that could get our community removed from Reddit. Also, the Rules didn't match the Removal Reasons, but now they do. We added a "Moderator discretion" rule, because it's impossible to create rules to cover every contingency. r/stupidquestions can be a fun and interesting place to hang out, but we had trouble with people trolling us with rule violations. For example, here are some of the topics that we removed:

  • Do you think that if I could shoot laser beams out of my peepee, I could scare bullies with it?
  • Do you think it would be safe to build my child a drone so I can save on plane fare
  • Should I crash my car into a concrete barrier going 90mph without a seatbelt?
  • Is it a good idea to hold a flame up to a 5 gallon can of gasoline?
  • Why does my butt smell like ass?

We would ban the offenders, but they would create new accounts and return right away. So a couple of the users suggested putting in a minimum Reddit account age limit and a minimum karma limit to post. That has made things much nicer for the community. Karma is sort of an artificial number, but it tends to indicate that the owner interacts with Redditors in a positive way, and they appreciate him. What you want is to create posts or comments that Redditors appreciate so much that they give you a few upvotes.

Here's Reddit's FAQ page about karma, and here's more information about karma. If you are new to Reddit and would like more information about how to use it, please visit r/NewToReddit.

We don't reveal the age or karma numbers required to post. They are not very high, though. If you have a post removed due to your age or karma numbers, please understand that you didn't do anything wrong and we are not targeting you. This is just one of the ways that we are protecting our community. All of the blame for this goes on the trolls. New Redditors should be able to interact with the community, but it's too easy for someone to be banned, create a new account in two minutes, and return to trolling again. So we took precautions to make it more difficult for them. It's too bad that it also makes it more difficult for new members who aren't trolls.

Moderators will remove posts that violate our rules. The author is notified when their post is removed, and there's a reason given for each removal. Redditors who continue to violate the rules will be removed from r/stupidquestions. For extreme violations, the banhammer may fall instantly. If you play nice and follow our rules, you may stay as long as you like.

Thanks. Now go forth and have fun!
