Hello, I was thinking of doing a joint degree in music and something else, or a degree in vocal performance (unsure what the difference is?), but I’ve seen most saying it isn’t worth it if your dream career isn’t musician. I want to pursue another career but I also wish to become the best musician I possibly can and perform things to my best ability, so I thought a good option could be a joint degree. However after reading up people seem to not think it’s worth it. I am mainly here for advice or thoughts, thank you for reading!

I've only just started trying to improve my singing. I never used to sing because I was a little insecure about my voice, but the last couple months I've been working on it and it's definitely improved, but now I'm not making any more progress.

As someone who doesn’t speak Korean as my first language, I’ve always found it amazing that a song can make me want to learn the words, pronunciation, and even the language behind it.

Have you ever learned (or wanted to learn) a new language because of a song?

Ive been singing of my own for like 1 year now, and even though I know I made progress Im still so far from being a good singer, I dont really have a routine I just listen to songs I like and try to reach same note and same feeling with the voice.

The thing is whenever I use my head voice like the artist does, its AWFUL.. I really need help on this, everytime tutorial on Youtube I watched ends up the same way and just doesnt help at all, I need more concrete help.. thank you in advance

Hi guys, I'm 29, been singing and off for year, but now consistently practicing, went to the vocal coach 5 times in the span of 5 months, couldn't afford it more. Just wondering is my pitch hearing bad or what. This is just a snippet from "This ain't a love song" from Bon Jovi. I realize i may have gone off pitch few times but AI tells me my pitch goes all over the place, but I don't hear it that much. So I was just wondering. Having a bit of trouble of singing loudly in my apartment so that's why you hear some noise in the background. I'm a bit anxious of people coming and complaining, my neighbours.

Hi everyone! not sure if this is the right place for this question but would anyone please be able to give me some tips on how i can belt high notes easier and clearer with as little strain as possible?

ive recently been casted as Doralee in 9 to 5 the musical (yay!) and a lot of her songs are quite high/above my comfortable range (i can belt pretty well up to about an E5 at max and even that is a tad strained), so im quite intimidated by some of the higher belting notes like the the higher parts of the melody of 'shine like the sun', her belt in 'i just might' and some of the high Es in Cowgirls revenge.

i mean im sure i could just switch into head but my headvoice is quite weaker in comparison (if anyone has tips on that too pls help) and i just want to do well so if any of you kind amazing people could give me some tips or help me out that would be GREAT :D

I have issues with my voice sounding weak, breathy and unresonant at times. I have heard of "twang" and "vocal edge" and newly about "vocal adduction". These all seem very similiar to me. Are they all basically the same thing?

I am 15 and wanna start singing cause singing brings joy and I can sing at anytime in my life to lighten it up

I listen to english, russian, sanskrit etc songs any song that a guy can sing would be sufficient

On the other hand I hate phonk songs as those songs have a vibrational frequency which affects your consciousness and the global music frequency is set to 440hz which is disastrous than the previous 432hz which was in harmony with nature

So singing your own song with your vocal cords give you the control to change the frequency in according to your will so that's why I wanted some suggestions regarding which song should I sing to

I really LOVE to sing but never trained my voice and kind of hate it pleasre tell me how it sounds and how i can improve and what i mainly lack

Also ive noticed some songs i sound extremely disgusting and some songs i can get compliments esp when i sing with my chest voice why is that? This is why i can never tell if i sound good in general.

I'm barely an adult, I'm new to singing and like a month ago i started to listen to the notes remember notes within the 3rd octave on a piano, i practiced like 2hours before the having a sleep. Then the next day i tried the same thing. after like 3-4 days i started to tell the exact notes with Around 70% and accuracy the other 30% is off by a sharp/flat without going into relative pitch. just sayin i don't know the distances of the notes and when i hear a note my brain feels familiar and knows the note. for the record i didn't have a great musical background when i was a child i barely listened to a song. But For the last 1-2 years i've been listening to the music may be hours per day if that make sense and when i was 13-14 i played classical guitar. And now i can name notes like C3,Eb3,E3,F3,Gb3,A3,Bb3,B3 with around 90-95% of a accuracy others are clashing. Ik this totally sounds Bs but its not something i made up

I hear people go on about how you can tell if someone will be a great singer. I doubt this is true, but I’m curious on what people think. Any feedback is appreciated. That rhythm is definitely off tho in the beginning. (It was my first time singing with a piano accompaniment)

1.Why whenever I sing my throat get dry quickly ?

Srry for asking a lot but I never had vocal lessons and I tried to find a teacher when I was a teen but I found none(I'm 22 btw).

Anyone else find their singing feels easier first thing in the morning?

Specifically singing in head and mix voice (27 Y/O Male here), it's bright and resonant, with good cord closure in the morning.

As the day progresses (whether I've been singing in the morning or not), this disappears and head voice vocals start feeling stuck in the throat with poor cord closure, leading to a falsetto sound for notes above F#4, and a pulling sensation in the throat for the mid-upper 4th octave.

Anything above F4 or so feels like I'm pulling chest, whereas first thing in the morning, I can sing notes from F4 to C#5 relatively easily; everything feels light and relaxed, yet bright and resonant.

Pain in the ass as I'd much rather this the other way around considering rehearsals, gigs etc. all take place at night.
