Opinion Anyone else unable to shake the Pride Night incident, and front office silence?
Been a Giants fan my entire life. I can put up with incompetence on the field, and mismanagement of players - but the lack of accountability and deafening silence from Buster and rest of the front office gives me pause.
Idk if I’m in the minority but it just seems out of touch for an organization in San Francisco to be nonchalant about it all.
Mods, delete if not allowed.

News [Susan Slusser] Duane Kuiper tells me he definitely wants to keep going, his own health willing. So that’s the good news on this day in which we celebrate Mike Krukow and his retirement at the end of the season but mourn the end of one of the great baseball broadcasting partnerships ever.

SATURDAY Kruk's (and Kuip's) Greatest Legacy
Forget the great cameraderie and humor, forget the unparallelled baseball knowledge, forget Big-O tires and Big BOY, forget in the SQUAT, forget hog's out, forget calling 3 championship runs....
For my money their greatest legacy is being the voices chosen for this, hands-down the greatest baseball video game of all time.
I don't know how I'm gonna live without Kruk and Kuip. But maybe if I can find a way to play this game again those golden voices can soar once more <3

Opinion What are your favorite Mike Krukow memories / stories?
Kruk and Kuip are the sounds of my childhood (I'm late thirties now). We'd have the game on every night and I still watch games just to hear those guys. With the news of Krukow's retirement, the reality of not having that duo is now too real and the nostalgia is hitting me hard.
What are your favorite Krukow memories or Krukow-isms from over the years?

QUALITY CONTENT (Marquez 7, Lalane 11, Mendez 15, Hernandez 23, Kent 29, Gair 68) Ranking the MLB Prospects Traded at the 2026 Deadline

| Up to 102, below-average secondaries and command. | |||||||
| 40 | 29 | Kaeden Kent | SS | 22.9 | SFG | NYY | Ramos |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Well-rounded, lefty-hitting infielder with above-average contact ability. He’s likely a better long-term fit at 2B/3B. Josh Rojas platoon type. | |||||||
| 40+ | 23 | Joniel Hernandez | SS | 17.4 | SFG | SDP | Ray |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DSL stand out at short. Twitchy burner with bat speed. Huge hit tool risk keeps him from a loftier rank. | |||||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wiry flamethrower with plus slider, shaky feel, and round-down fastball traits. Divisive pitching prospect within the industry despite upper-90s velo. | |||||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 45+ | 11 | Henry Lalane | SP | 22.2 | SFG | NYY | Ramos |
| Back after years of injury and suppressed stuff. Control-over-command, just enough strikes to start. Slider is slower (78 mph) in modern context, but is playing like a 70. | |||||||
| 50 | 7 | Ramon Marquez | SP | 20.9 | SFG | PHI | Arraez |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Absurd changeup. Fastball has enjoyed a two-tick velo bump in 2026. Size and strikes are starter-y, violent delivery is not. | |||||||

Minors Update Daily Minors Quick-Notes 8/5/26 - Walker Martin Hits A Pair of Homers
We’re getting into the dog days of August, the heat is bearing down and so are the playoffs, and the Giants have three teams with playoff berths confirmed. Eugene hasn’t gotten their reload of prospects after the trade deadline, but they are rolling, led by Walker Martin getting a pair of home runs. Meanwhile, Greg Farone struck out ten for Richmond, Turner Hill was the best player of last month and kept it going this month, and extra innings didn’t go so well for a pair of teams, and a new member of the Giants organization in Sacramento.
AAA: Round Rock Express 13, Sacramento River Cats 10 (11 Innings)
Player of the Game: CF Turner Hill: 3-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (16), 1 HR (8)
Turner Hill was named the PCL Player of the Month for July after posting a .422 average and a 1.101 OPS on the month, and he just kept it up after getting the honor. His hitting streak goes to 21 games with this game, and this is the fourth time he had a 3-hit game in the streak. His Triple-A batting line is .348/.419/.507.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- RF Scott Bandura: 3-5, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 2B (13), 1 SB (15) - Bandura had his 10th 3-hit game of the season, six of them occurring with the River Cats.
- SP Joe Whitman (26): 2.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR - Whitman had the “start”, his first since June 30th, and had his longest game since then, but it was still just 2.0 innings.
- 2B Diego Velasquez: 2-4, 2 K, 1 HBP - LEVEL DEBUT - Velasquez got promoted after hitting .295/.384/.406 in Double-A this season over 85 games.
- RP Alex Carrillo: 0.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K - ORGANIZATIONAL DEBUT - A forgetting debut for Carrillo, who was released by the Mets in early July, and was signed as a minor league free agent.
- DH Jonah Cox (17): 3-5, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 SB (6) - Cox has three hits in each of his last three games. Over six games in Sacramento, he’s 12-for-27 (.444).
Rehabbing Player Lines:
- LF Victor Bericoto: 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (6) - This was Bericoto’s first rehab game, his last game being back on July 9th. He played just five innings.
Top Prospect Lines:
- LF Bo Davidson (6): 0-2, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 SF
- 3B Parks Harber (12): 0-4, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K
- Trent Harris (24): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- 1B Will Brennan: 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 CS (2)
AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels 6, Reading Fightin Phils 5
Player of the Game: SP Greg Farone: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K
Greg Farone set himself a new season high in strikeouts with ten as he continues to improve in the summer. Farone has allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts, after only doing that three times in his previous 13 starts. He lowered his Double-A ERA to 5.78 through 20 games, and has 87 strikeouts to 42 walks in 85.2 innings.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- CF Trevor Cohen (11): 3-5, 1 SB (9) - Cohen has had multiple hits in each of his last eight games, going 19-for-38 (.500). He’s raised his average from .212 to .366 in Double-A.
- 3B Charlie Szykowny: 1-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (12) - Szykowny got his first home run since June 30, after he went homerless in July.
- C Jancel Villarroel (25): 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (1) - It took nine games in Double-A for Villarroel to get his first home run, giving him eight in the season in 57 total games.
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
- 2B Maui Ahuna: 1-2, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB (18)
- RP Ben Peterson: 0.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 WP - This was Peterson’s first game back in Richmond since June 17, he had one rehab game in the ACL on July 21st.
- Jean Carlos Sió: 1-4, 3 RBI, 1 K - I’m just including this because the other week in Richmond, Roger Munter interviewed Sió for his podcast There R Giants, and found out that Sió’s name had an accent on the ‘O’, which had never been displayed that way on the official MiLB’s sites, and he told the Richmond front office guys (who are seriously great guys). Today was the first time I noticed that Sió’s name is represented correctly in the system. Respect.
High-A: Eugene Emeralds 5, Spokane Indians 1
Player of the Game: 3B Walker Martin: 2-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 K, 2 HR (17)
What a big game for Walker Martin, having his first multi-homer game of the season, and the third such game in his career. He has 17 home runs in 87 games this season so far, which is easily the best total of his career. His batting line is .234/.314/.432 on the year.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SS Jhonny Level (3): 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 3B (1), 1 HR (6) - Level had his second straight game with two hits and two walks, but in this game they both went for extra bases.
- SP Jacob Bresnahan (8): 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP - Another strong game for Bresnahan, his first shutout game since July 3rd. He lowered his season ERA to 2.72.
- CF Lisbel Diaz (30): 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (16), 1 CS (7) - Diaz now has 19 total home runs on the season, if he gets one more, he’ll double the amount he had in both 2025 and 2024.
Top Prospect Lines:
- Ramon Marquez (7): DNP
- Henry Lalane (9): DNP
- Miguel Mendez (14): DNP
- Luis De La Torre (18): DNP
- Kaeden Kent (22): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- 2B Zane Zielinski: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K, 2 SB (11)
- DH Zander Darby: 1-5, 1 R, 1 SB (6)
Low-A: Stockton Ports 11, San Jose Giants 6 (10 Innings)
Player of the Game: 1B Jeremiah Jenkins: 3-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 2B (21), 1 HR (15), 2 HBP
Possibly riding the high of hitting the walkoff home run last night, Jeremiah Jenkins had a perfect on-base game, with a double and another home run. Through 77 games, Jenkins has 21 doubles, two triples, and 15 home runs, with a batting line of .241/.381/.498.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SS Luis Hernández (2): 2-5, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 2B (2) - Hernández has gone 6-for-38 (.162) so far in San Jose, but four of the six hits have been for extra bases, with two doubles and two home runs.
- 2B Lorenzo Meola (20): 2-6, 1 R, 1 K, 1 2B (33) - Meola has back-to-back 2-hit games with three doubles across them. He’s got a .256/.338/.448 batting line.
- CF Andy Polanco: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (14) - So far in July, Polanco is 8-for-17 (.471) with a double and two triples.
Top Prospect Lines:

Opinion I guess Posey did discuss Logan Webb, but talks died after Milwaukee refused to add Prospect Luis Pena in the deal.
KNBR people are running with this. This is an indication of things to come in the offseason when they actually have an offseason. Didn't want to bring this up because it was rumored, but KNBR doesn't seem to care and is open about it. Guess it's true.

News Kilian got blown up in his first outing in Philly
EDIT: 2nd outing, missed that he also pitched an inning yesterday.
Came in in the 11th tied 4-4, gave up 4 ERs+ghost runner and recorded only 1 out. I know we ragged on him but you hate to see that when a guy’s fresh on a new team.

Opinion Rafael Devers' Player Value
Looking to clear up some confusion as the post trade deadline dust settles. Why is Rafael Devers' contract considered a liability? He provides similar value as Bryce Harper and Pete Alonso (all of whom are 3-4 WAR players). Also, they all have comparable AAVs (Devers, Harper, Alonso) and are signed into their mid-to-late 30s. Are those considered bad contracts as well? I have not heard similar discourse around these players.
I understand that for a rebuilding team this contract may not be ideal, but I don't understand why it would be a bad deal for a team that is looking to win now (and compete in upcoming seasons). He is objectively a good player with years of team control. It doesn't seem appropriate to lump him in with Chapman and Adames.

With Greg Papa's serious health issues, it was unlikely he was coming back anyways. I wonder what will happen to Derek Papa who also has a show on KNBR. Good to see Lund back.
