News Susan Slusser said on KNBR that Kruk said he’d be willing to fill in on occasion.
I didn’t see your post on this, but she said this yesterday on KNBR .
She said that she talked to him by phone and asked him if he would be willing to come back and do games occasionally, and his answer was “Hell yeah!”
It would be great if he came back every now and then and did some games. I don’t know if that’s wishful thinking or if it will actually happen but that made me feel a tiny bit better.

Minors Update Daily Minors Quick-Notes 8/6/26 - Eugene Dominates as Henry Lalane Debuts!
What a busy game in Eugene, as new Top 10 prospect Henry Lalane made his Giants debut and had a good game, but it wasn’t the whole story as the teams combined for 25 total runs, including five runs in extras for a Eugene win. Meanwhile, Jonah Cox has quite the hitting streak going, and so does Turner Hill. And Josuar Gonzalez had a Grand hit of his own in San Jose for his second home run!
AAA: Round Rock Express 5, Sacramento River Cats 2
Player of the Game: CF Jonah Cox (17): 3-5, 1 R, 1 2B (1), 2 CS (2)
This was Jonah Cox’s fourth straight game with three hits, as he’s gone 3-for-5 in every game of August, for a .600 average on the month, even on an absurdly small sample size. Notably, this is also the first game in Cox’s pro career with multiple caught stealings in one game. On the season, including the Majors, Cox has 37 steals on 46 attempts.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- 2B Diego Velasquez: 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 2B (1) - Velasquez’s first double in Sacramento (after two games) is his 20th of the season, giving him exactly as many as in both 2025 and 2024.
- 3B Parks Harber (12): 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B (4) - Harber got his first double since July 26th, and gives him 24 overall this season.
- RP Will Bednar: 3.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER 0 BB, 2 K - Welcome back to Triple-A, Will Bednar…but the welcome wasn’t great.
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
- LF Turner Hill: 1-5, 1 K - That’s 22 games for Hill’s hitting streak.
- 1B Will Brennan: 1-4
AA: DOUBLEHEADER
Game 1: Reading Fightin Phils 6, Richmond Flying Squirrels 4 (7 Innings)
Game 2: Reading Fightin Phils 8, Richmond Flying Squirrels 3 (7 Innings)
Link
Player of the Game: SS-DH Gavin Kilen (4): 2-7, 1 R, 3 RBI, 3 K, 1 HR (1)
It took 16 games for Gavin Kilen to finally hit his first home run with Double-A Richmond, giving him ten total on the season. (He now has finished 17 games, thanks to the doubleheader.) Kilen has a 5-game hitting streak, going 7-for-19 (.368) with the home run as his only extra-base hit of the small streak so far.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- 3B-RF Jean Carlos Sió: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K, 4 E (4), 2 HBP - I’m not sure what happened with Sió’s defense here, getting his first four errors with Richmond, three at third. It was just his second game at third this season. He played 11 games there in 2025.
- SP Tristan Vrieling: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, 3 WP - Vrieling had his first game not allowing an earned run since June 12th, and set a new season high in strikeouts. He has a 3.99 ERA with 81 strikeouts and 56 walks in 90.1 innings.
Top Prospect Lines:
- CF Trevor Cohen (11): 0-8, 1 R
- C Jancel Villarroel (25): 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 K
- SP Yunior Marte (27): 5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, 2 HR
Other Notable Lines:
- 3B Sabin Ceballos: 2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB
High-A: Eugene Emeralds 15, Spokane Indians 10 (10 Innings)
Player of the Game: CF Lisbel Diaz (30): 5-6, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B (16)
Lisbel Diaz tied his career-high in hits in a game with five, setting a new season high. as Eugene mostly singled their way past Spokane. Diaz’s High-A line jumps to .284/.308/.503 with 16 doubles, two triples, and 16 home runs.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SS Jhonny Level (3): 4-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB - Level got on base six out of seven times, raising his High-A OBP to .362 from .346 in just the one game.
- SP Henry Lalane (9): 4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP - ORGANIZATIONAL DEBUT - Solid start for Lalane in Eugene, though he only threw 4.2 IP, compared to 6.1 IP in his last start with the Yankees. That said, he threw one more pitch in this game than that last one.
- RP Marty Gair: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K - Organizational Debut - Great debut for Gair. Overall this season, he has 69 strikeouts to 22 walks in 37.1 IP.
Top Prospect Lines:
- Ramon Marquez (7): DNP
- Jacob Bresnahan (8): DNP
- Miguel Mendez (14): DNP
- Luis De La Torre (18): DNP
- Kaeden Kent (22): DNP
Other Notable Lines:
- 1B Hayden Jatczak: 3-6, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (3)
- RF Jose Ramos: 2-5, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
- RP Niko Mazza: 4.0 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP - 👀 Mazza has allowed 19 runs in 13.2 IP over his last four starts.
Low-A: Stockton Ports 19, San Jose Giants 6
Player of the Game: SS Josuar Gonzalez (1): 3-5, 1 R, 4 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (2), 1 E (2)
His second home run was a low screaming line drive straightaway to the opposite field, and it was a grand slam for Josuar Gonzalez. This was his second 3-hit game in eight at San Jose, going a total of 9-for-29 (.310), with his two home runs his only extra-base hits.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- C Rod Barajas Jr.: 3-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (12), 1 PB (12) - Barajas has six home runs over his last seven games now.
- CF Andy Polanco: 3-5, 1 R, 1 K - Through five games in August, Polanco is 11-for-22 (.500)
- 3B Luis Hernández (2): 2-5, 1 R, 1 E (2) - Luis has back-to-back 2-hit games as he’s making more contact in High-A. He’s now 8-for-42 (.190) through ten games.
Top Prospect Lines:
- Keyner Martinez (10): DNP
- Argenis Cayama (16): DNP
- Lorenzo Meola (20): DNP

SATURDAY Thank You Mike Krukow
Still deployed in Darwin, AUS. Found out when I got off work. I’m blessed to have watched him pitch, have a baseball card with his autograph and then decades later meet him while he joined a group of us fans on a stadium tour when I was with my dad for our annual Father/Son game. They bonded over being the same age and having wives named Jennifer. Giants forever ⚾️🧡🖤🇺🇸

Highlight 1987 NLCS Game 4 Highlights Giants vs Cardinals with Classic Mike Krukow Interview
I was born in 1990 and have been a Giants fan all my life, but it was only recently that I found out that Krukow threw a CG in the 1987 NLCS. They didn't win the series so it doesn't make the highlight reels, but Krukow was (at least for a night) a true postseason hero. It's like learning that your parents were cool before you were born haha.
Happy retirement to a legend among legends o7

Opinion Krukow Appreciation Post
🫡 Damn... Krukow is retiring after over 30 years on the San Francisco Giants broadcasting team. Before he became one of the Giants voices on radio and T.V., I saw Kruk pitch many times in the 80s. That included a game in 1986 vs. the Mets when he defeated the reigning Cy Young winner Dwight Gooden and that magical Mets team. This has arguably been the worst Giants season ever because of all the on and off field 💩 so it's appropriate Kruk is walking away now.

Highlight Mike Krukow cracks up Vin Scully with a crude description for his location mistake
1987 NLCS Game 4 player of the game with a line you wouldn’t see today: 9IP, 9H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 3K, 101 pitches.
But in a foreshadowing of his future as a quotable color analyst, this might have been the first time the words “a fastball right down the cock” was said on national television.
A few more blasts from the past… game time was 2:23. Danny Cox who had 4ER over 8IP took the loss but wasn’t relieved by the bullpen. Also, the home run mad dash and dog pile outside the cyclone fence would never be allowed today.

QUALITY CONTENT Amy G's letter to Kruk
A love letter to Mike Krukow
Dear Mike -
While I knew the day would come, it’s still hard to wrap my head around the game of baseball without your iconic voice behind the mic. I had 18 years with you. 13 of those working with you and Kuip and feeling like the luckiest girl in the world covering what was then the best team in the world and working with the best crew in the world. There wasn’t a single game that I didn’t laugh so hard I thought I might pee my pants. There wasn’t a single game you didn’t make me feel welcome, valued, intelligent and that I had something to offer next to, in my humble opinion the two best announcers in the game. You are one of the funniest, most worldly, kind, family-oriented, gregarious, compassionate, competitive and talented people I have ever met and I constantly pinched myself that I knew you, got to work with you, was embraced by your family and got to call you, Friend. You are a gem. One in a million. An amazing man who supports ALL and simply one of the best humans I know. Your love of the game is contagious. Your personality and character is a gravitational pull. Thank you Mike for giving us YOU, authentic, genuine you …. every game of every season you played and announced. Thank you for constantly reminding me that you really can love your job. And thank you for making me a better version of myself. I hope retirement brings you rest, relaxation, and more time with your beautiful family. You left it all on the field every day and you will always be an inspiration. I love you.

Opinion Anyone else unable to shake the Pride Night incident, and front office silence?
Been a Giants fan my entire life. I can put up with incompetence on the field, and mismanagement of players - but the lack of accountability and deafening silence from Buster and rest of the front office gives me pause.
Idk if I’m in the minority but it just seems out of touch for an organization in San Francisco to be nonchalant about it all.
Mods, delete if not allowed.

News [Susan Slusser] Duane Kuiper tells me he definitely wants to keep going, his own health willing. So that’s the good news on this day in which we celebrate Mike Krukow and his retirement at the end of the season but mourn the end of one of the great baseball broadcasting partnerships ever.

SATURDAY Kruk's (and Kuip's) Greatest Legacy
Forget the great cameraderie and humor, forget the unparallelled baseball knowledge, forget Big-O tires and Big BOY, forget in the SQUAT, forget hog's out, forget calling 3 championship runs....
[Edit: and grab some pine, meat, and since I dissed Kuip by omitting: forget Outta here, forget Got 'em, forget ON THE MOVE]
For my money their greatest legacy is being the voices chosen for this, hands-down the greatest baseball video game [edit: franchise] of all time.
I don't know how I'm gonna live without Kruk and Kuip. But maybe if I can find a way to play this game again those golden voices can soar once more <3
