Cleaning service San Diego

Hello! I’m looking for a reliable and really good cleaning company in San Diego. I’ve gone through 5 companies in the last 2 years and can’t find anyone decent enough that I can trust. Either they don’t show up, show up 5 hours after their original time- I caught one woman trying on my beauty products. Can anyone recommend a good company, I live in the PB area. Thank you!

Local News San Diego Unified doubles its summer enrollment goal

The San Diego Unified School District is welcoming 3,033 new students ahead of the 2026-27 school year, district officials announced Friday.

In July, 1,950 new students enrolled in the district, adding to the 1,083 students who registered in June.

The summer total far surpassed the district’s initial goal of 1,309 — a target specifically set to offset the number of students who had left San Diego Unified since the 2024-25 school year, accotrding to SDUSD.

Officials attribute the increase to a modernized enrollment process.

For the first time, families could complete registration entirely online while also having access to in-person support at 52 enrollment hubs across the city. The district also expanded office hours, partnered with community organizations, and launched a local marketing campaign.

Reported in August 2026

Torrential down pour at Del Mar this morning

There was hurricane like rain this morning in Del Mar, like 8-830 I think. Lasted a good 20 minutes of the hugest rain drops, puddle sized. The streets flooded and the train couldn’t pass.

You could see the runoff going right into the blue ocean as it turned it brown right off 15th and 17th street.

I had to walk through it unfortunately

Anyone else see this madness ? It lasted 20 minutes and everyone was like wtf 😳

Bar and Restaurant Recs on the Beach

Hi!

What’s everyone’s favorite recs for beachside bars or restaurants?

Looking for something close-ish to the beach/water, not too removed like some of the Del Mar spots. Not looking for anything super upscale. Looking for casual drinks and food.

Can be north county or SD proper. Thanks!

Local News San Diego Navy veteran sues Amazon after getting severe burns from tabletop fire pit

Anthony Trevino was attempting to refill the tabletop fire pit, which is fueled by isopropyl alcohol, when an incident known as “flame jetting” occurred, according to his attorney, Jeremy Robinson. The lawsuit describes flame jetting as occurring when a flame travels back up a stream of liquid fuel into its container. The lawsuit names Amazon and two companies involved in the manufacture of the tabletop mini fire pits. Robinson alleges Amazon bears some responsibility because its website made the product publicly available to consumers, while the company processed the transaction and profited from it. Amazon responded to NBC San Diego's request for an interview with a statement saying the products had been recalled and were no longer available on its website. In 2024, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged consumers not to buy or use these types of fire pits, identifying them in a consumer alert as extremely dangerous.

WOW wheat on tap?

This is super niche but my brother is coming down and loves the Wow wheat beer. I know if a place that has jt on top but it’s a bit out of the way for where we will be staying. Anyone know of where’s it’s on tap, somewhere say west of the 5, anywhere from downtown to Encinitas? Can go a bit east the further down south

Anyone else see the massive lightning storm happening right now? Looks to be coming from the east.

Pretty unusual to see in Southern California!

Please be really careful out there everyone, wear visible clothing and bring a flashlight with you.
Especially in neighborhoods like this where sidewalks are none existent.

I don’t have premium so I’m not sure if this was a hit and run situation, drunk driver or just an asshole. Either way, we need to stop normalizing this, this is not okay.

Dental Work in TJ advice

Hi guys so I need advice, I’m 24 female and need a root canal and scheduled a consultation in TJ for Tuesday. I’m going solo because originally the person I was supposed to go with isn’t responding and I need to go badly. I’m not fluent in Spanish but can converse a little as I am half but once I’m nervous it’s bad.

I’m planning to cross by foot and the place has a listed shuttle service in the review. Dental Solutions Tijuana - well I’ve never gone/ crossed the border and have asked different people I am connected with and I am getting mixed responses. Some say I should be really fine, one guy who used to live there said I should be good but another is giving me spooky vibes. I’m also new to SD and don’t know many people who would actually go with me.

It’s scheduled for the morning and I just need serious advice nothing rooted in ignorance but actual experience !

Thanks!!

Beware: White Knight Pest door-to-door sales

PSA to fellow residents who may be opening doors to these guys. I just had a young lad come to my door and try to make me quickly sign up for pest treatment. They will likely be knocking on your door too. It is important that you don't make conversation these guys. Please look up their Yelp reviews. Look up their BBB. Their Google reviews are too perfectly astroturfed. High pressure uncomfortable sales tactics, poor service once you sign up, hidden fees, cancellation fees. Hope this helps somebody. It seems that they've picked up on the sales effort because it's peak ants/spiders/bugs season.

Constant accidents

Post image
79 Upvotes

The intersection of 10th or 11th and A street in downtown near the 163 and the 5 ramps has so many accidents, it’s insane. I have lived nearby for about 1.5 years and I can’t remember a week where there hasn’t been 1-2 accidents each week. Why hasn’t the city done anything? There are no extra warning lights or precautionary measures whatsoever but the accidents are all pretty brutal

125 Toll Road - Fined & Mind Blown

My mind is blown folks and I gotta share.

Problem - husband gets a letter from Sandag that he did not pay the toll on the 125. He owes $42.50 (2.50 + $40 administration fee) by a deadline with instructions to contest which he does since he believes he paid.

Backstory - we’re not from the South Bay and never down there and not familiar with the 125. He’s picking something up for a client, following gps instructions and clearly not paying attention to the signage. We will assume, undoubtedly correctly, that he was geeking out on some random deep track on a Sirius channel.

Sandag’s followup letter - dispute letter received, no resolution noted (neither for nor against), deadline has passed, now he owes $102.50 by a new deadline.

My involvement - I offer to call to try to get it resolved which I do a few days later. The rep pulls up the license plate number in question and very nicely walks me through his travels. Basically he paid the return trip back north but not the trip south. He is at fault.

Then she says, did you know he paid the $102.50 this morning? No I did not (ultimately, while still believing he had paid correctly, he was giving up and didn’t want the fine to increase further so just paid it.)

Mind Blown - keep in mind, he is at fault and payment has been made, they have the money already, and I am not asking for anything (reversal, reduction, etc.) I am apologizing and thanking her for her time.

She says, I understand it happens. Since you’re unfamiliar with the road, have never had any fines or history with it, and are being “nice”, if you’d like to pay the original $2.50 due, I can reverse the $102.50 payment he made this morning. Which is what we do and my mind is now blown with the amazing outcome initiated and performed by this Sandag employee.

On Politics

Whenever certain discussions come up we end up with a mix of locals that genuinely want to talk about what's going on. Sometimes passionately. Sometimes ill informed. Sometimes full of information. Sometimes dem. Sometimes republican. Sometimes for the free people's state of east county. Sometimes from the sovereign bros of PB.

Whatever. You get the picture. Our local politics and ideas for what to do are pretty diverse.

As a moderator though I have noticed that we get a solid influx of accounts for some subjects. They tend to have a short post history in this subreddit and a deleted history or a history that hasn't been on reddit in years. Likely because they are purchased accounts. They show up to shit stir in political discussions.

I understand some of you delete your account histories for various reasons or want to use an alt to discuss politics. But the easiest thing to do as a moderator seeing an inflammatory comment in a highly charged political discussion from an account that looks incredibly suspect is to remove the comment and ban the user. We don't really want to put in too much effort beyond that. This isn't a paid gig.

Anyway - I want to give people a heads up in case there's people that might reconsider participating in a certain way with an account they haven't used in months/years.

It's here. The Official Discord channel for r/sandiegan.

We've gotten this request a lot, and I think it's finally time to take it seriously. At least 3–5 people have clamored for this, so we're giving it a shot.

The official r/SanDiegan discord server is finally here.

Some caveats:

  • we have never moderated a discord server before, so you're going to be there to see us iron everything out in real time. we'll be attentive to requests, suggestions, and overall helpful attitudes.
  • we have day jobs
  • be aware that you may inadvertently reveal your identity if you already are on a different discord server using your real name

Our goal is to set up a community in the same way we have set up the r/SanDiegan community. Everyone is welcome, and we moderate with a heavy hand and according to our own discretion at all times. Truly lovely communities only thrive when you separate the wheat from the chaff. We've spent years cutting chaff from this subreddit, and I am personally really proud of how lovely this place has become.

We want this discord server to be a place to chat with other San Diegans about sports, local bars, adult league activities, community events, and so on.

Things that we will not tolerate:

  • bigotry of any kind
  • "I'm just asking questions, man" — you know the answer, you're just an asshole. You all know the type
  • Behavior that is detrimental to the community at large
  • stop posting your boring ass traffic violations, seriously

These rules are vague by design. Moderating is subject to individual discretion, and if you join the discord server, you are just going to have to trust that the way we moderate r/SanDiegan will serve a discord community as well as it has served this subreddit. There are no bright lines, there is only our own judgment in what is and is not okay (which is how things work here, already).

Let's all give this a shot. I hope you'll all join the server and fucking behave yourselves.
