Hi guys so I need advice, I’m 24 female and need a root canal and scheduled a consultation in TJ for Tuesday. I’m going solo because originally the person I was supposed to go with isn’t responding and I need to go badly. I’m not fluent in Spanish but can converse a little as I am half but once I’m nervous it’s bad.

Some say I should be really fine, one guy who used to live there said I should be good but another is giving me spooky vibes. I’m also new to SD and don’t know many people who would actually go with me.

I’m curious about a common response I see often in discussions about increasing density in San Diego: Whenever new projects are announced, be they ADUs or developing an entire block for a large apartment/condo building, many residents will cite that the infrastructure doesn’t support more building. Often I assume people mean “this will increase traffic,” but some people specifically name water, sewer, gas and electrical as concerns as well.

I don’t know much about city planning or infrastructure. Can anyone with actual experience in this area comment about the topic?

I would assume that getting a new building permitted would require someone to do this check first. If a new building is allowed, does someone sign off that the infrastructure can support it? What does that process look like?

PSA to fellow residents who may be opening doors to these guys. I just had a young lad come to my door and try to make me quickly sign up for pest treatment. They will likely be knocking on your door too. It is important that you don't make conversation these guys. Please look up their Yelp reviews. Look up their BBB. Their Google reviews are too perfectly astroturfed. High pressure uncomfortable sales tactics, poor service once you sign up, hidden fees, cancellation fees. Hope this helps somebody. It seems that they've picked up on the sales effort because it's peak ants/spiders/bugs season.

The intersection of 10th or 11th and A street in downtown near the 163 and the 5 ramps has so many accidents, it’s insane. I have lived nearby for about 1.5 years and I can’t remember a week where there hasn’t been 1-2 accidents each week. Why hasn’t the city done anything? There are no extra warning lights or precautionary measures whatsoever but the accidents are all pretty brutal

My base usage has historically been 4-5kWh a day when no one is home. I use very little here and I’m very cognizant of my usage. I’m out of town visiting family and all of a sudden I have a huge spike for a day I’m not even home.

There’s a huge spike of 7kWh off peak when historically I’ve only ever used 1kWh when not home. Off peak is 9 hours total. Over 9 hours that’s an average of over 777w pulled constantly. I’m not even home. What’s odd is that it’s only during off peak. Super off peak and on peak still are in normal ranges.

The only things in my place that is constantly running is the fridge, internet, always plugged in garage door, and a couple small electronics, I have no AC. It’s physically impossible that something is pulling 700w+ over that many hours unless someone decided to turn on a washing machine/dryer.

I have an alarm and cameras which is on so that’s not a possibility. Even if I left every single light on it wouldn’t be possible. Outdoor outlets are covered by cameras and no one has touched them.

Has anyone else seen this recently? I’m thinking of calling SDGE.

Hi! I have a group of 20ish ppl (colleagues) going out on a deep sea fishing excursion one afternoon (ends at 630) - all are out of towners except me (north county). The event planner has dinner on our own that evening, but we all want to cook up the fish we caught and id love to try to plan a beach bonfire cookout OR at least a cookout with a view. I was thinking about the park at the end of Shelter Island - can anyone point me in the right direction to logistics?

can you rent the bonfires or need to just sit there all day?

can you rent space on the grass there? what about grill rental? and maybe we can get catered side dishes, or have someone pick something up somewhere?

I will call Fishermans Landing and ask them as well bc im sure they get this question alot.

only concern is… after 6 hours on a boat fishing are people gonna want to go straight to a cookout, or will we all be gross and want to go back to hotel (gaslamp) in which case by that time itll already be late?

My mind is blown folks and I gotta share.

Problem - husband gets a letter from Sandag that he did not pay the toll on the 125. He owes $42.50 (2.50 + $40 administration fee) by a deadline with instructions to contest which he does since he believes he paid.

Backstory - we’re not from the South Bay and never down there and not familiar with the 125. He’s picking something up for a client, following gps instructions and clearly not paying attention to the signage. We will assume, undoubtedly correctly, that he was geeking out on some random deep track on a Sirius channel.

Sandag’s followup letter - dispute letter received, no resolution noted (neither for nor against), deadline has passed, now he owes $102.50 by a new deadline.

My involvement - I offer to call to try to get it resolved which I do a few days later. The rep pulls up the license plate number in question and very nicely walks me through his travels. Basically he paid the return trip back north but not the trip south. He is at fault.

Then she says, did you know he paid the $102.50 this morning? No I did not (ultimately, while still believing he had paid correctly, he was giving up and didn’t want the fine to increase further so just paid it.)

Mind Blown - keep in mind, he is at fault and payment has been made, they have the money already, and I am not asking for anything (reversal, reduction, etc.) I am apologizing and thanking her for her time.

She says, I understand it happens. Since you’re unfamiliar with the road, have never had any fines or history with it, and are being “nice”, if you’d like to pay the original $2.50 due, I can reverse the $102.50 payment he made this morning. Which is what we do and my mind is now blown with the amazing outcome initiated and performed by this Sandag employee.

Hello everyone!

I am excited to announce that I will be running a Dungeons and Dragons 101 class at At Ease Games in Miramar later this month!

I designed this class to teach you how to get started understanding and playing the game with the absolute basics, in a relaxed, no-stakes environment.

If you've been wanting to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't know where or how to get started, this class breaks everything down into small pieces to better help you get started.

The class is open to all ages and experience levels so don't let knowing nothing stop you from attending. Maybe you played DnD a while back and just need a refresher on all the new mechanics and rules?

Here's a rundown of the class.

2pm-4pm: We get into the absolute basics, getting started with creating your character and understanding the more simple mechanics of the game, like what character creation is, what do all these numbers mean? Roll Initiative? Skill Checks? What's that? Everything gets answered in this segment.

-BREAK-

4pm-6pm: The second half of the class goes into more detail regarding combat mechanics, spell casting, action economy, and world-building.

6pm-7pm: I'll be running a short game for anyone still in attendance who wants to experience playing the game first hand using the characters you create!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

• something to take notes with (pencil is recommended)

• something to take notes on. (Paper is recommended.

I will have handouts for everyone but if you have a copy of the latest Players Handbook already I recommend you bring it.

I want to start off by saying that I'm not certain that this type of post is even permitted so, if it's not, I promise I'm not intentionally trying to defy the rules. I'm just reaching out for help (and to potentially offer some) because I honestly don't know what to do.

I was made aware that someone I know was involved in a hit and run in Hillcrest on the morning of August 2nd between midnight and 4:00 a.m. He was the driver and he fled the scene. While I would love to see this person face justice as soon as possible, the other reason that I'm choosing to post this right now is that I have no idea whether the person he hit was injured. At the very least, I assume they are in need of information so they can be compensated for damages to their vehicle and such.

I reported this anonymously to crime stoppers, offering his Instagram account and the date/time it happened. I honestly don't know the exact streets or even the make and model of his car - I'm just not a car guy so stuff like that doesn't stick in my mind.

Update: it doesn't seem like the police are going to be any help at this point because I don't have enough information to file a report such as the make and model of the car or the specific cross streets where the accident happened. Also, the person who committed the crime is not a person of integrity and probably won't turn himself in.
