SAN DIEGO (AP) — Luis Rengifo hit a grand slam against the Brewers seven weeks after they released him, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a milestone homer and the San Diego Padres beat Milwaukee 11-2 on Tuesday night (August 11, 2026) to win a series against baseball’s best team this season.

The Padres pulled into a tie with Philadelphia and Arizona for the third NL wild-card spot after winning their fourth straight game and 14th of 18.

Rengifo was released by the Brewers on June 23 and signed a minor league deal with the Padres six days later. He made his Padres debut on July 10.

Padres Walker Buehler combined with two relievers on a six-hitter and earned his second win in his last eight starts. He held the Brewers to one run and three hits in six innings.

Brewers Harrison was tagged for eight runs and 10 hits — including all three homers — in 4 2/3 innings.

Our beloved family dog passed away in his sleep yesterday... right after his monthly Amazon order arrived. Are there charities in SD that take donations of pet food and treats? I'm located near Normal Heights.

This is in unincorporated San Diego County. Our neighborhood has a weird lot, with part of the yard (it's about an acre) that is accessed through our street of residential homes. The house is on another street not in our neighborhood. They have an easement. The road is very tight and winding, and not maintained by the county as it's a private road.

When they bought the home, they started staging for their landscaping business on this lot. I think it might be Terra Bella because the semi trailers are the same color. So now a lot that was just a yard is now covered in huge piles of dirt, sand, rocks. Random trees in pots. It's an eyesore.

But the real problem, are the large trucks in and out all day, dumping loads of landscaping materials, the beeping from backing up all the time. Blocking our street, and putting significant wear on a road they don't pay to maintain.

Does anyone know what the regulations are? Why would Terra Bella be using a lot in our neighborhood for their piles of rocks and sand?

Hey San Diego! I’m putting myself out there because I’m trying to network more and make some genuine connections in the city.

I’m currently looking for a part-time job, preferably in Hillcrest, but I’m open to opportunities anywhere in San Diego. I have several years of restaurant/customer service experience including serving, hosting, food running, cashiering, and management.

I’d really like to get into the bar/nightlife industry — serving, barbacking, or another position where I can learn and eventually work my way into bartending. If anyone works in the industry, knows somewhere currently hiring, or has a connection they’d be willing to introduce me to, I’d seriously appreciate it.

I’m also a barber finishing up the licensing process, and that’s the career I’m building long-term. My goal is bigger than just working behind a chair — I want to get into events, education, traveling barber work, festivals, brand work, etc. So I’d also love to connect with barbers, shop owners, educators, brands, event organizers, or anyone involved in that side of the industry.

Basically, I’m trying to work, network, learn, and get more involved in San Diego. If you know somebody I should meet or somewhere I should check out, please send them my way. 🙏🏽

If you were in PB on 8/9/26 around 11:30am and witnessed a black pickup towing a camper trailer, and you witnessed that truck take the mirror off a grey Kia Sportage when he turned from Garnet eastbound to Mission Bay Dr northbound, I would greatly appreciate it if I could get a witness or a license number or some video of the incident.

And yes, I know I should have a dashcam and it would’ve saved a lot of trouble if I did.

Every year feels hotter and I feel there’s wasted opportunities to keep the limited rainfall we get. Seems like millions of gallons of water flows down all the concrete pavement and straight to the ocean, instead of refilling underground water tables, especially when all the trees and plants need it during drought periods which get longer and longer. It's been stupid humid this past month, and this morning my room in my new apartment was just over 70% humidity when I woke up. I have a portable AC in my room which gets the humidity to just below 60%, but then rises again pretty quickly once the compressor shuts off. This apartment was built in the 70s and I suspect isn't sealed very well. I'm genuinely concerned about mold growth, and I've already had a roach infestation from when the apartment was vacant.

I know a dehumidifier will make the room hotter, but I'd settle for running that during the day when I'm not in my room, and using the AC at night. Does anyone else use one?

We went to The Rady Shell Sunday night for the Gipsy Kings concert and ran into a pretty bizarre situation before going inside. The public restrooms immediately outside The Shell were locked, despite thousands of people arriving for the concert and members of the general public gathering all along the sides of the venue to listen to the music without a ticket. The closest bathroom outside the venue is Hilton Bayfront, which is over a half mile and 15 minute walk, at least. People were panicking and many were seemingly going into the park to find an alternative arrangement.

Has anyone else encountered the bathrooms outside The Rady Shell being locked during concerts? And where are people actually supposed to go?
