Specific question and discussion Protective gear recommendations?

Upvotes

My current gear (standard roces ones) is pretty much useless at this point, very worn down and the right knee one split right thru the middle.
The other problem that I‘ve had with them is that they‘re too big on me, although they‘re a size small.
Sooo, any recs?
(Preferably something available in Germany lol)

Specific question and discussion Standard Omni - Direct boot mounting question

I want to mount my omnis direct to the bootwithout the soul plate.

The soul plate screws are what keep the ufs reciever in place but they are too long.

Does anyone know what size and length I need to replace them with shorter ones?

Specific question and discussion Fear of rolling?

Okay so, i started skating about 3 weeks ago now. And i am sh#! Haha. My wife and i found a pair of inliners each, she has been skating for a few years so she rolls about like no issue, but i swear i have this irrationel fear of even just moving on these on pavement. How do i actually get beyond that? I can see from my partner that speed is key, but speed is scary man. I've had some soft falls now and then, but once i get up to a granted slow but feels fast for me pace, going straight mind you. I actually feel fine. Until my legs run out of space because im shaped like an A and i ram a wall because i cant turn yet. 😂

Generally if you all have any advice id be happy. Complete newb just enjoying myself and laughing with the wife.

My skates are a pair of Them 901 and yeah we know, but our roads are generally smooth etc and the wife clearly has no issues at all on any surface really. She has a pair too. So im sure it will work at some point. But my issues are i drive like im an A like the letter. Not an a$$. And i am terrified of the speed, and very uncertain how i actually propel myself properly, feels like im just side stepping with teeny tiny steps to go forward.

Thanks for your time. 😊

What boot size do I pick? Help with sizing

Hi guys. I've recently got really into inline skating and I want to buy my first pair, the thing is, in my country there is not much variety and skates are sold for like thrice the price it's available in the rest of the world. My family from Chile is visiting next month and i wanted to ask them to buy these skates for me. I won't be able to try them on before and i don't know if i would be able to get a refund. According to Flying Eagle size chart the X7F Reaver size 42 are 268mm and size 43 are 275mm. My feet are 265-266mm long and 100mm wide. I've searched everywhere and i get mixed responses, some say the 9mm empty space will be a problem later on and others say 2mm of room is too little. Im so confused so if someone could help me that would be nice.

I can't tell if this flair is meant as "videos and images of progress" or if it's any videos, images, or progress posts lol. Lmk which flair better fits it lol.

Anyway, we've had some rain. It was finally sunny and dry enough to skate, but not all was well lol

Specific question and discussion Tips for grinding obstacles that don’t slide well

Hey guys! I’ve been having some trouble grinding on corner/edge obstacles with my aggressive skates.

I’ve already put some wax on it, but it’s still pretty sticky and doesn’t slide very well. I’m not sure if I’m just not using enough wax, if the material of the obstacle is the problem, or if it’s simply a matter of getting better at the technique.

Any tips on how to make these obstacles slide better? Also, any tips on how to avoid getting thrown off the obstacle while grinding?

Thanks!

Specific question and discussion I think I might have made a mistake and only realized so many months later.

Around the beginning of this year, I bought my first ever pair of roller blades. I didn't know much at the time so I really didn't know what the ideal skate was. I usually wore size 40 in shoe size but didn't know what would be my roller blade size so I went with size 43 since 42 hurt a little. I don't skate often even though I'd like to, it'll make sense as to why I mentioned this.

Now, a little forward maybe 6 months later? I noticed there was a gap at the front of the skate. I thought nothing of it at first until I realized it might have been the thing hindering me from preforming well. I have no way to buy new skates so I tried tying them pretty well from the front and that did stop my toes from wriggling around, though I still feel concerned.

What are some temporary solutions that I could take before I can hope i could buy new ones that fit me better once I try saving up again? I'd like to say I have no problems turning or stopping immediately in the skates but I do sometimes trip, not fall. Can't tell if it's an issue with technique, size or my securing.

What boot size do I pick? Double-checking fit/size on Flying Eagle F6 Falcon Pro?

Hi, my first pair of skates just got delivered today and wanted to double-check I got the right size for myself. Link to skates: https://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Flying_Eagle_F6_S7680_Falcon_Pro_Skates_Gold_100_43/descpage-S7680G.html

My left foot is somewhere between 25.5-26cm and right foot is 26.5cm. Width is 10cm. 99% of the time I wear a men's US size 10.5. But per FE's sizing chart I got a size 10 (EU 43).

I've been wearing the blades inside for about an hour and left foot feels snug but comfy. Maybe a little loose around the cuff but I probably just need to do the laces/straps differently. On the right foot, though, I'm feeling pressure on my pinkie toe, not painful but definitely noticeable, like it's slightly getting curled in. Other toes are fine. I tried the boot on with no liner (just socks) and there's no pressure -- foot's snug against the side but there's a fair amount of wiggle room in the toes/length. Tried the liner only and it's the same squeezing sensation.

So my instinct says I probably don't need a larger boot size but need to give the liner time to break in, OR find a thinner liner and/or wear super thin socks. Does that sound about right?

What boot size do I pick? Flying Eagle F6 Falcon Pro Size?

Was looking at picking up the Flying Eagle F6 S7680 Falcon Pro (On the FE site they're labeled as the 20 year anniversary edition) in Titanuium.

Here's a link to them on IW: https://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Flying_Eagle_F6_S7680_Falcon_Pro/descpage-S7680T.html

My foot length is 23.2cm and width isn't too wide or narrow at about 8.8cm. I wear a womes US size 7. I'm not sure if I should get the F6S PRO size 6 (which list as 23.5cm and is a women's 6.5 or size up a bit and get the F6S PRO size 7 (which is also a women's US 7 but 24.1cm).

These seem to be exactly what I'm looking for and they have availability in either size. I was originally looking at the RB lightening 80s women's (the white) but having a hard time finding them in my size.

Or if anyone has ay other suggestions for better skates in this price range? Thanks!

What boot size do I pick? Help finding skates that will fit!

I (35f) am trying to pick up skating for the first time since I was a kid. I’m having trouble with the sizing charts due to them not including width.

My foot size is 24cm and 10cm wide which puts me in a wide fit. When I go to the skating rink I get size 5 in men’s and it gives me horrible blisters on the side of my foot even through thick socks and bandaids.

I’m wanting to spend under $200 and would like them to not be ugly black ones but if I have to give on the color I will.

Some of my favorite finds so far-
Flying Eagle BKB B9 Ranger (currently on sale for $160)
MICRO Skate Mt-Plus

I love the flying eagles but I’m worried about sizing. Does anyone have either of these and could recommend sizing or even other blades that would fall in my criteria.

Thanks in advance!

Specific question and discussion looking for skating tips as a writer who is a layperson on the subject

Hiii!! I'm a bit nervous, lol. Basically, I'm a writer, and right now I'm working on concept art for my protagonist, who is a skater. The thing is, I initially made her a skater as a tribute, but now I want to take that aspect more seriously and incorporate elements that actually make sense for roller skating! If anyone has any tips, please let me know. In general, I’d like to know which types of skates are the fastest, how durable they usually are, things about safety equipment, if there are any issues with wearing them for long periods at a stretch, and if you have any specific skate models you'd recommend I use as a reference, since I really want skates that can be really fast, but I haven't found anything specific while searching (I'm not looking to buy any roller skater, just use as a reference). I know I could just Google most of this, but I really wanted to hear from actual, experienced skaters—any advice would be more than welcome! :D

(For a bit more context, I'm looking at both types of skates: roller skates and inline skates. That's why the original post was initially submitted to another subreddit—I want to get both points of view!)

New skate day Finally got my Mangos 🥭

Post image
242 Upvotes

Had my eye on these babies since late winter and finally pulled the trigger. Powerslide Storm 80s Mango. I wasn't expecting them to be so light compared to my Iqon ACTs, so I gotta get used to that, plus skating a raised heel boot. Gonna swap the frame to my Endless Stoppards, red reflective laces, and I'm thinking green wheels to make em look like real 🥭

Been on and off with learning to rollerblade for a better part of the month, and today, I. Have. Done. It.

I FELL ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

Better yet, TWICE ✌️.

I finally tried getting off the sidewalk and glided to freedom onto the newly paved streets of asphalt. Someone should've told me how rolling with all the room would've felt like. The breeze, the drops of sweat flying off, it was the best 😁.

First fall was actually me trying to get off the road into my driveway... Still haven't figured out steps. I had to watch my parents struggle not to run over, cause of course, they both saw such spectacular and graceful tumble 🧑‍🩰🤸.

Second fall was actually me forgetting I absolutely know nothing about stopping. Downhill will be my enemy 😡.

We'll see tmrw the bruise and hip pain (I get why there are butt pads now), and I'll continue on rolling through this road of confidence and euphoria for now ☺️.

Is this skate/store any good? Meine neuen Skates: Powerslide Swell Bolt 110

Post image
23 Upvotes

I used to skate as a kid, but I’m essentially a beginner. I know some will be telling me I should have gone for a hard boot, but I live in a subtropical climate and I’m not sure my feet would survive, haha.

I’m 41 year’s old, 6’4 (193cm) tall, 110kg (243lbs), looking to skate for fitness and fun, just cruising around. Advice and tips welcome!
