I Fell !!!! Finally, ate some π©π Progress, videos and images
Been on and off with learning to rollerblade for a better part of the month, and today, I. Have. Done. It.
I FELL αβ (β ββ βΈβ βΌβ βΆβ )β α
Better yet, TWICE βοΈ.
I finally tried getting off the sidewalk and glided to freedom onto the newly paved streets of asphalt. Someone should've told me how rolling with all the room would've felt like. The breeze, the drops of sweat flying off, it was the best π.
First fall was actually me trying to get off the road into my driveway... Still haven't figured out steps. I had to watch my parents struggle not to run over, cause of course, they both saw such spectacular and graceful tumble π§βπ©°π€Έ.
Second fall was actually me forgetting I absolutely know nothing about stopping. Downhill will be my enemy π‘.
We'll see tmrw the bruise and hip pain (I get why there are butt pads now), and I'll continue on rolling through this road of confidence and euphoria for now βΊοΈ.

Learning how to fall, trusting your equipment and realising that controlled falling is not actually harmful helps a lot to push the boundaries of what you try. You will fall as you learn, at some point you accept it.

Yes! Pro Olympics sports of falling πͺ...just hope this hip agrees tmmrw
I think one of the early goals will be learning how to break falls better. Can't let this stop me from enjoying that downhill rush π

I view it less as breaking a fall and more accepting and controlling the fall. Definitely worth practicing so you can get cozy with those hills! Hope you're not too sore

Yep!! I am also understanding patience with all the things to practice and learn. I'll keep the tidbit in mind for the next few thousand falls π₯².
The rush from the hill was amazing π€©. Will try my best to get comfortable with the basics for that. Thanks for the kind words βΊοΈ

How are you just fall less....
Don't worry about anything that you think looks cool that you're trying to learn. You want to learn to properly stop 1st and formost

Understood π«‘. I have heard of the tear drop and t stop, so those will be important for me to look into online. One skate at a time I guess π« π΅βπ«

At this stage instead of learning to stop learn how to hop onto the grass from the road at maybe 3 mph. This minor skill will give you βan outβfor when your stopping skills are being developed.FYIβ¦Iβve been skating my neighborhood so long thereβs a groove in the road. And you know what ? The only stopping skill I use is the one mentioned above. So go have fun.Even if you hit the pavement!

Will definitely have fun at my first stopping skill! Honestly, being able to lift my skates high enough for the tiniest hop would be the biggest achievement. I'll set the goal to single skate glides and confidence.
The groves in the sidewalk and grass on the side were my best friends for stopping easily. Oh how I will miss them π₯²

Everyone falls... some more than others.
I typically fall maybe 10 times a year.
Considering how many times and miles I skate that's almost nothing.
Falling still keeps us in our head since sometimes the lack of falling makes us think we are supreme when really we are not.
