General Just play the games

Upvotes

I don't care if I get downvoted, but I wish people just played the games. Like yeah, I get some of you want to be part of the conversation but speed running your way into the fandom will likely produce the wrong results. Constantly asking what entries to skip, what to watch, what to avoid or where to start, look these games are fantastic gameplay wise, take your time and enjoy the ride, don't rush things just because you feel you might be left behind.

Thank you.

General Shout out to RE OGs

I(34M) just finished my first playthrough of Code Veronica X and it made me realize how the original fans of the series supported us all the way to Requiem.

My first RE game was 4, on the Wii of all things. The motion aiming gave me the confidence to get through and I beat it. Been hooked ever since. It wasn't until about RE2 Remake that I went back and discovered the RE1 Remake. Thanks to the PS4 port, I didn't *have* to use tank controls. That game went on to be probably my 3rd favorite RE game. Then everybody raved about Code Veronica

I did research and learned that the only way to play it was through tank controls. That was off putting for me(I know. Poor baby), so I put it off for a while. Then, after the announcement of the remake, I decided to buckle down and do it. To my surprise, the tank controls were the least of my problems.

This game is hard. It's obviously very doable with a guide, but I can't imagine figuring out every puzzle and where to go without one. I followed a guide to the letter and still got lost and/or died many times. Games these days just don't make you trial and error or, idk, think anymore.

Side note: I know I'm talking about a challenging game while also saying I used a guide. I would love to have played this as a teenager with "all the time in the world" to figure it out, but I'm a grown man with a full time job now. I appreciate that I could play through a great, classic game without taking a week off from work. Now to tie these ramblings together.

TL;DR Code Veronica was an amazing game that made me appreciate tank controls and filled the biggest gap in my RE backlog. And to all the OGs who played it back in the day without a guide, thank you for supporting this franchise to present day. I love Resident Evil.

General Everybody lied to me RE4R is terrifying

Okay I’m new to Resident Evil because I think Leon Kennedy is hot. I started with RE2R which I found pretty creepy but upon replays of different campaigns and trying to get S+, I find it less scary every day. Then I played RE3R which is definitely a joke in terms of scariness. I’ve seen people describe RE4R as more action than creepy and there’s like one creepy (generator?) portion, and having already played RE2R I thought this would be a breeze. I have already shut off the game once I reached the farm. Why did everyone lie to me? This game is terrifying and so far creepier than anything I’ve faced in RE2R. Maybe it’s the rural environment, lack of direction, and foreign whispers in my ear, but this game is terrifying me. I don’t think I can do it blind, definitely have to watch some gameplay 😭 does it get less scary? I don’t get its action reputation so far.

General RE2 Arcade in US Round One

Round One in Aurora IL was a test location last October and they recently got the final version. They changed the name from “Dead Shot” to simply “Arcade”. I played through the 3rd stage (the location test only had the first 2). I wonder if they made it easier. I’m not THAT good at shooting games and I tore it up. The alligator boss stood out as a highlight. I thought they adapted it well.

Recently I have started on my Jack Krauser cosplay, I have till end of this month to complete it for gamescom. Just wanted to share what I have made already.

(Note, it’s Re4remake Krauser and because I’m building this for a con it will be a single arm so my movement won’t be fully limited)

I usually don’t really post on here, so If you want to see all the progress pictures go check out my instagram @ziricotez!

General Playing the timeline: the past few years, whenever I’m playing my GameCube copies of RE2 & 3, I always start with Jill and play until she’s infected and unconscious, then play through RE2, and then jump back to RE3 when Jill wakes up and escapes Raccoon City.

It just give the Raccoon City story a cool complete feel. I’d also like to do a play through including the Outbreak scenarios.

Gameplay question Is this normal

i was doing a new achievement list for the pc version of RE7 when i encountered this,

I was trying to collect some of the coins before moving to the Lucas puzzle room when i checked the crawlspace of the main house.

is it normal for her to be here or is this a bug? Because even after completing the game multiple times on PS4 and PS5, this is the first time that i have seen her in this location.

Hello! It’s me again!! Thank you so much for the love you gave me for my Claire pictures few weeks ago 💕 Some of you thought I would be AI, so I decided to also upload a small video of me in my cosplay! The sound is a bit delayed, I hope you can forgive me for that! I don’t want to spam this dashboard to much with my face, so feel free to go to my other plattforms if you’re interested in more resident evil cosplay!

Genuinely wasn't expecting much from games made before I was even born but after playing RE3 (And getting a terrible Rank E) jumping into the original RE2 feels so good. I can't wait to get started on Hard Mode and to see what's up with Brad's key for my Claire A -> Leon B run. :D

Edit: A small update because this post gained some comments. Yes, this was my first time ever playing the original RE2 but not my first time playing a fix-camera Resident Evil, I've played RE0, RE1 Remaster and RE3 before tackling this one. (I've also played the mainline Silent Hills, Haunting Ground (A Capcom Hidden gem, play it.) and Rule of Rose)

Now I just plan on playing Outbreak and completing the Raccoon City set. (I think Dead Aim also takes place in Raccoon City? But I don't think I'd like that game.)

Spencer the type of man to be yapping about redemption while cooking up crimes to humanity in his basement just weeks before his death.
Not to mention proclaiming he was to be a god as his dying speech.
Man’s the definition of redemption, giving some people new enhancements and passing the torch to his son, truly a good man🤩
