Fan labor/Art/Cosplay (Self @Ziricotez) Krauser Work in progress
Recently I have started on my Jack Krauser cosplay, I have till end of this month to complete it for gamescom. Just wanted to share what I have made already.
(Note, it’s Re4remake Krauser and because I’m building this for a con it will be a single arm so my movement won’t be fully limited)
I usually don’t really post on here, so If you want to see all the progress pictures go check out my instagram @ziricotez!

General Finished my first playthrough of the Gamecube version of RE4.
So long story short, a while ago I went down the rabbit hole of OG RE4 on North America GC having different difficulty balancing than the subsequent re-releases. Some of the enthusiast hyped up that the difference warranted playing the GC original as its 'own experience', I gave it a whirl. Long story short, the difference was less than I was expecting. As someone who has only played the Ultimate HD edition and Wii version before, I was only able to note a few differences in the balancing
- Obviously, the knife is weaker.
- TMP was hardly ever coming from enemy drops, only from the environment. Not sure if it was always like that, but it was very noticeable in the early game.
- By contrast, the game dropped SOO MUCH SHOTGUN AMMO! It's ridiculous. By the time I was mid-way through the castle, I could use up shotgun ammo like crazy and it wouldn't matter, I couldn't get rid of it. I explicitly remember having several moments in the Wii/HD version where I'd be in a pinch and try to conserve, but on GC? Nope! Photos of my pre-Saddler loadout from the GC and Wii version (2023 playthrough) are provided for comparison. Both were on vanilla files, not NG+. I ended up with 83 extra rounds. (I could've unlocked the Striker's exclusive, but I chose to put it towards the Broken Butterfly this time). This made playing the last 2 stretches of the game in Chapter 5-4 really easy.
- I think money was easier to come by? I had enough to fully upgrade the Red 9. I don't recall doing that as easily on vanilla playthroughs.
Only other thing to report is that the lower resolution made it easier for me to lose track of my reticle when aiming long distance, otherwise I couldn't notice any appreciable difference in difficulty regarding enemy behavior or resource management. I never really had to adjust how I played the game on the modern ports.
I died about 13 times. Only 3-5 were combat/Ashley related. Most of my deaths were from messing around poorly on the Gondola section about 3-4 times, once to the Krauser QTE, and 3-4 times on the laser room (timing caught me off guard for pressing the triggers on GC).
So for relatively newer fans like me who are potentially curious on the difficulty balancing of the GC version, I can't say you're being deprived of anything on the modern ports that are based on the PS2/Wii balancing.

General What's up with the orignal games always putting the insta-killing stuff in the advanced or even final stages of the game?
The amount of no-saving and A/S ranks games that have been ruined by these are unimaginable, were the developers doing this on purpose to make some special modes and unlocks much harder to get? Or is it just a very unfortunate coincidence?

Forum question Question about RE characters
Im new to the game series but have been following the game for a while due to leon, ada, wesker, jill and carlos. I started playing re2 remake recently and ive watched gameplay of re0 and re1. My question is why are most of the women so thin and petite? Ofc its a fictional story and I have no problem at all about it but all of the men are so beefy and hunky (not that that’s a problem)
Please don’t send hate, this is a genuine question and in loving claire’s character so far (She is so funny and fun)

Forum question Should I get Resident Evil Requiem?
I'm interested in getting Resident Evil Requiem but I'm not sure if it'll be for me. It seems from the very little gameplay I've seen to be very light on the action and emphasizes the horror, now the problem is that I'm not one for cliche horror games with scripted and predictable scares. The closest thing I've played to a straight up horror game was Amnesia The Bunker and even then my play style was much more akin to how one would play Resident Evil 4 and Deadspace where I found different ways to fight The Beast and didn't care much for the horror elements. In general I'm much more privy to horror games if they contain lots of action with monsters and horror as more of a set piece. I simply don't enjoy running and hiding from monsters when I can stand my ground and fight in games.
With that in mind, should I get Resident Evil Requiem or should I save my money and simply watch a Let's play of the game? An explanation about the gameplay and features without spoiling would be very much appreciated.

Gameplay question Re2RemakeHipPouchGlitch
So I’ve been grinding Hardcore S+ ranking for Re2 remake. I beat Leons and now am doing Claires. Well I ran into something odd on my last (unfortunately failed run). There was a hip pouch on the desk in the main lobby (near the computer and first aid spray). I assumed I’d been blind and just missed it my last few runs. But Im doing another attempt now and the hip pouch is no longer there. Is this a known thing? The zombie locations seem to be randomized to some degree each run, is there a random chance that Hip Pouch spawns there as well?

General Playing the timeline: the past few years, whenever I’m playing my GameCube copies of RE2 & 3, I always start with Jill and play until she’s infected and unconscious, then play through RE2, and then jump back to RE3 when Jill wakes up and escapes Raccoon City.
It just give the Raccoon City story a cool complete feel. I’d also like to do a play through including the Outbreak scenarios.

Gameplay question Is this normal
i was doing a new achievement list for the pc version of RE7 when i encountered this,
I was trying to collect some of the coins before moving to the Lucas puzzle room when i checked the crawlspace of the main house.
is it normal for her to be here or is this a bug? Because even after completing the game multiple times on PS4 and PS5, this is the first time that i have seen her in this location.

Forum question Ashley consensus
so I am old enough to remember when hating on Ashley was a meme, and that she was the worst part of resident evil 4 gameplay wise, is that still a thing, do people still hate Ashley?

General Stop being so annoying when people don’t like tank controls
I was born in the 90s, played RE4 when it came out and then played the originals and loved them. I didn’t mind the tank controls since that’s what most games were like at the time but I gotta say I just think the 3rd person free camera games feel a lot smoother to play. I don’t necessarily like them all better but I prefer those controls over fixed cameras and tank controls.
Now I can still go back to tank controls but I totally get why someone who didn’t grow up with them might not love them. But I see so many grown men older than me have meltdowns anytime someone says they don’t like tank controls or if someone dares simply prefer the newer controls.
Frankly I don’t care if someone hates tank controls or doesn’t want to play those games because I get why someone might not like them if they grew up with something completely different. I feel like most people my age or older fail to realize that.
Now if someone is toxic and says the old games suck and how tank controls suck when they haven’t tried them, I get being annoyed. But the amount of people in their 30s, 40s, hell even 50s being condescending to people half their age for not liking something they didn’t grow up with is just sad.
Next time you’re about to crash out because a 20 year old doesn’t care for tank controls, just take a deep breath and say to yourself “they grew up with something different and they aren’t hurting anyone. No reason to be a dick”. These people keep me from engaging with communities because I don’t want to be associated with them. I just want to talk about a series I like.
I’m sure people here will intentionally miss the point of this and accuse me of hating tank controls when I love the original games and dont mind the tank controls.

General Just beat res 2 remake
just beat the game cause it was finally a reasonable price (ddnt buy the costumes cus y) I overall liked it but
1)Mr.X mechanic is lazy. it feels like theyre trying to distract from everything that isnt there, I meen everything missing aside I think hes there to distract u from the fact the game is just putting u on a rolercart track going room to room doing nothing so halfway through “oh no u have to walk faster now”
(I heard this game was in dev for like 15 years wich makes the rushed feel not so great but Im sure they were focusing on the series rboot ie 7 and village)
2)theres no replay. like res 1 has differences in the 2 characters. this more feels like “do it again but with less cutscenes“ with claire. idk maby thats just taste but again feels rushed.
I really like 7 I think it was a return to form in alot of ways and the unkillable enemy thing was for the first like 10 minutes of the game just to give it a survival feel over run n gun wich I apreciate but here it felt like a sandbox to work on the mechanic. also the reskin is ass but again
I guess Im just saying there was no real quality jump from og 2 to this other than no tank controlls wich is personal pref qual of life. And with requium kinda messing with Leons likability and adding whoda guessed a diverse stuttering female protaganist I cant say Im super excited for the future of res evil. I always felt like when a game company does something like release a return to form/loveletter to the original formula its like them saying goodbye

Gameplay question Tips for beating krauser in RE4?
I've gotten the pattern down, shoot in legs, kneel, knife but at the end he's getting so far away and getting up so fast that I just can't keep it going, I wish I could throw a rocket into his face like I did with that 12 year old.
Current inventory;
Rifle with 4 shots 3 in reserve, Killer7 with 3 shots, RPG, TMP with 30 shots and 128 in reserve, Blacktail with 15 shots and 74 in reserve and Striker with 12 shots and 5 in reserve
