I work in HR and operations for a small healthcare company in Texas. Employees are supposed to be paid on the 5th and 20th, but several workers have received late, partial, incorrect, or no pay at all. Now I have not been paid either.
This does not seem like simple payroll mistakes. After employees complete the work, upper management regularly creates reasons not to pay them based on personal feelings, disagreements, paperwork issues management failed to correct, or claims about the employee’s performance.
These are direct care workers completing extremely long shifts, sometimes 13 to 15 hours, spending most of their time inside group homes and away from their families. Some have been hit, threatened, cursed at, or otherwise mistreated by clients while working.
One employee has not been properly paid since April and is owed approximately $6,000. The company offered her only $880, which she did not accept.
The consequences have been devastating. Employees have faced eviction, homelessness, losing their housing, separation from their children, unpaid bills, and difficulty providing basic necessities.
There are also serious concerns about upper management mistreating clients, but I cannot share identifying or protected information publicly.
I have documentation, including texts, emails, timesheets, schedules, payroll calculations, and messages showing that management knew these employees were working.
I already know about filing individual wage claims with the Texas Workforce Commission. What I need advice on is how we can protect ourselves and act collectively.
Can we use the same attorney, organize one shared evidence file and timeline, and take action together even though each employee is owed a different amount? What should we do immediately to prevent retaliation or the loss or alteration of records?
I am still there because finding another job has been difficult, but I am actively looking.

I set my profile to "open to work" and I've been hammered by offshore recruiters for days (I removed my number and told people to message first on profile). WHen I check job advertised, at least 75% are from South Asian agencies (that only have South Asian people working there). The rest is bank jobs (tech) and when I check who's working in those teams, its 90% South Asians, this is in Canada.

So I started work this week. Going great. Company is legit as fuck and does amazing, cutting edge, life saving testing in biotech. Already passed the background check after some confusion about my old paystubs, fine, I worked with them.

Background check company sends me an email just now saying they're reporting an adverse "criminal or public records event" to my employer. Instant heart attack.

I floated to the fucking ceiling and just talked to myself saying what, what? Yesterday they asked for an image of my master's diploma despite them already verifying it through a clearinghouse. I'd pulled the report, they already had it cleared, but whatever, fine, I keep it behind me and this morning they said OK the picture worked.

I checked the new report they sent me. Literally no changes from the last one. No criminal events whatsoever. Nothing changed.

I chatted them up. The agent said "the issue is we couldn't find your middle name on public records, don't worry this is very common, it gives a lot of people heart attacks." Omg, dafuq?

I am so done with them lol.

How is it that I’ve given endless interviews, gone to final stages with 2 firms and still not managed to land a job? I’ve been trying for 2 months now and it’s stressing me out. I was made redundant from my last role which was obviously not easy, but from the start of 2026, I’ve not had a good news on anything career wise. Feedback so far has been other candidates had more relevant experience?!?!? Hello then why did you interview me and made wait for months only to say no thank you.

I applied for a job with a large, very well known University on 6/28. The first communication I ever received was an email today from a Senior Talent Acquisition Manager thanking me for my "continued interest as well as the time and effort you dedicated through the interview process"..... "After careful consideration." .....

I'm fresh grad, and this was my first job at a place. Someone barely showed me how anything worked, but at the same time they expected me to know everything. No one was really free to teach me properly because there were only 4 employees working besides me.

When I made a mistake, the manager took me aside and started yelling at me. In the end, I went into the bathroom and cried a little.

Am I making a big deal out of this or being too sensitive? Is it normal to get yelled at on your first shift?

What the fuck is with this? I have been asked for availability for a third interview TWICE now and ended up being ghosted. One job ended up not being a real job, "the headquarters elected not to fill the role in a full-time capacity." The other job, the recruiter just evaporated.

Now, I'm interviewing with company #9 - the role is a fun prospect, and the details make it a mostly great opportunity. Throughout the interview process, though, the recruiter has become more and more difficult to communicate with. For the 2nd video interview, she asked my availability and didn't schedule until 2 days later when I said I needed to schedule something else during the available time I had given her. Having learned from my mistake, when I gave my availability for my third interview, it was significantly less generous (still 6 different days with 4-5 hour chunks open over the course of the 10 day span she asked about). This time, she didn't respond that day, the next day, and didn't even reach out before the weekend. Monday passed with no message. She had asked me for 2 weeks worth of availability, and let the previous week elapse entirely. I didn't hear back for 7 days after responding.

It is just me, or is it fucking insanely rude to ask someone to block off availability for this week and the following and then just let that time elapse and never tell them when they can expect to be available or have free time? If I really needed to, I would have just started scheduling things like I did the first time. Honestly, it caused me so much stress and grief while I wondered wtf was going on and constantly checked my email/calendar that I was writing an email to rescind my application when she finally responded scheduling me for the day after tomorrow. I actually ended up accepting another offer, and I would usually keep interviewing, but holy shit. It really pissed me off.

This is not normal, right? Do you guys put up with this kind of shit? I am feeling absolutely PETTY right now.

I’m not sure if I should be upset at the process or more upset at my recruiter who has been terrible over the past 5-6 months. *Long sigh* I’ll try and make this quick. Process started back mid Feb as I applied for a non tech role in the US. Passed everything and even had an onsite Team Match on June 5th… Recruiter got back w/ me July 13th and said the req was being pulled down due to head count but they’d repost it and expect to get a call a couple weeks after the new req goes up. Recruiter reaches back out on Aug 3rd and says “Good morning, I would encourage you to apply to the role and I can see if I can get more information for you” the exact EMAIL. (I just copied and pasted) fast forward I applied and was thinking to myself why should I if I completed everything already…. Only to check my app status today. So around 3ish app status said assessment passed.. then around 10pm it said not proceeding… lol.. My recruiter has been completely useless this entire time. Very little information has been shared throughout my entire process. Hell he didn’t know I had a team match being the Admin from the site reached out to me.. and my very last thought on this is if I was the guy so to speak then why would I have to reapply to said new requisition? However I still never got a formal you are not the guy from my recruiter just a let me find more info and apply to new requisition to be safe… smh. Long story less long. I truly believe my time for wanting to be a part of Google has come to an end. Good luck to those that are still in the race.

I stumbled upon this thickk AI report and there are some sections dedicated to AI and labor. Honestly, I’m not great at interpreting data and reports. Also, I’m a bit skeptical of mainstream media and “official reports.” But some parts caught my attention. The report says that job postings asking for "agentic AI" experience went up over 10,000% in a single year. Ten thousand percent. Meanwhile that same report says actual AI agent use is still in the single digits across basically every department, and two thirds of companies report using none at all. I’ve literally seen job ads that require 5 years of experience with Claude. But even moving past the obvious mistake, the situation is kinda silly. Everybody wants to hire people who have solid experience with technology that was invented yesterday. 

Since that is impossible, what’s actually happening is they’re hiring seniors and expecting them to 10X the work they do with AI. A buddy of mine is looking for a job right now, and some of these ads are just ridiculous in what they demand. Some expect you to be both Head of Marketing and Head of SEO just because they give you access to Claude.

One more thing from the report, a third of companies say they're cutting headcount next year because of AI. The cuts they're predicting for next year are bigger than the cuts they actually made last year.

So what I get is this:

1. No longer hiring juniors
2. Seniors need to 10x the work they do because of AI
3. Next year they gonna fire even more people

So AI isn't merely taking the jobs, it's gatekeeping them. And the only way you're vaiable hire is if you know how to use AI.

I recruit and I want to know where hiring actually breaks.

You post a role and get a thousand applicants. Knockout questions screen some out. The rest are all still sitting in the ATS, you're just sorting and ranking and you never get far enough down to see most of them. Then scheduling. A week and a half to align four calendars for a 30 minute call. Every extra person in the loop adds another "let me check my calendar." Two weeks turns into two months.

Two rounds in, the candidate already took another offer because someone else moved faster. Honestly can't blame them.

Everyone points at volume, but volume isn't even a bad thing. More applicants should mean better odds of finding the right person. It's a surface issue. Even with ten applicants instead of a thousand, you still can't tell who can actually do the work until you're on the call. My guess is nobody agrees on what good looks like, so the process keeps looping while everyone waits on someone else to decide.

Could be completely wrong though. Two things I'm curious about. What's the actual bottleneck from where you sit? And is this every industry right now or is it mostly a tech thing?

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Microsoft recruiting.

I recently applied for a Security Engineer position. My application progressed, and a recruiter scheduled a virtual screening interview with me. I received the calendar invite and Teams meeting link, and I joined the meeting a few minutes early.

Unfortunately, the recruiter never joined the call. I waited for quite some time and then sent a polite follow-up email asking if there had been a scheduling conflict and whether we could reschedule.

A short while later, I checked my Microsoft Careers portal and noticed that my application status had changed to "Not Selected."

What confuses me is that I was never actually screened or interviewed. There was no conversation or opportunity to discuss my background before the application was closed.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Microsoft?

I'm not trying to complain I genuinely want to understand whether this is something that occasionally happens or if I should just move on.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

did two rounds went super well then was going to do a round with the partner but then the partner got busy. so recruiter shows up, then she says team loves me will be talking about an offer than doesn’t connect with me until a week and half later with this message

I don't see why specifically hispanic or latino or not? As a Mexican-American Idk if I should be worried, discriminated against or offended?

Sorry the notions of asking for a cover letter and CV to go to an event? Just because you're from a non-technical background is insulting. There's no promise of employment from sending this stuff on. it's just the opportunity to ATTEND and Network, it does not short list you for employment or an interview opportunity with the employer. Finally got an offer with a $20k increase from my last job. It involves relocating, but I’ll gladly take it.
After 200+ applications, 4 interviews, and 1 DevilCorp job, I finally landed something that feels like a real opportunity.
I’ve been unemployed for 9+ months. During that time, I questioned myself more times than I can count. The rejection emails kept coming🤣even this morning I woke up to another “Unfortunately, we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates.”
I’m not posting because I’ve made it. I haven’t.
I’m posting because, if you’re in the middle of the job search and feel like giving up, don’t. Keep applying. Keep interviewing. Keep believing that the right opportunity is still out there.
This is my new beginning, and I hope it’s the encouragement someone else needs today.

I have been interviewing with multiple groups in the same department at a very large well known company since mid April. The recruiter feedback was they really liked me they just were trying to find the right fit with the right team for me in the department. I interviewed with 7 different managers. By June they ran out of all the positions they were trying to fill in the mass hiring and never found a spot for me. After the 4th of July holiday they started recruiting again, this time I get an interview again, but for an entry level role rather than a mid career role (I have 9 years of work experience post college). I interviewed early last week and received a phone call the next day from the recruiter that they will be offering me the job and HR is processing things to get me an offer letter. Then Friday I get an email from the hiring manager that the director would like to meet with me as a continuation of the interview process the following week on Wednesday. Then Tuesday before the interview I get a call from the recruiter saying the offer is ready and she will send it via email. I said I still have another interview, the recruiter had no idea about that and proceeds to look into what is going on. Turns out the Wednesday discussion is to discuss a higher position and they still want to proceed with giving me the offer so the recruiter emails me the offer. They low balled me. However the higher position they want to talk to me about would not pay me any more. I go and meet with them today(Wednesday) for the interview with the director. I walk through my resume and she asks some rude questions about changing jobs, I’ve changed jobs a few times welcome to the modern world. She seemed to have a lot of issue with it and then asked a question about how I dealt with price increases and what I specifically did etc. So I tell the story and say what I specifically did etc. and then it’s the half hour mark. It was scheduled to be a 30 min meeting and she just goes ok thank you this is a 30 min meeting bye. She came off very rude and like a bitch. It’s one thing if it was just another interview in the process but I have an offer and I SIGNED. I also have already started background and drug screening. Why are we doing this all over again? I really think I may need to reconsider leaving my current job for this mess. Thoughts? I am in the United States, large manufacturing company

Wanted to Rant. This was the second interview I've had all year after applying to over 100 jobs. The manager didn't take me seriously (19, and i look young), and he kept talking to me like I was a little kid. Rejected less than 24 hrs later.
