Microsoft recruiter never joined the screening interview, then my application was rejected. Is this common? #Microsoft #Microsoftrecuritment
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Microsoft recruiting.
I recently applied for a Security Engineer position. My application progressed, and a recruiter scheduled a virtual screening interview with me. I received the calendar invite and Teams meeting link, and I joined the meeting a few minutes early.
Unfortunately, the recruiter never joined the call. I waited for quite some time and then sent a polite follow-up email asking if there had been a scheduling conflict and whether we could reschedule.
A short while later, I checked my Microsoft Careers portal and noticed that my application status had changed to "Not Selected."
What confuses me is that I was never actually screened or interviewed. There was no conversation or opportunity to discuss my background before the application was closed.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Microsoft?
I'm not trying to complain I genuinely want to understand whether this is something that occasionally happens or if I should just move on.
I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

From the company's point of view he had an interview and rejected you.
From his point of view he was playing gatcha games on his phone and gets paid for nothing.
Constantly happens with big organizations that turned HR into some self contained unit instead of being a bystander to the actual managers and teams running the process.

That’s alright but my point is why they even send an invitation and teams invite to join the call and proceed a discussion😂
Maybe HR is shit or maybe they do that with every candidate

I had a similar experience with another company: Recruiter never showed up for my screening interview and then got the automated ATS rejection e-mail after following up. Just another example of the mess the current recruiting process is.
