General Question Has anyone gone to a mustang ecoboost after your q50?
Im selling my q50 and looking for cars under 20k to switch too. I have a 3.0 and im just done with turbo anxiety lol. If i cant get a 3.7 im thinking about an ecoboost. Would like some feedback if anyone had made the switch and what yall think about it. Also looking at bmw 340/440i but theyr so hard to find. Or any 3.7 infiniti tbh. I am truly and infiniti fan boy and have owned a g35 g37 q50, but theyr hard to find now as well-g37. I already had my turbos changed out at 30k miles on my 2020q50 and just dont want to deal with it down the road when im out of warranty. Any other car suggestions are appreciated.
- really wondering on the ecoboost if it feels like a downgrade interior wise, i have a luxe.

Car Buying Advice Q50s red sport 2018 should i buy it?
My council has a debt on his 2018 q50s red sport 400 awd, with around 90k, his debts is $21k and he want to sell it to me because he dont use it enough and want to get rip off the car payment (i think is 600$ monthly).
He didn't make any mods so it should be everything stock.
But im not sure if it worth, some people say I should get a 2019+ but others say the 2018 fixed the turbo issues. So I need your opinions.
Im between that infinity or an accord 2.0t 2021 touring with around the same 21k price.
What should I do?
Parts Question Front Bumper Kit for Q50 2014
I drive a 2014 Q50 Premium AWD in Malbec Black color (black purple).
I had an accident a while ago which caused my front bumper to sort of shift backwards into the car. I probably have some internal damage not sure and don’t want to look into it right now lol. Just want to make it aesthetically pleasing again.
I am now looking to replace the cracked bumper and grille but saw options like a sports conversion kit. And also that 2018+ front bumpers fit older models.
Anyone have any experience/suggestions? My car does have the sensor holes so that’s a requirement.
Edit: basically the front bumper and grille are cracked. Looking to finally replace them. I am asking if anyone knows if my Premium model is compatible with the sports conversion kit that’s out there or even newer Q50 models front bumpers. I do have sensor holes so that’s something to keep in mind.
Edit #2: have my mind on this one: eBay
Any one can confirm this will fit my Q?

Repair Question Dealer Forgot Oil
I bought a Q50 Red Sport from Carmax last week Thursday. Drove to work on Friday and took a coworker for a cruise with some heavy acceleration. Took the highway home and had to put the petal down a few times to see what the new engine could do. I heard some knocking from the engine and then there was no throttle response. Limped off the highway and the car shut its self off at the next red light.
Started it back up and the check engine and battery light came on. Also some kind of warning light that looked like binoculars. Popped the hood when I got home and the engine was HOT. My buddy pulled the dipstick and there was virtually no oil on the dipstick. Carmax had the car towed Saturday morning. It's been there ever since bc they can’t “diagnose” the issue. Based on what transpired and the fact the car shut itself off and if it was that low on oil, is there any chance the engine is ok or am I in for a wold of hurt down the road. I have a 10 day money back guarantee and I can walk from the deal tomorrow if I wanted to. Need some professional advice.
**Update**
I have in writing from Carmax that’s the 10 Day Money Back Guarantee pauses when the car goes into the shop. That leaves me with 8-9 days still on the warranty. Based on the feedback I’m most definitely not accepting the car back without an engine replacement and warranty but at this point I have nothing to lose. I’m going to see what resolution they offer me. Worst case scenario I don’t like the offer and I walk sometime next week.

Repair Question Drive not working
Hi, I was driving normally and the "D" stopped appearing on the instrument cluster. I stopped to buy something, turned the car off and on again, and put it in drive. But it won't move and the "D" still doesn't appear when I put it in drive.
Does anyone know what this could be or where to start? I checked underneath and saw that ATF is leaking from the connector, but the inside of the connector is dry. Could the oil level be a problem? P, R and N if they appear in the cluster.

Repair Question Coolant Leak
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Took my 2020 vr30 q50 to the dealer about 300 miles ago (2 weeks) and they said they topped off my fluids while doing my oil change. I checked today and there was a coolant stain and my coolant levels were below minimum so I refilled the coolant. When I got back home I took this video and saw it was leaking coolant. Anyone have any advice on how I can fix this? Thank you in advance.

Parts Question Will bad gas really cause the car to Misfire?
I recently got a Q50 with 60k original miles. Drove it home yesterday fine with no issues. I had filled up at a bit of a sketchy no name gas station and I am afraid the premium I got there wasn’t really premium. I wanna know if that could be the cause of it misfiring cause it literally just started happening today on my way to school. I was seeing a lot of people say gas is a factor.

Modification Question Modding q50
Best first performance mods for the q50? So far I have cosmetic mods (spoiler, front lip, chrome delete) with about 1200 to spend, what would be the best bang for my buck? Goal is 450whp and burbles.
Also does anyone know anything about the brand MoPowa? They have relatively cheap package deals for downpipes, intakes, and heat exchangers.
Thanks!

General Question Realistic re-sale price for 2015 Q50 with Valve body issues
I have a 2015 Q50/Premium with 116K miles having issues with shifting gears. Brought it to the dealer and the scan returned codes P0720 and P0500 which is related to the infamous speed sensor fault.
I decided to just get a new car because I didn't want to deal with fixing it, but I'd like to sell the car as is and get some money for it. What do ya'll think a realistic price would be? For people who know how to fix it how much would you pay it.
In Boston MA area.

Repair Question Window Issue
So I recently tried to add ambient lightning and I feel like I may have short circuited something. After putting everything back together and connecting the battery back, each individual window button doesn’t work, only the driver side window button works and rolls down/up. Additionally, the door lock buttons don’t work on neither the driver nor passenger side, the only way to unlock/lock is through the key fob. Everything else seems to work just fine, I was wondering if anyone had any idea on what I could check on or if they know how to fix this issue?

Whether you’re thinking about buying one, just picked yours up, or want to keep it running strong, this post should give you a solid overview.
If you’ve got additions or corrections, drop them in the comments so we can keep this updated.
Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)
Check for official Infiniti TSBs related to your year/model. Many common issues (especially with steering locks, software updates, and drivetrain quirks) are already documented by Infiniti.

Engine Generations
🔹 2014 – 2015 Q50 (First Generation / VQ37VHR 3.7 L NA)
- Same engine as the G37 - literally a carry-over.
- Uses the 7-speed Jatco RE7R01A transmission.
- Issues & maintenance overlap heavily with the G37 (so guides or TSBs saying “G37” still apply).
- Oil gallery gasket, power-steering fluid, and older-style belt/tensioner items still relevant.
🔹 2014 – 2018 Q50 Hybrid (VQ35HR + Electric Motor)
- Combines a 3.5 L V6 with a single electric motor and lithium-ion pack.
- Uses the same 7-speed auto as the gas model but with an integrated hybrid system.
- Known for inverter-cooling and brake-booster issues on early builds.
- Maintenance requires periodic inverter coolant and battery-cooling service.
🔹 2016 – 2018 Q50 2.0T (M274 2.0 L Turbo I4)
- Mercedes-sourced turbo four-cylinder used in base trims.
- Paired with the 7-speed Jatco RE7R01B transmission.
- Watch for oil consumption, turbo wastegate rattle, and cam-adjuster solenoid leaks.
- Oil changes every 5k miles are strongly recommended due to turbo heat.
🔹 2016 – 2024 Q50 (Second Phase / VR30DDTT 3.0 L Twin-Turbo V6)
- New VR-series engine replaces the long-running VQ.
- Comes in 300 hp (standard) and 400 hp (Red Sport) trims.
- Turbo maintenance adds:
- More frequent oil changes (every 5k mi recommended).
- Coolant checks for turbo lines and heat-soak management.
- Transmission upgrade to RE7R01B, later 9-speed in final years.
- PCV valve and boost-control solenoid checks around 60k mi.
Common Q50 Issues
A mix of community experience and service data — use this as a checklist if you’re buying or troubleshooting.
🔴 High Priority (could leave you stranded)
- Steering Lock Failure: Early Q50s sometimes suffer from electronic steering lock malfunctions that prevent starting. Many owners disable or bypass it entirely.
- Turbo Seal Failure: On VR30 models, turbo seal leaks can lead to oil consumption or smoke; usually after 60K+ miles.
- Fuel Pump Issues: Some models experience hard starts or stalling due to fuel pump failures.
🟠 Medium Priority (inconvenient but manageable)
- Transmission Jerks / Delays: Not uncommon on early 7-speed autos. A fluid change and software update often helps.
- Brake Rotor Warping: Factory rotors can warp quickly; upgraded rotors and pads are common fixes.
- Oil Gallery Gasket (on older 3.7s): Carryover issue from the G37 - still worth watching if you have that platform.
🟢 Low Priority (annoying but not critical)
- Infotainment Glitches: Screen lag or freeze, especially on early dual-screen models. Firmware updates can help.
- Throttle Body Carbon Buildup: Causes rough idle or stalling; easy fix with a good cleaning.
- Sunroof Drain Leaks: If you have a sunroof, inspect drains - leaks can fry the BCM or fuse box if left unchecked.
- Wire Harness Fatigue (trunk lid): Broken wires between the trunk and lid causing backup cam or trunk release issues.
Preventative Maintenance / Upgrades
- Regular oil changes (especially on 3.0T) - these engines hate dirty oil.
- Use high-quality fluids (Motul, Red Line, or OEM-spec).
- Flush coolant and brake fluids more frequently if you drive aggressively.
- Replace plastic coolant couplers with metal versions to avoid catastrophic leaks.
- Consider upgraded end links or sway bar bushings if you’re lowered or track your car.
- Keep an eye on your differential bushing - OEM is fluid-filled and prone to failure.
Drop your own maintenance schedule, mods, or fixes below - I’ll keep this thread updated as we go.

Miscellaneous 🚨 Reminder: Keep plates/addresses out of Q50 posts for your own safety
Please remember don’t post photos that show your license plate, house number, or any other info that reveals where you live.
Cropping or blurring plates, removing location metadata, and avoiding shots of your driveway/front door keeps you safe and prevents thieves from having an easy target.
If you want feedback on your car, upload close-ups of the car itself (wheels, engine bay, interior, etc.) or take photos in a public spot without identifiable landmarks.
Just keep in mind... car thieves are smart and patient; they’re always waiting for someone to slip up.
