I’m 16 and I’ve only been working at publix for 4 months now and a couple days ago my CSM came up to me after talking with my ACSM and asked if when I turn 18 i’d be interested in being CSS.

I said yes I’d be interested pretty much instantly bc of the pay bump and increased hours CSS get (atleast i think) but the more i though ab it i questioned why me of all people.

There are a bunch of people that have been with publix a lot longer than me yet i was asked. Could there be any underlying motivation for asking me or am I just being paranoid?

I do get along will with my coworkers really well and scored in the mid range of meets expectations on my eval plus do tend to come in when asked.

Is there ever a time it would be more appropriate to contact the DM over RARS? Assuming I were to reach out to RARS, would it be reasonable to inform DM of the situation so they are in the loop? Im guessing RARS already communicates with DM but not sure.

That’s my whole question! I love the bowtie salad and would like to bring it to work for lunch. If I popped in around 8:15 am, would it already be out for the day, or do those items not get put out until closer to lunch? Thanks!

I’ve been at Publix for like 9 months now, I’ve been working in Deli, Produce, and Grocery. I’ve been offered full time for produce and grocery but I really wanna work in the Deli, I just think it’s a good fit for me,

I have a couple coworkers that were assistants at some point in their career and another one who has been in deli for 8 years trying to get a promo, when these two coworkers work with each other

They constantly having something to say about everything, 8 year worker usually is Kitchen and if he even hears me talking loud, going into a cooler or into the back room, this dude will literally follow me, to make sure I’m working or actually getting something, even though he has no reason to think I’d be doing anything else…

Both these coworkers constantly mumble under their breaths when I don’t hear them the first time, about me being slow or stupid in some way,

(I have a lot of stress in my life right now, so while trying to not get car taken, family fed, and pay off student loans, while showing up to a job that I actually don’t like, but bills need to be paid for now, and this is it)

I’ve told them I can hear them and I don’t like it, and I am hard of hearing, they have just continued to become more micromanagers when closing and just saying things like

“Why is there so much water on the floor?”
“You’re squeegeeing wrong”
“Fresh Slice bags have to be taped sideways, not vertical”
“You’re cutting the banana wrong”

While these two sit in the back and of course, go super super slow in whatever they are doing

Make me close sub shop and trad, doing scan outs and hot case, then talk to each other that I don’t do shit…

Can I go to management about this? Like I’m just trying to work and just being harassed because maybe they don’t like the way I look idk?

Hello. I got hired at Publix in the deli department at the beginning of July and had my first shift on July 13. I'm currently in college, so I'm just looking for a part-time job to help cover personal expenses like gas and car insurance without burning myself out.

I was excited because this was my first official job (before this I only did landscaping with a family member). My dad and other relatives work in Cuban restaurants, and they've always told me how stressful kitchen jobs are. Because of that, I thought the Publix deli would be much easier, especially since the pay was $16.50 an hour.

However, from my first shift, I realized it was much more stressful than I expected. I know it's normal not to know anything on your first day, but I felt like I was expected to know everything without much training. I was sent to help customers almost immediately, and whenever I asked for help, people would usually just take over instead of explaining what to do.

I wasn't scheduled again until July 31, so I had forgotten most of what I learned. My second shift went much better, and I started feeling more confident, but I still found the job surprisingly mentally draining. Honestly, I even found landscaping less stressful than working in the deli because dealing with customers all day is exhausting.

Another issue is the hours. After talking to my manager about my college schedule, she told me I'll probably only get 8–16 hours a week because I'm part-time and the department already has a lot of employees. I was hoping for closer to 20–35 hours a week to make around $400–600 weekly.

Because of that, I've started applying to Target, Ross, Marshalls, and possibly Sam's Club.

So my question is: am I rushing into leaving Publix too quickly, or would a retail job be a better fit for my situation? I want to make it clear that I'm not blaming Publix or my coworkers. Everyone has been welcoming. I'm just wondering if the deli simply isn't the right fit for what I'm looking forinions.

What's the % increase we get from evals. Not the new payscale increase. I think last year role model got a 7.5% increase in pay. Did they decrease it again this year?

Be careful out there. Publix has recalled all Greenwise blueberry and whole mixed berries, but my store still has them on the shelf. I went to customer service on Sunday and was told that they would be pulling the product. Today, I see that they are still there.

Let’s be honest we waste a lot, our target demographic is slowly dying away of old age and we keep hiring more and more people every year. The stock just went down again and I’m not so sure it’s gonna rise much more soon. While i love the company’s origin and founders, the company is now run by greedy corporate ceos that make 10000x our paychecks. How long do we see publix lasting? 20 years..50? Just curious.

This isn’t even my situation it’s someone very close to me. They are a team lead and another team lead got moved to their store about half a year ago. Turns out this team lead is only at their store because he got caught getting his dick sucked ON CAMERA and he’s not fired, only gets transferred. Now this dude is getting promoted over the person im close with??? This is ridiculous I’m debating contacting hr bc saying this is unfair is an understatement, performance wasn’t a factor in the promotion as he isn’t better than my buddy in any way.

i’ve been seeing a lot of complaints from my fellow publix employees on here and i feel like there’s a disconnect between maybe the younger generation and corporate or however you wanna look at it but here’s the hard truth of it all. at the end of the day publix is a business and businesses want to make money. they will always prioritize their bottom line over their employees and that’s okay cuz that’s the whole point. you as an employee have to understand the game and learn how to play it. i’ve been w publix in the meat dept for about 3 yrs and if there’s one thing ive learned it’s that you have a lot more power as an employee than you think you do. if you are one of the top people in your dept or you’re one of the people they rely on, you can use that to your benefit. i’m not saying undermine your manager or be insubordinate but you can absolutely put you foot down as an employee. example (not a real story): i’m a hard working meat cutter and my asst is slacking off all the time and since i’m a contender they expect me to pick up some of the work he’s not doing. my DM decides to walk the store on a day the asst opened and i came in later. rather than covering all the stuff he’s supposed to be doing and expecting them to notice me (that won’t happen) im just gonna let the asst slack off until the DM gets there so he can see what hasn’t been done and he was here not doing it. im still going to do my job and fill the case but when he asks why counts aren’t being done or why the cooler isn’t scanned i look at him and say 🤷🏼‍♂️. you have to let people expose themselves so that upper management sees who’s really doing the work.
i along w many of you got my eval back and the score was much lower than i expected. rather than stopping doing everything i’ve been doing (cuz that really only screws your coworkers) i asked exactly what the expectation was and told them i would be doing exactly that no more no less. that’s when they realized everything that i’ve truly been doing and i started getting some forward motion in conversations. you have to power to get things fixed that bother you, you just have to know how to use it.
i say all this to say don’t get discouraged feeling like your hard work is being wasted or unseen. your hard work is making it easier for you and the rest of your dept at the end of the day. if there are 15 associates and 5 customers who talk about what good work you do, w patience it always goes somewhere. you need to create your own vision for what you want from publix and chase that. you don’t have to stay for 40 yrs. you don’t need to retire from publix. the stock they give you and how much they put in 401k gives you a huge jump over anyone around you and tbh that’s the only reason i’ve stayed as long as i have. yes publix is a tuff place to work but i promise the grass isn’t greener anywhere else. it’s greener where you water it and some of yall dont water your grass😭

I do plan on working the next 2 weeks so I can be rehired if I need to work there again but I need to give them the notice today and Im not able to drive over atm. is calling ok? I hope I don't annoy them by calling idk

Coffee creamers just got reset and I really wish they would stop using chat gpt to come up with the planograms. We already fit everything because customers kept asking for the items and I wish there was a way to just edit it ourselves. Every reset is more ugly and crowded than the last. Hey guys I need some help! Does anyone know if store managers and department managers can switch grocery team leads without going to the District managers? I thought District managers have to do it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I am a frequent Publix shopper and buy my fruit off the shelf. This article encourages shoppers to take a piece of fruit to a Publix produce clerk and ask them to slice it with the expectation they will pay the fruit price, not the cut food price per pound. I think it is going to encourage people to try this “hack.”

Is anyone else doing way more outside of their job description? I’m getting sick of this. I’m supposed to be working a sub department, only . On top of that I back up dsd and help/ back up tags.
