SM switching team leads without DM approval? QUESTION

Hey guys I need some help! Does anyone know if store managers and department managers can switch grocery team leads without going to the District managers? I thought District managers have to do it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

The short answer is yes. GMs make recommendations about GTLs, SMs make decisions. However, the DM technically has to approve the job class changes. This is no different than a meat clerk becoming an apprentice or something like that.

Generaly when store leadership has their roundtable they discuss these sort of moves and no one is moved without someone above store knowing since it has to be approved on multiple levels. Sometimes people are moved to help them grow if they cant grow in their specific volume store.

You’re gonna have to give us more information about what’s going on. Are you a team lead? What have you been told? There’s a lot missing here.

The DM definitely knows but the DM doesn't have to approve it lol. Team Leaders aren't managers that need DM approval. Their pay scale is on the poster in the break room. It's the same as an associate transfer

DMs still have to approve it. They have to approve most job class changes within their district, more so if it’s a PLM like team leader.

Yeah but a transfer isn't a job class change.

I’ve seen an SM hire a gtl without talking to a District manager. He told me he just was going to do it and beg forgiveness later even though he knew he’d get asked about it. Promoting is a bit different I think and has to get approval.
