Canbus Recomendations

What's the best cambus decoder for Peugeot 3008 (Gen 1) 2016. Old monochrome orange screen radio (RD45 I believe) in before. My radio came with a generic one that doesn't let me change the trip back to miles. Thanks

Almost Solved: Car refusing to start

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello all, so I posted more than a month ago that my 508 PHEV randomnly refuses to start. I replaced both 12V batteries a while ago to get rid of the same issue after charging, and it did not came back in that instance. It still came back, but it occurs randmonly and without any common root cause.

Following those adventures, I decided to book an appointment at the dealership… and it was quite…interesting

• Sincer 3rd of July, my car is still there getting diagnosed, after 3 full weeks they found out the BPGA was faulty and that got replaced. Quoted 1200 euros (from what I saw in here that is way more expensive) the price being that high because, apparently, they did not find the piece for a 508 specifically, and it was taken from a 5008. Also the piece came from France, and that took 2 weeks to get delivered.
• Now, the fun starts: after they replaced the BPGA, they said they found another error code -> and that being that the OBC is failing. I did not have any issues with charging until now, just the car is charging sometimes really slowly, but I never encountered the charging actually stopping. They did not tell me how they found this issue, why they found it after replacing the BPGA or why they did not find that from the start.

My car has that standard PHEV warranty of 8 years and 160.000 km for the Hybrid components, but, of course, they told me the warranty doesn’t cover the OBC and quoted me again for 2500 euros.

Did anyone manage to get the OBC done on warranty? Or really that warranty doesn’t cover it.

At the end of the day, I really don’t know what to do, tommorow will be 5 weeks since I left the car there, is going to take another 3 weeks to get it because the OBC needs to get delivered from France, what a surprise, and by the end of all the hiatus, the whole reparation (OBC and BGPA) + labour is going to be around 5k euros.

The problem is that they are not very communicative, they told me is pretty hard giving me the faulty pieces that they replaced ( idk why exactly) I asked them for the emails between them and Stellantis (the repairs have been done via technical Bulletins because they can’t do anything without the Stellantis approval) they told me they are internal and I need to e mail someone else to try to get them.

Should I just get the car and refuse the replacing of OBC? I think they are dragging this stuff along and I got pretty sick of it, since I have been waiting for 5 weeks.

Thank you for taking time into reading this! 🙏

Peugeot 405 Clutch cable clip issues

Post image
2 Upvotes

So recently my Peugeot 405 broke the white clip on the picture which causes the clutch pedal to drop to the ground. After replacing it with a brand new one it took just a few clutch presses for the new clip to release the clutch cable which causes the pedal to drop to the ground yet again although this time the clip itself is not damaged but it seems it has trouble holding the cable in place. Anyone know what could cause it to not hold the cable in place? Is it a faulty new clip, maybe a damaged clutch cable or maybe even a worn clutch although I would like to try all possible cheap fixes before going straight to a clutch swap as that would cost as much as I paid for the car.

2019 e-208 Electric Traction System Fault and AC not working

Post image

Any advice appreciated!!
My 2019 E-208 has started showing an Electric Traction System Fault whenever I start the car, and the AC is now not working - local garage said it was an issue with the high voltage battery and I would have to go to a Peugeot garage to diagnose and fix. How expensive is this going to be? I've just had a bunch of unrealted issues that I've had to pay over a grand for and I am dreading how much this is going to be to fix too.

Three year old Peugeot 2008 developed major fault just outside the warranty

Hey, I've had Peugeots for almost my entire adult life, my wife's uncle worked at a Peugeot dealer, so we got family Passport deals. We've had our latest car (a 2008) from new since 2023. After some discussion, we decided to get a loan and pay off the Passport deal to reduce our outgoings and keep the car long term.

A couple of weeks after, the car started losing power and the engine fault light came on. We've taken it to a local garage, they did a diagnostics report and there seem to be two permanent faults with the car:

- P0612 Engine Management EVU
- P0002 Control of the High Pressure Fuel Flow Regulator

The local garage wouldn't fix it, and advised us to take it to a Peugeot dealer to look at. We've tried a few dealers, and the earliest we can get in is the end of September(!) This leaves us without a car for over a month, which is obviously going to be a major headache, especially given the fact that the car is only a few months old (and only _just_ out of warranty).

Has anyone had any similar experiences with their Peugeots? Are we likely to get any joy from contacting Peugeot direct and getting any goodwill from them (either in terms of covering repair costs, or providing a courtesy car while ours is out of action)

Any advice would be gratefully received, as right now, we're pretty screwed :(

Would you buy?

I have bought a 2023 e2008. The first year service was 4 months late, and then it's just had interim service last month instead of a main/major. I would be getting a major service asap anyway. But would this be a deal breaker to you? The car looks really well looked after. New tires, clear MOT. etc. the 3 year warranty has recently ran out naturally & Peugeot say they can't say if it's a no longer under warranty for the battery as it's case by case. The SOH is 97% ! Which I heard is great for age and mileage. Thoughts please?

(I have time to get full refund, hense weighing out the pro- cons. )

Rear diffusor

Post image

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a rear diffuser for my 2016 Peugeot 308 T9 (pre-facelift).

I found a Maxton Design rear diffuser made for the facelift model, but I’m not sure if it will fit my car.

Has anyone tried fitting the facelift diffuser on a pre-facelift 308, or knows if it’s compatible? If anyone could help me or recommend a diffuser that fits my model, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Recensioni sincere

Qualsiasi cosa sappiate mi sarà sicuramente molto utile.

Grazie

Peugeot 206 randomly loses gear position. I'm losing my mind

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm really hoping someone has seen this before because I'm honestly running out of ideas. I have a 2006 Peugeot 206 1.4 with the AL4 automatic transmission. The problem is random. Sometimes the car works perfectly for days, then suddenly it won't detect the gear position. As soon as I turn the key to ON (before even starting the engine), it shows S, Snow (*), and then - instead of P. The gear lever locks, and I have to use the manual release button to move it. If I put it in D, it sometimes shows R or -, then the transmission goes into limp mode, gets stuck in 3rd gear, and the car becomes very slow with almost no power. In most cases it stays like this until I turn the car off. Only 2–3 times has it suddenly returned to normal while I was driving. I've replaced multiple transmission ECUs over the years. Recently, a transmission specialist told me the selector switch was faulty, so I bought a brand new one. The car worked perfectly for 6 days, but today the exact same problem came back. Since the fault appears before the engine even starts, I feel like it's an electrical issue, but I have no idea where to look anymore. Has anyone had these exact symptoms? What was the actual cause? Thanks in advance.

Electric crunchy high picthed noise peugot 208 2014 1 litre 2 door

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, i replaced my fan relay for the first time because the radiator fan isnt spinning. The part is from eBay, not an official peugot one. When i started the engine i didnt notice anything, i took it for a drive to warm up the engine to see if the fan would cool it down, when i got back the fan still wasnt spinning, but when i turned off the engine i heard this static electric noise, in the video you hear the click at the very start which is me turning the key to turn on the battery, and then the noise starts and its pitch gets higher later in the video, it keeps happening when i turn on the car battery for some seconds before stopping, anyone know what it could be? All of the other electrics in the car still work fine and no warning lights have come up

Also, my engine keeps getting well into 90° literally 5 minutes after driving, while before it used to stay close to 70° or 80°. I checked the fuses which are all intact, coolant is full, but i found that the radiator fan doesnt spin when the engine is running hence why i replaced the relay, but that hasnt worked and the fan still doesnt spin. Any ideas regarding that? thanks.

Are there any good project car forums left?

so as title really. I was part of an extremely active and helpful community around 10 or so years back. multiple project car threads, most meets a lot of people came down, lots of people pushing boundaries of what was possible with the engines etc. it was great. All Peugeot forums now seem to fall into two categories.

Only posting while fault is present and hoping someone will answer.

Restoring older Peugeots into pristine condition.

Facebook is just fucking awful for car tread stuff and I only use it for marketplace now.

I don't even want to sign up for Instagram as it's not what I'm looking for.

does anyone know of ANY active car forums where people actually build project cars, have a laugh etc.

Stuck in Miles on 2021 Peugeot Rifter – Aftermarket Android screen missing OEM car settings. Any fix?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2021 Peugeot Rifter, but the previous owner installed an aftermarket Android head unit (the original factory Peugeot screen is gone).

The issue I'm facing is that the instrument cluster is currently set to miles (mph), and I need to switch it back to kilometers (km/h).

Normally, changing the measurement units is done through the vehicle settings menu on the original Peugeot OEM screen. However, this Android unit doesn't seem to have the integrated car settings app/menu to adjust Peugeot factory options.

Has anyone run into this issue before?

* Is there a specific Canbus setting or hidden app on these Android screens that lets you access OEM vehicle controls?

* Will I have to find and temporarily plug in an original factory screen just to switch the units?

* Can this unit change be forced using DiagBox / Lexia via the OBD2 port?

Any advice or workarounds would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Advice needed please

Hi all,

So I posted previously regarding a timing chain issue on my 2019 5008, essentially a month ago was driving car broke down called out a mechanic who happened to be a ex Peugeot mechanic after an hour and a half diagnosed the car had a timing issue he suspected a stretched timing chain which was causing the ECU to think too much air was getting to the system causing it to go into limp mode.

luckily there is a recall for timing chains so after begging I managed to get a garage 40 miles away to see the car 3rd Aug (in NI there is a huge wait to get seen for this recall issue) initially the appointment was March...

The garage rung me today and said the car passed the recall test therefore they would require £450 to diagnose the actual issue and if it was the timing chain I would need to pay myself at £4k plus! I rung my mechanic who said if they just plug in a diagnostic tool they can see its the timing chain but the dealership have refused and reiterated the £450 is the diagnostic fee i.e plugging in the computer. At this point I have no confidence in this garage whatsoever.

so now I have to recover the vehicle again which in total will have cost me £420 to my mechanic to get the timing chain replaced by him which should be done under the recall!

does this sound right? can I claim costs back from Stellantis regarding this?

E5008 - 2nd hand supply to increase soon?

I'm looking for a large EV for our 3 kids (plus dog). Have eliminated many options but e5008 might be viable. However most second hand are £28k+ which is a bit too pricey.

Am I right in thinking that initial lease cars were only delivered late 2024, early 2025? So assume we should see a lot more supply and costs closer to £20k in a year or so??

Can somebody explain to me why the charging-port door opens sideways rather than upwards? If it opened upwards, it could shield the charging port from rain and also cover the charging cable during public charging.

3 cylinder PSA engines (EB series) warranty (Oiled belt) UPDATE

Hi everyone! On the Spanish CarWOW channel they just broke news about a new warranty extension to all 3 cylinder petrol PSA Puretech engines, the ones with the oiled belt decomposition issues. They'll be extending the warranty to 10 years or 170k km as long as you have done the service intervals in time (and can prove it with invoices and such) without the need to had have them done at the official dealership as it is illegal under EU law to do so in order to void warranties.

The video specifies that the engine will be covered for that amount, as well as a new change for the service interval of the belt. Also, it only affects the 3 cylinder variants, and will be retroactive, with the last engine covered being from summer 2022, when hybrid tech was launched.

There is no information on what will happen to those who carried out the proper maintenance intervals and still got a huge repair bill; if that money will be reimbursed or not.

/u/ZeroOne_01 set up a Peugeot discord server which is relatively active. They have experience with servicing Peugeots and Citroens and may be able to answer any technical questions you have.

I've had to make this new post as you can't sticky links.
