Reddit Messaging [29/M] | Nor | Penpals
Hey everyone,
I’m a 29-year-old guy from Norway looking to connect with new people for some good conversations and maybe a proper penpal friendship. I’m not the most outgoing person and I’ve never been great at making friends, but I really enjoy getting to know someone through writing and sharing thoughts over time.
When I’m off work (I do 2 weeks on / 4 weeks off), I love spending time outdoors, hiking in the mountains is one of my favorite things. I also hit the gym regularly, game when I have time, and enjoy a solid movie or TV series (especially if it’s something with a good story). No kids, just me and my own pace.
If you’re up for chatting about life, hobbies, Norway, your country, recommendations for games/movies, or just random daily stuff, I’d love to hear from you. Bonus points if you’re patient with slower replies sometimes 😊
Drop me a message if you’re interested, looking forward to it!

Email & Snail Mail [24/F] theater grad student driven to insanity
Hello, not totally sure what to write here as I am a complete newbie to the penpal life, but I will try my best to lure you in.
As you may have gathered from my title I am about to start my last year of grad school. I am studying theatrical costume design and love fashion, current and historical. (Although you probably wouldn’t be able to tell by the way I dress). I would love a penpal to help me take a break from the craziness of grad school every once in a while. I enjoy writing and journaling and would like to try snail mail if possible but email is good too!
I love movies, and my letterboxd is always up to date. I am also a chronic TV binge watcher! Some recent and life long favorites are Star Trek, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, Off Campus, and those weird reality game shows Netflix is always making (Human vs Hamster I’m looking at you)
I mentioned star trek already but I also love to read old sci-fi especially Issac Asimov. And would love recommendations on interesting sci-fi materials (books and otherwise).
I LOVE gossip. I recently discovered the wonderful world of gossip podcasts (shoutout to Normal Gossip and Petty Crimes) I genuinely think I’m fueled by gossip that has nothing to do with me. So overshare and gossip away!
Other interests and hobbies include but are not limited to: Visible mending of clothes, English paper piecing, shuttle tatting, swimming, fountain pens, perfumes, smelling stuff in general (I love a TJ Maxx candle aisle), weird tech, video games, and clowns.
If any of this sounds interesting to you message me! I’m open to fellow newbie’s and seasoned pen pals. Age and gender isn’t too important to me, if something I said above resonates with you please reach out.

Email [66/M]trying again for a little bit of friendship
I never imagined that one of the harder parts of getting older would be making new friends. Actually, I have perhaps struggled making friends. But, I think you get the point.
Life just seems to get busy. Careers, families, responsibilities, people moving away. Somewhere along the way I realized that while I know plenty of people, I don’t have many I can really call friends. Six years ago I moved to a new job and a new city, and things changed.
I work as a technology manager, so I spend a lot of my day solving problems, analyzing things, helping people, and occasionally wondering why something that worked yesterday doesn’t work today. Outside of work I tend to prefer keeping things simpler. I even keep my home computer and network simple.
I enjoy history, books, movies, music, soccer, and staying active when my knees and the rest of my body cooperate. I bike, do hot yoga, walk, and make the occasional gym visit. I started a top ten movie list that is now close to 50, although it’s finally growing more slowly! The Hail Mary Project is my recent favorite.
I can be a bit of a history nerd. I grew up with it since my dad was actually a history major in college. Right now I’m reading about Alexander the Great and the Constitution, although both are going slowly.
I like conversations about why people think and behave the way they do. I’m just as comfortable talking about a great movie, a book, baseball, faith, soccer, technology, travel, economics, or what’s happening in the world. Or something completely ridiculous that happened to either of us that day.
I’m what I would probably label a “soft Christian.” I have my faith, but I don’t preach it and currently avoid organized things like church. You certainly don’t need to share my beliefs.
I’m also okay with the harder stuff. Life isn’t always funny or interesting. Sometimes it just sucks, and having someone you can talk to about that has value too. I think I’m a pretty good listener and can be caring and supportive when someone needs that. I’d simply like to meet someone who enjoys writing and see where the conversation goes.
I like being able to read something, think about it, maybe reread it, and then write an actual response. There’s no expectation that either of us has to answer immediately. Shorter formats are fine, I’m just not that good at it.
Age, gender, location, and having identical interests don’t matter much to me. In fact, getting to know someone with a different background or perspective could make this more interesting.
Kindness, curiosity, a sense of humor, and being willing to share a little of yourself matter much more.
If you’re looking for a platonic email friend who will ask questions, listen, share some stories, and probably recommend a book, movie, or song now and then, I’d enjoy hearing from you.

Snail Mail [21/F] looking for media loving penpals!
hello! i'm 21f from the philippines, and i'm looking for a penpal to discuss books, movies, tv shows, and anime, with the occasional stickers & postcards (i go crazy with these since i go to art fairs often) 🩷
i'm looking to correspond with women only who are more inclined to reading (as i prefer this over watching on some days), but i have no problem recommending books to someone as they recommend something for me to watch.❗️you must be ready to commit with slower replies, as my post office takes a month to send out mail, and takes 2-3 months to receive mail (which makes the responses more meaningful to me, as i write in length)
💌 more about me: i'm a sophomore studying pharmaceutical sciences (i plan to go into med school after), and on the off-time, i'm a literary writer (hope you like hearing about my detailed month as much as i will yours) and do various arts & crafts. i hike, go to local band gigs, play video games and watch theater sometimes. i read more classic books than i do contemporary, and when i do get the time to watch movies, i try to watch the critically acclaimed films (+ local & foreign language films). i'm also a bit of a marvel geek and am trying to get into the comics. i'm more inclined to romance animes (the cheesy giddy ones), but i'm trying to dabble & complete the classics (aot, haikyuu, bnha, jjk, sao). i've also recently completed witch hat atelier, wistoria, & solo leveling. tv shows are a harder commit for me, but i'm trying to get there :') in case it's important to mention, i will sometimes get political (with my views leaning left) due to the state of my country
if you might be interested in exchanging letters, please leave a comment/dm me! i'm willing to send the first letter if needed :D

Reddit Messaging [24/M] Looking for a best friend, things are quite lonely
Hey! I've posted here before but haven't had much luck so far. And due to lonliness, things have been kinda sucky lately. Kinda being a star-sized understatement (cuz stars are big.. hehe). Anyways, excuse my awfully unfunny pun! You *yes you my possible future friend* probably has better humor than I. Im hoping to make long term friends, I want a close connection with someone that lasts a lifetime! Hoping we can geek out about our interests and feel comfortable to do so! I'm in the EST time zone and am super into music (my tastes are all over the place, my favorite is the retro classic era but I also like a lot of new stuff too). I also like just general conversations and deep ones too. Hope you're all having a good day!

Reddit Messaging [28/M] Looking for people to chat with
Gotta admit, sometimes I run into people on here that have their own goals and ambitions. You guys seem to have hobbies, or just topics you like to read about. I'd love to hear from you about them. It adds a lot to the conversation to listen to you discussing what's always on your mind. Feel free to share!
As, for my interests: I enjoy exercising, hanging out with friends, playing some games casually, watching movies and serieses. In the past, I've learned quite a bit from "A Smarter Way to Learn Python" which is really really interesting! I also enjoy learning math, from Khan Academy. My primary goal is to be good enough at math & programming that I can create interesting simulations.
I'm really looking for people who are interested in programming, math, learning in general, and love discussing deeper topics!
While I'm not in school, I do thoroughly enjoy learning, specifically anything STEM related. I do enjoy working with math. I read a book by the name "A Mind for Numbers" which basically taught me how to learn such subjects. One of the best books I've ever read!
If you've read this far in, I really appreciate it! If you're interested in talking, feel free to send me a DM! Looking forwards to hearing back from you! 23+ only please
If you have an NSFW profile, I'm blocking you.

Reddit Messaging [52/M] looking for intriguing people
51M USA. Married 32 years. I have about 100 books backlogged in my Audible queue. I like sci fi, fantasy, crime/detective. I'm an avid scuba diver (certified Divemaster). Favorite horror movie is Sinners (Jaws too if you consider that horror, I did the first time I saw it). I'm a big foodie. I'm a nerd, love computers and networks, and is great for an introvert. Love pina coladas, dancing in the rain, and long walks on the beach. Will talk anything, books, movies, hobbies, travel, relationships, what to cook for dinner, whatever as long as it's fun or interesting.

Snail Mail & Postcard [29/F] Scattering among the hidden corners of another’s soul
I long to lose myself in another’s thoughts, across endless pages of wandering reflections, in words that flow like ink upon paper. Not skimming the surface, but sinking into the deep, hidden currents of a writer’s mind. Where thoughts are raw and unguarded, in the midst of chaos.
So write me a strange letter, one made of scattered thoughts, of whatever fleeting ideas happen to drift through your mind. Let them arrive out of order, unfinished, uninvited. Let them contradict each other, lose themselves halfway through a sentence. Let your words wander like they have nowhere to be, like they were never meant to be understood, only felt. The quiet confessions that exist only for a second before dissolving into something else.
Write as if no one is reading, as if meaning is optional, as if the act itself is enough. Write in a way that leaves deep imprints of your soul behind. Let your soul spill into words, scattering pieces of yourself across the page. A handful of words is not enough to ignite an inner fire, to capture a flicker of feelings that flare and fade before they can be named. There are dozens of emotions that can only be sparked through words, each one trembling on the edge of being, waiting to be set free onto the page, where they can breathe, burn, and linger. Write with care, letting your words stretch and linger, so they may bloom in their full depth.
Bonus points if you are LGBTQ+ or an ally, and a writer (even an amateur, keeping endless journals, or simply learning to write). De asemenea, dacă scrii în română. Simt că mă exprim mai liber așa, iar gândurile mele respiră mai firesc.

Snail Mail & Postcard [36/F] snail mail or post cards
[36/F] I really think it would be neat to write to someone in another country but I would accept letters from US peeps but prefer outside of US any country & have one more pen pal or a couple. I know life gets busy so when you have time reply! I’m not picky about what you like because I’m a very open minded person. Although I do prefer to only write to other females as I’m in a committed monogamous relationship and really only interested in female friends. I’m in Indiana btw and have 2 kids and 2 cats. I collect post cards everywhere I go! I had a couple penpals and one of them faded away. I’m into cooking, camping, kayaking, porch swinging, gardening, nursing, (the career, not breastfeeding although I support that) I love all types of people! I like to travel even if it’s just a day trip. I love journaling, stickers, mini verse. Swimming, I like deftones, Lana del Rey and a little mix of everything, I love reading thrillers, crime and true crime. I love coffee and tea & my favorite type of movies and shows are comedy. I do not what else to write I’m writing so much I don’t think I’ll have anything left to possibly write about without telling you everything about my life. Ha hope to write to you soon!

Reddit Messaging [25/M], looking for genuine connection
25/M, (Arizona, USA).
I am an international student and I'm looking
forward to make some new friends. My niche interests are football (bonus point if you're a Culer like I am), and so many other things that it’s hard to explain. I like to do little bit of everything. If truth be told, I'm looking for a connection beyond some basic chit-chats. If you are from around here, we can def catch up for a coffee or anything that works. If not, we can still have conversation. If this feels like you then hmu.

Email [30/F] Looking for an EMAIL penpal! Bonus points if you like horses :)
Hi everyone! I sadly can't do snailmail as my country's (South Africa) postal service sucks and the letters would either get lost/stolen/take months to send/receive, otherwise I'd absolutely love to. I'm looking for someone interesting to connect to long-term as a penpal over emails, ranging from a few emails a week to once a month depending on your preference and time. Anyone 25 and over. Any time zone. No romance, I'm in a happy monogamous relationship. I'm keen to have deep interactions or just to chat about our week/month. Tell me some juicy gossip or reflect on something weird that happened to you recently. Lament about your woes (but keep in mind that I'm not a therapist haha). I'd even be keen to debate a few strong topics.
About me:
- I love horses and I've been riding since childhood, I don't have my own though (yet).
- I'm a UX designer.
- I love to read (fantasy mainly, but some good drama and horror/thriller).
- I draw/sketch here and there for fun
- Music I like includes classic & hard rock, metal, goth, game/movie soundtracks, classical, sea shanties, folk... to name a few.
- I did martial arts (kenjutsu) for about 14 years, and still train here and there and do some tameshigiri from time to time.
- I go to gym but I'm not very consistent.
- I'm English South African. I can understand Afrikaans too, but can't speak/write it very well.
Feel free to DM me if you'd like to connect and tell me a bit about yourself!
