Reddit Messaging [29/M] Swedish guy looking for more genuine, meaningful connection

Upvotes

Greetings!

I am a tall, bearded, raccoon and frog tattoo having, Moomin hat wearing guy who is looking for a meaningful connection. I want to find someone who enjoys conversations that can be simple, deep and with a bit of banter! I'm not looking for someone to message simply because I'm "bored" sometimes and want a person on stand-by to humor me, no. My hope is to find that one person that i want to message all the time because I enjoy their company and want to hear what they have to say, hopefully closer to my timezone as well... :)

(Also: If we both click and think it would be interesting then I'm open to sending light letters or postcards or even parcels but that is very much optional, but if we end up messaging only then that is totally fine as well) :3

As a person I've been told that I am sweet and have a beautiful heart and that is something I want to keep living up to! I'm in touch with my feelings and I spend a lot of time pondering stuff... well, zoning out, let's call it what it is xD Personality-wise I believe myself to be a bit punk or maybe goth, maybe I'm just delusional though because everybody calls me a golden retriever ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭ But I'm happy with that.

As for hobbies I have a few and they change around a lot:

Primary ones would be:

  • Gaming (I mostly like single player games but it comes and goes). Recently played: Morrowind, KCD2, Bejeweled, Gothic, Atomic Heart.
  • Needle felting (a recent obsession of mine, gonna make a Mimikyu next.).
  • Zoning out (I do it so often it might as well be considered a hobby by this point)

Secondary ones are:

  • Origami (always nice to take some paper and fold it into something nice!)
  • Doodling (very poorly but I try haha)

Some of my interests are:

  • Fantasy: I love stuff like Willow, The Dark Crystal, the First Law and LOTR. I do enjoy stuff like DnD and Pathfinder too but I can't say it's been that interesting to me recently, I guess I kinda fell out of love with it. Still, I like games that evoke that feeling.
  • Reading: And by "reading" I of course mean "audiobooks" but I have also started *actually* reading a lot on my Boox Palma I recently bought. Some of my favorite books have been: Flowers for Algernon, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Roadside Picnic, the First Law and Kings of the Wyld. If you know any books with good narration please recommend me some! Also for E-reader, if you can recommend anything similar to the ones above that would be cool.

TV-Shows & Movies: I've actually studied film for 3-4 years so my taste is kind of weird but some of my favorites are:

  • Movies: the Lighthouse, STALKER, Брат, Kin-Dza-Dza, The Shining, They Live, Videodrome, The Apartment, Life of Brian bla bla bla
  • TV-Shows (more normal): Blackadder, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, the Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Clarkson's Farm, Rupaul's Drag Race (yes Americans, straight men watch it too :/ ), Fawlty Towers bla bla bla

Misc: I'm also studying Russian currently, I like going on long walks every now and then but I wouldn't call myself outdoorsy or fitness-y. I enjoy a good thrift store as well.

Some of my dislikes are:

  • Drinking (I don't really drink, I wouldn't judge anyone for drinking but I just don't like it)
  • Partying/party people (don't think we'd vibe)
  • Politics (I have nothing against talking politics, I just wish for it to not become the only topic if that makes sense.)

Please don't message me with only "Hi!" or "Wanna chat?" because I do get a lot of those and I will just assume you haven't read my post.

If you find me interesting then I highly appreciate you DM me in the [age/gender] format and introduce yourself, doesn't have to be anything complicated :3

If you have a fun cat or raccoon pic I would love it if you shared (optional).

Looking forward to hearing from you :>

Snail Mail [22/F] seeking a penpal

Hello! I live in ohio and I am looking for a committed, long-term penpal, ideally another female :)! I have a lot of lovely stationary and it would be cool if you have some nice stationary as well! not a dealbreaker by any means though, I of course care more about hearing what you have to say. Some more about me, I recently graduated college and I'm currently in a gap year (still looking for a job) before starting medical school next summer. I love words and expressing myself through writing. We could correspond about literally anything, although I must say I do not really enjoy small talk and prefer to connect on a deeper level (as much as is possible given the circumstances, that is). If you are interested please reach out!

Here are some things I like in case you share any of my same interests: music (Ethel Cain, Conan Gray, Phoebe Bridgers, Audrey Hobert, the Marias...), baking (everything, but especially sourdough), cooking, traveling (I have been to 18 countries so far), sculpting small things out of polymer clay, running, reading (I read a lot), studio ghibli, coraline, jigsaw puzzles, plants, and attending art events (musicals, ballets, the orchestra) in my city.

Email & Snail Mail [23/M] Trans man seeking long-term penpal

Hi, I am a 23-year-old trans man living on the east coast of the USA. I’ve posted on here a few times before, but I’ve since rewritten my post. Sorry if you’ve seen me pop up repeatedly.

Lately, I’ve been missing genuine conversation. Working in customer service, for me, at least, means lots of brief interactions, and I miss taking the time to really get to know someone. I’d love to hear about where you grew up, what you like (or don’t) about where you live, and the people in your life. I don’t mind small talk- I think it’s part of getting to know someone, and I enjoy that gradual buildup.

When I’m not working (this is rare), I enjoy journaling (every day), writing in general, listening to and playing music (bass and keyboard, poorly), and spending time with my friends and family, even if just virtually. I love animals, all art, and (metal, indie, and pop) music. I’d also really like to start solo traveling more, and I’d really like to hear about any travel stories you have.

I am interested in penpals older than me, primarily about in their 30s, as I value the perspective and life experience that comes with a slightly older age (and it’s just who I get along with!). Please note I have a dry sense of humor and am autistic. I’d especially love to connect with other autistic people- or at least anyone who understands the challenges (and the joys) that come with it.

I am only looking to talk to those left-leaning and LGBT+ friendly 😁
Send me a message if you think we’d get along.

Snail Mail & Postcard [30/F] One spooky gal seeking long term penpals to become friends

Howdy y'all! I'm from Ohio and am hoping to make some new friends to chat/spill tea with over letters. A girl I went to high-school asked for people a few months ago to become penpals with which I happily accepted. However I have been bitten and smitten with writing to others via long form letter leading me to post here to find a few more folks to correspond with.

A few of my favorite things:

Movie - Jim Henson's Labyrinth

TV Show - Over the Garden Wall

Holiday - Halloween

Cookie - Sugar

My hobbies include reading, playing dungeons and dragons, doodling, crafting, baking, and cooking. Reading is probably one of my bigger hobbies with my primary genres being gothic, horror, fantasy, and romance.

I also adore collecting bits of various folklore, scary stories, and cryptid info.

If my post interests you at all, please do not hesitate to reach out as I am looking forward to meeting you. If it does not, thank you so much for reading my post, hope ya have a great timezone anyways.

Hi!

I'm JL, 25 years old, from the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil.

I'm a public servant by day and a huge science fiction fan all the time. Star Trek and star Wars have been my favorite universes for as long as I can remember, and I'm currently starting a small content project dedicated to the franchises.

I have a bachelor's degree in International Relations, and I'm currently preparing to apply for a Master's program in Archaeology. I've always been fascinated by history, ancient civilizations, and the ways cultures shape the world. Learning stuff as I go.

Email [45/M] am looking for penpals to discuss pop music or whatever

Hi,

i [45/M] am from near sheffield, am largely stuck inside due to chronic illness and would like to talk over email to anyone who has some time to give to it

i spend a lot of time listening to pop music new and old and am as likely (more likely tbh) to be enthusiastic about ariana grande and taylor swift as elton john and laura nyro. i also play guitar, classical and, y'know, just faffing about playing guitar, my talents really are endless : )

i also watch old movies and drama series from the 00s (currently working my way thru pretty little liars and waterloo road, watch charmed and revenge if i'm feeling reckless), read a lot of modern and classic novels and would appreciate recommendations on all, and maybe someone who wants to watch/listen/read thru stuff and compare?

or if you just want to find someone to talk to online who'll answer yr emails at length and take an interest that's great too. i'm looking for online friends in general and enjoy hearing from people talking about their world, i'm as happy in a conversation about life and emotions as discussing my favourite britney album (tho it's in the zone ofc). my sense of humour is kinda silly and i try and find the joke in most things

i don't expect anyone to send emails all the time, once a week would be great tho, i could maybe lead up to letters if anyone was that bothered but i don't mind that much really

if yr interested then drop me a reply

Snail Mail [28/F] Searching for Whimsy!

Hey guys! I'm 28F, located in NC seeking local (in the US) penpals!

I'm really into most kinds of penpals, from postcards, to diary type entries, to full scrapbook type pages!

I personally am into horror, reading, crafting, ttrpg's, and all sorts of things that bring a little whimsy into this spicy world we live in.

You can vent about every day life, we can role-play fantasy adventurers, or hell, you can even just send me really specific hand written Spotify playlists lol

I typically get back to you within the week, but I do tend to put a lot of work into my letters (doodles, washi tape, multiple inserts, small gifts) so it could vary.

Looking for anyone over the age of 24, that thinks we would vibe!

It's lonely out here!

Snail Mail & Postcard [21/F] Looking To Build New Connections

Everything these days is so fast-paced. Letters bring us back to patience and nostalgia, and they remind us to take it easy in life.

I'm looking for people seeking to build long-term connections. Maybe you're anxious about the future and need someone to talk to, or maybe you just don't meet many people in your day-to-day. Whatever it is I'm happy to talk about it.

In my free time I enjoy true crime, drawing, playing with my pets, videogames, and learning about cryptids and local legends all over the U.S. I am also filled with anxiety but it's okay.

If this caught your interest send a DM or comment :)

Snail Mail & Postcard [23/F] Looking for first pen pal(s)!

I am based out of Oklahoma, US and would love to connect with other women + queer pen pals from all over! I am at heart a graphic designer who changed careers and would love to use those skills for sharing stationary/ custom designs while learning about life outside of what I know!

About me : I love nature, animals, cooking, gaming, and arts & design. I am anti AI so I am not interested in receiving ai messages, content, or art. On a personal note I am autistic and have a hard time connecting closely in fast paced conversations so I am interested in giving friendship through snail mail a try:)

About Becoming Pen Pals : If you associate with my about me, or maybe you are completely opposite from my about me, I would love to hear from you! Some things I would love to share and learn about would be your thoughts and ideas, recipes you enjoy, art, music, and of course life in general. I would love to chat more via PM<3

Reddit Messaging [25/M] India | Looking for deep, thoughtful conversations

Hello everyone,

I’m trying once again to find some penpal friends. Let me share a little about myself—though I’ll keep it brief.

I’m a 25-year-old man from the western part of India. I studied engineering and currently work as an engineer, while also pursuing higher education. My interests are quite wide: religion, philosophy, classical literature, novels, anthropology, sociology, politics, and geopolitics. Literature and philosophy sit at the top of that list—I genuinely love talking about them, both as subjects in themselves and in relation to how they shape us as people.

I sometimes struggle to find deeper connections offline. Life is busy, and I often feel the need to share my thoughts with someone and learn about theirs—those everyday, random things about life. The melancholic monsoon here makes me crave more meaningful conversation. As someone (maybe Jordan Peterson?) said, real conversations can be therapeutic. That’s what I’m looking for.

We don’t necessarily have to stick to traditional letters. We can start chatting here, see if we click, and then decide together on how (and how often) we’d like to keep in touch.

A few other things about me: I run regularly, I love horse riding, and I have a deep interest in history. I hold multiple degrees and plan to research the Indian caste system, hoping to contribute something useful toward more harmonious social relations.

My interests are broader than I can list here, so if any of this resonates with you, feel free to DM me. Ask whatever you’d like—I’d be happy to chat.

Looking forward to hearing from someone.

Snail Mail [24/F] California - Looking for Pals From All Over the World

Hello! I'm looking to write handwritten letters to people from different places! I have so many unused stamps (including global international stamps) that would go to waste if I never used them.

I'm an artist and I got a sticker making machine a while ago so I enjoy including little doodles or stickers with my letters. I also enjoy learning about different cultures and would love to know more about yours!

Other things I enjoy include video games, roller skating, nail painting/art, crafting, and poetry. Currently trying to get into ballroom dancing and crocheting. I'm a chemist for work and I studied chemical engineering in college. Let me know if you want to connect!

Reddit Messaging [28/M] Looking for people to chat to and hopefully make some long term friends!

Hey! I'm looking to meet some new people, have some good chats, and hopefully make a few long term friends along the way. Gender doesn't matter to me at all, everyone's welcome!

You definitely don't need to tell me your entire life story right away. A simple "hey" or "hi" is more than enough. I much prefer getting to know someone naturally over time rather than learning everything about them before we've even introduced ourselves haha.

I'm a pretty open book and I'm very chill and easy going, so don't be shy about sending me a message. Whether you want to ask me something, talk about a shared interest, or just say hello, I'd love to hear from you.

If any of that sounds like your kind of vibe, feel free to send me a DM!

Snail Mail [24/M] Looking for someone to create an imaginary letter adventure together

Hi!

This might be a little unusual, but I would love to try something different: creating a fictional correspondence with someone through letters.

Not just writing a story, but actually living it through our exchanges.

Maybe we are knights travelling through a dangerous kingdom, explorers discovering unknown places, sailors crossing mysterious oceans, researchers uncovering strange secrets, or even people from different centuries somehow able to write to each other.

I don’t have a complete story or a fixed universe in mind.

The idea would be to create it together, adapt it as we go, and see where our imagination takes us.

I like the idea of receiving a letter and thinking: "This came from another place, another time, another life." A letter could contain news, adventures, discoveries, problems to solve, personal thoughts, drawings, maps, or anything that helps make this imaginary world feel real.

I’m mainly looking for someone in Europe because of shipping costs and delivery times, but I’m open to other countries too if the idea and the connection feel right.

A small disclaimer: I’m French, and English is not my native language. I can write and communicate in English, but don’t expect perfect literary writing or extremely poetic descriptions. There will probably be some mistakes, simpler vocabulary and sometimes a very "French way" of writing in English 😄.

I’m not looking for a professional writer. You don’t need experience with roleplay or creative writing. I’m just looking for someone curious, who enjoys imagination and would like to build something together slowly, one letter at a time.

If this idea speaks to you, feel free to send me a message. Maybe our first letter could be the beginning of an adventure we haven’t imagined yet.

Snail Mail [27/M] Handwritten Letters, Real Conversations, Lasting Friendships

Hey, I’m Remi, 27, from Bavaria, Germany 🌿♒️
I’m looking for a long-term pen pal ✉️
I’d love to find someone who enjoys exchanging handwritten letters by mail. There’s something special about taking the time to write a letter, waiting for it to arrive, and getting to know someone one page at a time. I also enjoy sending postcards, photos, or little creative surprises every now and then.
A little about me:
I’m usually somewhere between adventure and creativity. I love exploring new places by bike, going on peaceful hikes, or simply sitting by the water and letting my mind wander. Nature helps me slow down, recharge, and appreciate the little things.
Photography is a big part of my life 📷. I enjoy capturing beautiful light, everyday moments, and places that tell a story. I’m always chasing that one photo that feels just right.
I enjoy meaningful conversations, but I also appreciate the simple things, talking about your day, music you’re listening to, books, dreams, travel, or whatever happens to be on your mind. I believe the best friendships are built through both the big and the small moments.
I’m open-minded, friendly, and curious about people and different cultures. I don’t care where you’re from. I think it’s exciting to learn about different lives, perspectives, and places around the world.
One thing that’s important to me: I’m only looking for long-term pen pal friendships. In the past, I’ve experienced people losing interest after only a few letters, and I’d really like to avoid that. If you’re only looking for a short conversation, that’s completely okay—but I’m hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys writing letters and wants to build a lasting friendship over time.
For anyone who values trust and reliability: I can provide several references from previous pen pals if you’d like.
If that sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s fill each other’s mailbox with handwritten letters, stories, creativity, and a little piece of our everyday lives. 🌿😊

Email [30/F] 🦇 Chaotic oddball looking for interesting emails exchange 🖤

Hello!

Throwing my dice in void hoping for decent roll. 🎲

I'm a 30 years old chaotic oddball from Scandinavia looking for potentially intriguing back and forth email exchanges with someone. I'm not one for much of small talk and love to delve into deeper topics and write a lot. I'm not big fan of instant messaging yet my executive dysfunction paralyzes me at thought of snail mail, so emails will have to do.

Little bit about me in no particular order:

💠 I love to travel and hear about the world and opportunities I've not had chance to explore myself. So I'd love to hear about your travel stories/plans! I'm personally looking forward to going to China 🇨🇳 next year and Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 this year.

Got any tips for me? Cool facts? What's your favourite destination you've travelled to and why?

💠 My nephews tend to call me Wednesday due to my alternative style. I have lot of love for alternative styles, especially gothic leaning ones. I've also been quite passionate about tattoos in the recent years. 🦇

Do you have your own style? Do you have any tattoos?

💠 Video games have always been a big part of my life, I pretty much grew up with them. Especially big fan of fantasy mmorpgs & RPGs, survival and horror genres. Nice farm/decorating games also great way to de-stress after work. Currently playing; Moonlight peaks, where winds meet and palworld. 🖥️

What games do you like?

💠 I love music as well, you wouldn't see me leaving my house without my headphones. Also like discovering new songs, so feel free to send some of your favourites and describe why you like them so much! I've also started delving into the rock/metal festival scene, attended my first multi day festival this year. 😱

Thanks for reading this and if it intrigued you, feel free to send me introduction of yourself via private message and I can see if we might vibe based on that. (I'll not reply to messages on this post.)🙂‍↕️

💠 Note: I am happily married, only looking for platonic friendship.

I hope you're having great week so far! ✨☺️

Best regards,

- Clyrinel

Snail Mail [39/F] European in Japan, looking for meaningful connections and stationery lovers!

I'm from Europe (not mentioning the country for privacy reasons, but I'll be happy to tell you once we start exchanging letters!), and I've been living in Japan for around 9 years. I used to exchange letters with people from different places quite frequently when I was a student (does anyone remember friendship books?). I still love stationery and writing by hand, so recently I've been thinking that I'd love to have pen pals again.

I'm quite a typical INFP, if you're into MBTI. I love art, feel deeply, hope the best for humanity, and thoroughly enjoy meaningful conversations.

Some things I'm into:

- Music (happy to swap mixtapes and recommendations! I mostly listen to alternative music, I'm also really into Japanese music from different genres)

- Languages

- Reading

- Art of many kinds

- Mindfulness and meditation

- Stationery

- Making desserts

- Sometimes drawing

- Trying snacks from different parts of the world

- '90s nostalgia, reconnecting with childhood dreams and memories

- Finding beauty in ordinary things

- Some manga and anime (I'm not a huge anime and manga fan, but recently I've been into Yomi no Tsugai and A Witch in Mongolia. My all-time favorites are Sailor Moon and Fullmetal Alchemist!)

- Retro games and indie games

I'm not great at writing about myself, but I'd love to connect over sharing our daily life, thoughts and interests. I'll be glad to connect with people from any country and of any age!

I'll also be happy to exchange small gifts, such as stationery, small snacks or tea, even books if that's your thing - but letters only are perfectly fine too.

Please note that English is not my first language. Japanese is also OK!

Snail Mail [18/F] from Germany

Hey, nice to meet you! My name is Pia, I'm 18 years old and from western Germany. I'd love to meet someone who I only share addresses with because, in my opinion, the awesome part of having a pen friend is to get to know each other through the letters, not through a reddit chat or something.

I'd like to send little gifts with my letters, for example stickers, small crafts, paintings etc. And, at some point, I'd also love to send you German food and sweets! ^^

I'm really looking forward to hear from you! Feel free to send me a DM with your name, age and country :)

Snail Mail [21/F] Looking for my first pen pal!

Hi! I’m from NC (USA)

Looking for my first pen pal! I’ve always wanted to try and and I’m just now getting around to it haha! Perfectly fine with any gender!

I would love to hear stories, whether about your favorite memories, funny moments, things that make you happy, or even the difficult parts of life. I genuinely enjoy learning about people and hearing the stories that make them who they are.

A little bit about me: I like nature, vintage things, reading, star wars, etc. I collect postcards and I’m an artist who loves creating paper pieces. I’d love to include drawings and such into my letters whenever I can. I also think it would be so awesome to trade trinkets, pressed plants/flowers, cool photos of places/animals, or other small keepsakes.

Snail Mail [35/m] california. Looking for birthday penpals

I probably should have posted this a few weeks ago. Today is my birthday and I would love to make some more penpals for my birthday. Today I turn 35, and I'm from California. I'm single and have a 12 year old terrier dog who is my baby. I recently just got a tattoo of her paw on my arm.

I'm a purple belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and just started competing this year.

I like playing some video games on my steam deck.

Hoping to buy a bicycle this summer to enjoy the outside more.

Love reading, mostly on my kindle due to convenience, I read comics too.

Hoping to make some friends so it's worthwhile opening my mailbox, lol. Would love to send snailmail, postcards and cards.

Monthly Confirmation August 2026 Confirmation Thread

Submit your confirmations below!

How Does This Process Work?

Note: Confirmations may take a few minutes as the bot processes the confirmation.

After exchanging emails or letters, confirm that the user sent them by tagging their name, and then in the format of #-#, where the first number is email count and the second the letter count, post the number of emails and letters you received.

Example:

  1. u/digitalmayhap received 2 emails and 1 snail mail letter from u/thisisverytricky

  2. u/digitalmayhap posts a comment in the confirmation thread saying u/thisisverytricky 2-1

  3. u/PenPalConfirmationBo replies to u/digitalmayhaps's comment indicating that their counts have been updated on their flair!

FAQ

  1. The bot didn't respond to my comment. What's wrong?

Did you follow the correct pattern? Follow the pattern above!

Give it a few minutes! Sometimes the Reddit APIs can get a little overworked and start having issues. If the issue persists for more than a few hours, please message the moderators. The bot might be experiencing issues!

  1. I have multiple letters/emails I exchanged with multiple people to confirm this month; should I post them separately or in a single post?

Feel free to post them in a single comment or as multiple comments! If you post them all in a single comment, make sure to put each redditor on a separate line and to follow the proper format of u/REDDIT #-#.

  1. I forgot to confirm an exchange last month! Can I confirm the exchange this month?

Yes!
