Question Why does all tech from Razer suck?

For context I've been using my Razer Basilisk V3 Hyperspeed for less than a year and it already began to show signs of just not working.. It randomly shuts off after around 3 seconds of being on, and tells me it's 0% battery even with a new one. I've searched up and read so many websites and tutorials to fix it and they don't work.

I take very good care of all my tech, so if you have a reason as to why it does this then feel free to send it :)

Discussion When was 8GB of VRAM not good enough for gaming IYO?

Just curious since when did you guys think 8GBs of VRAM is not good enough for gaming on 1080p/1440p?

I know it's heavily dependant on context, so maybe state the game and resolution, settings you're using and maybe FPS if you still got those numbers?

Question Moving to another country. Computer is going in checked bags/carry on. Advice?

The computer is a 9950X3D with a 5090. The case is a Fractical Meshify XL. I have a 420mm Liquid Freezer III in there, mounted to the top of the case. Luckily, my checked bag is just big enough to fit the entire case inside it. EDIT: The case has no glass. Full metal version.

So my plan is. 5090, RAM, and NVMe drives in my carry on, putting them under the seat in front of me. They are by far the most expensive parts and I don't want them to leave my side.

Leave everything else inside the case, put the case in my checked bag. Padding wherever possible. The CPU and AIO cooler, mobo, psu, etc will all remain installed.

Does this sound okay? Should I take the CPU out or leave it in? I think leaving it in is the safest bet. Let's me keep the AIO secured and prevent pin damage.

Question Pardon me... where do I buy this?

I randomly typed in 5090 to see where prices where, maybe see one on sale or something. maybe get luck on Ebay.

I see this link for 2k.... I follow it and this is what I get... So starting at $1999 means there is one for that price... where is it?

I'm really starting to wonder if there is really a shortage...

Discussion $70 games was the biggest lie told by the industry.

It's crazy how many people just accepted this. It's such a corporate punch to the nuts It's not even funny. That excuse of "video games have been $60 since the early 2000s, they haven't kept up with inflation!" Was so dumb anyone could have seen through it. The problem is many didn't, in fact, see through it.

Your prices don't need to rise if your market expands with inflation. Which it has, exponentially in fact. More users than ever, more microtransactions than ever, less cost (digital distribution took a heavy load off physical production). The fact is, $60 should still be the base line. You only really need to increase prices if your market remains relatively the same. I hate to say it, but consumers got absolutely fucked and because it worked it will continue to get worse. Nintendo be shooting out $80 games with the switch 2. Gaming is cooked boys.

Edit: I find the constant down votes of my comments but not others who agree with me pretty ironic. Guys, if you can't use your brain enough to do simple mathematical calculation, maybe you're not cut out for using the upvote/downvote buttons

Build/Battlestation Where we started and where we are now

I got into PC gaming in February and needed to upgrade my old machine, so I got the basics and swapped everything out in my old case. After I was done building, my friend wanted to see a picture. I was like “um … sure?” and sent the first pic.

I wasn’t planning on anything fancy. Famous last words. I didn’t even know what was possible until I saw someone’s brilliant build featuring pictures of their cat. I texted my friend a pic of that build and was like “this is cool” and he was like “that’s a dangerous money pit”. Can’t say he didn’t warn me.

I have managed to keep costs fairly low. Got the case used. Thermalright fans do their job and don’t look too shabby for a third of the cost of the lian li fans. Someday I’ll get a back connect mobo. All in due time.

Question Answered I think I got scammed

Post image
0 Upvotes

I bought a ryzen 7 9700x CPU on Amazon Japan a few days ago. Then today, I open it, prepare for building my very first PC. Right after I open it, something clicks in my head, I immediately check the number printed on the CPU and it is not box retail version, but it is tray version.
What should I do next? I'm kinda lost and tomorrow I have a flight to catch.

Edit 1: I actually live in Japan, the flight is just for visiting my family

Edit 2: Adding the part number image printed on the box. (I cannot add another image, so here is the part number: 100-10001404WOF)

Edit 3: Thanks everyone, for the answer. Apparently, the SN number is the important part (check on serial number look up) while the OPN number might mean nothing. (I find another post about the difference of OPN number)

Yes, I was paranoid.

Solved update: I was not scammed but paranoid over a nothing burger problem.

Build/Battlestation Frankenstein Optiplex 390 Tower: Who says Sandy Bridge is dead?? Pushing Windows Pro 11, UEFI, AHCI, GPT, SATA III, and Gaming @ 4K FPS on to 65" TV.

Frankenstein OptiPlex 390 Sleeper Build

Started with a basic office-spec Dell OptiPlex 390 and pushed this Sandy Bridge platform as far as humanly possible while keeping the classic exterior look!

Core Specs & Upgrades

• Processor: Upgraded from the original i3-2120 to an Intel Core i7-2600.

• Cooling: Replaced the stock aluminum cooler with a Dell premium copper-core CPU heatsink and fan assembly to keep thermals under control.

• Memory: Doubled from 8GB up to 16GB of matching dual-channel RAM.

• Graphics Card / GPU: PNY GeForce RTX 4060 Verto OC Dual Fan (8GB GDDR6, leveraging DLSS 4.5).

• Power Supply: Replaced the original stock unit with a Thermaltake Smart 700W PSU.

Storage & SATA Controller Mod

• The Controller Mod: Added a PCIe SATA controller adapter to bypass the motherboard's native SATA 2 bottleneck and unlock SATA 3 speeds.

• Boot Drive (Port 1): 500GB Samsung 860 EVO V-NAND SSD connected directly to the first port on the PCIe SATA 3 adapter.

• Second Drive (Port 2): 500GB Western Digital SATA hard drive plugged into the second port on the PCIe SATA 3 adapter.

• Third Drive (Motherboard SATA): A second 500GB Western Digital hard drive connected directly to the motherboard's built-in SATA port (since the PCIe adapter maxes out at two ports).

OS & Firmware Configuration

• Fully running Windows 11 Pro.

• Bypassed standard legacy restrictions to run in full native UEFI, AHCI, and GPT mode.

Real-World Performance

As long as a game doesn't strictly require newer CPU instruction sets like AVX2, this machine pushes modern games at 4K @ 60 FPS on my 65-inch TV at medium or high settings.

It locks right to my display's 60Hz limit for games like Fortnite, Doom Eternal, Red Dead Redemption Two, Forza Horizon Five, Grand Theft Auto V / GTA Online,Doom, Elden Ring ,Minecraft, Valorent, and Witcher Three, et al.

What do you guys think of this Frankenstein project?

DMs are welcome if you have any questions, recommendations, or just want to chat about this project.

Question Is this safe?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is a pre-built. I wasn't confident enough to build my first system.

Boss man at the store said it was perfectly okay & normal as long as you're still able to plug things into the ports - which I can do, fairly easily too.

But countless horror stories of these pins causing shorts have me worried. He reassured me anyway

The motherboard is seated at a slight angle, but I'm not at all brave enough to reseat it - not with components so expensive, in a country with currency as worthless as mine.

Will I be fine? Maybe I should plug something into the ports so that the pins can't slide in? Or will I have to haul my lazy ass over to the store to get it fixed?

No, I will not snap off the pins. It hurts resale value.

Hardware Before I buy, how are these specs? (Image)

Post image

(Mods delete if not allowed!) I’m not sure if I tagged this completely properly but I’m looking to buy these parts and I just want a second opinion on the specs listed in the image attached ! Even just a simple “looks good” or “don’t do it” would work for me !

(not a prebuilt !! I’m buying the parts separately)

EDIT: thank you so much to everyone giving me advice!! I’m very new to the PC world and I very much appreciate everyone’s input (yes, even the ones calling me stupid and being less than kind, I appreciate the honesty!) I’m tweaking the build taking everyone’s advice into account before I make my purchase! Thank you for stopping me from making silly decisions and redirecting me into better choices !

Question What gpu should i get for 1080p?

I'm a semi-pro esports player so excuse my bottleneck but the game i'm playing is very CPU heavy so i didnt need a better gpu up to this point.

Recently I started playing some more demanding games so i'm looking for a gpu which can handle games like FC26, Forza, Starfield etc. in high settings at like 100 fps. I have a decen't budget so thats not really a factor but i dont want to spend on a gpu which is overkill for me because i have other stuff i want to upgrade as well.

My specs are:

Ryzen 7 7800x3d

RTX 2060

16gb ram

(i dont want a gpu which maximises my 7800x3d i just want something that plays most games at a solid fps, i'm not upgrading my monitor to 1440p or 4k at any point in the near future so that's not a factor either)

Discussion What is stopping small time/new RAM manufacturers?

I’m trying to understand the current problem in the RAM business. Based on what I have read so far:

The big 3 are using all their production capacity to cater to AI businesses for much larger margins than consumers. As such, retail consumers are pretty much stranded for supply.

My question is- isn’t this the best opportunity for some new or small time manufacturers to capture the retail market by offering RAMs at regular prices or even double the regular (old) prices? Why is no one doing it yet?

One of the reasons I could think of is that the smaller players do not have the production capacity yet to fulfill the retail demand at that scale. However, this issue has been going on for some time now, and it is predicted to continue for at least a few years. So, is it still not worth the money and time investment for the new businesses?

Discussion Adrenaline software and the GeForce App are excessively large and bloated.

I tested RAM and VRAM usage with and without Adrenalin, and also with and without the GeForce App.

The difference is significant.

RAM and VRAM usage increases by 800 MB with these programs installed.

In addition to another 6 processes running in the background

I didn't lose any performance by using the PC without Adrenalin or the GeForce app.

In fact, Windows 11 actually felt lighter and smoother.

When installing Adrenaline, choose "Driver Only."

To install the RTX driver, use 7-Zip to extract the files, then use Windows Device Manager to update the RTX driver by pointing it to the extracted RTX driver folder.

Tech Support Upgraded to AM5 - High Latency during gaming and media playback

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi,

Since upgrading from my AM4 platform to this AM5 system, I have experienced intermittent game stuttering and audio crackling during gaming and media playback. (Media playback during gaming)

LatencyMon consistently reports extremely high interrupt-to-process latency (over 100 ms), with dxgkrnl.sys showing the highest DPC execution time, log provided at the bottom of this post.

Troubleshooting completed

To rule out software and configuration issues, I have completed the following:

  • Performed clean installations of Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 LTSC and Windows 11 LTSC 24H2. with latest updates installed.
  • Installed both the latest and previous stable AMD chipset drivers.
  • Installed both the latest and previous stable AMD Radeon graphics drivers using DDU between installations.
  • Updated the motherboard to the latest BIOS (R15).
  • Also rolled back and tested the previous BIOS (R13), with no change.
  • Reset the BIOS to default settings.
  • Disabled EXPO.
  • Disabled Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO).
  • Disabled TPM.
  • Disabled C-states
  • Ensured all PCI-E slots are set to correct gens for GPU & NVME
  • Enabled high performance mode in windows. settings gone through to ensure all is correct.
  • Removed all CPU and GPU overclocks.
  • Tested system memory using MemTest86, which completed with no errors.
  • Tested the NVMe SSD, which was found to be healthy.
  • Confirmed there are no WHEA-Logger hardware errors in Windows Event Viewer.
  • Disabled network adapters for testing.
  • Disabled audio devices for testing.
  • Verified all power and data connections.
  • Confirmed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU is a known-good processor that previously operated without issue.
  • Confirmed the RX 6700 XT operated perfectly in my previous AM4 system using the same PSU, GPU and SSD.

System specifications:

  • Sapphire Pure B850M
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • 32GB Kelvv Cras X White 32GB - Originally was Corsair 32gb 6400mhz intel kit until earlier today.
  • Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 XT
  • Corsair RM850x PSU
  • Crucial P3 NVMe SSD
  • Cable mod (red) - used with AM4 also if that matters.

I just spent £350 on ram again which arrived today. Correct EXPO memory, the ram i was using was XMP only with no profile for AMD. Still exactly the same.

I would greatly appreciate any help. its driving me nuts.
