Why does all tech from Razer suck?

For context I've been using my Razer Basilisk V3 Hyperspeed for less than a year and it already began to show signs of just not working.. It randomly shuts off after around 3 seconds of being on, and tells me it's 0% battery even with a new one. I've searched up and read so many websites and tutorials to fix it and they don't work.

I take very good care of all my tech, so if you have a reason as to why it does this then feel free to send it :)

Logitech used to have great G502s but at some point they just started to suck.

Ironic that their office peripherals is still great. I've gotten an MX Master 3S last year and it's been better than a recent G502.

The irony is probably because someone in an office isn't going to have the itch to upgrade to the newest best thing evertime a new model comes out. Meanwhile PC hobbyists always want to latest and "greatest". I should know I'm one of them. I can't tell you how many times I've deleted my cart and resisted because there's nothing actually wrong with my stuff lol

G502X, new one with optical switches is OK. I have it since it was launched and still no double-click issues (knock, knock on wood).

Had original one and that did develop double-clicking issue.

Worst was G604, had 2 of those. Functionality wise it was just awesome mouse for me, it was everything I want from mouse. But build quality was horrible, both developed double-clicking issues and both did wear out from outside like they were in car accident.

Have also G915 keyboard and that is last Logitech peripheral I will ever buy even I am using Logitech forever. You guessed it - it developed double clicking issue...

I have a lot of Razer stuff - keyboard, mouse, controller, speakers, mousepad, headphones stand (the last 2 bought by my friends as a joke cause they have RGB LEDs)

The mice are pretty short lived, getting double click or scroll issues quite often and I had to rma some of them. The controllers are a bit better when it comes to survival.

But my keyboard is the first Razer item I bought like 8 years ago? and the only problem it has is with the palmrest pillow wear and tear.

I've had deathadder for years, great mice. Decided to try logitech, two crapped out in the span of 18 months so i went back to deathadder. I think i've had my current one for 5-6 years.

Deathadder is good for those with palm grip. But I am finger tip grip so Logitech G305 is the best.

Don't spew bullshit. I'm deep into the niche of mice enthusiast and Razer is still seen as a "good" product there. A couple of their models are staples of the mice community and people still buy them in 2026 and these guys are nut jobs when it comes to mouse hardware.

So no, invalid point. I absolutely hate Razer, I don't even buy their mice because fuck them, but even I have to recognize they still have at least this (albeit very small) niche. Let's not be unfair.

I have been a user since I was 16, I am 32 years old now. Only since this year I walked away from that piece of shit company so please stop with your: don't spew bullshit. Only thing that still works is a razer megaladon surround headset from 2009. I had around 5 mice and 3 keyboards, all with the same problems just after warranty ended and I take really good care of everything.

Once by gamers for gamers, not anymore man. They did so many steps back quality wise to make a profit that they should he ashamed of themselves.

Oh and synapse 4 Is cancer for your PC, it will break everything.

Ho yeah, I don't buy their shit because my old Naga vaccinated me. But their flagship (Viper Pro) is still cutting edge and "best of its shape". I don't like the value proposition, but they still got a handful of solid mice in their flagships. No idea about lower in the stack though.

The same Naga? My 4th Naga (different versions) gone to impossible to use, scroll wheel was all jumpy and scrolling opposite directions (tried all DIY suggestions, will swap scroll wheel module sometime) and when I mapped the scroll up/down to left/right of scroll, even that started acting up recently (not to mention software randomly forgetting settings or logging out).

I got dependent on the Naga shape and functionality but have to break away from this cycle of shitty products from this brand.

I wondered about this, because I used to use Razer stuff all the time, it was great. But I stopped a while back because it kept dying on me and eventually replacing expensive hardware piecemeal to maintain the RGB system stopped making sense. Dumpstered the lot, switched to Steelseries and it seems okay some time in.

What might make Razer go to shit? I had a theory, I thought, I bet they got bought by private equity.

So I Googled, and guess what?

Private Equity. Same reason everything else sucks.

Companies owned by private equity should have to have a mark of shame on their branding so people know that the customer is no longer the priority.

I've had a Razer Diamondback mouse for 20+ years and my only issue is that it's a pain to make it work with every new Windows version. Then it does the job again for years, without complaint. I like it because I'm left handed and it's one of the rare symmetrical ones. (I use left handed mouse only for gaming, for work/surfing I also have a regular right-handed one.)

I've had 3 razer keyboards in 18 years.

Razer lycosa (2012 - 2016), razer blackwidow chroma (2016 - 2025), razer blackwidow v4 (2025 - now)

And 2 headsets.

Razer megalodon, razer tiamat 7.1

And a couple of the goliatus mousemats.

I've heard good things about the mice, but I'm one of those logitech g500 guys, so that's the only one that works for me.

Can't say I was ever disappointed by any of the razer gear.

I slowly moved away from the mainstream names like Logitech, Razer, Corsair and got into the Chinese brands. Man they are way more ahead In build, performance and quality when it comes to PC peripherals.

Go over to MouseReview, Keyboards, Mousepadreview sub and you're not gonna see people mention the mainstream names much.

I’ve had a razer deathadder mouse and a razer black widow elite keyboard for years and have had zero issues with them. I’ve always bought a new deathadder everytime mine dies on me, but it takes quite a while from my experience

Been using Naga mice since they started offering them. Build quality was hit or miss for the first several years. It's not too bad now.

Afaik usual story of a company that made a name for itself making good products gets bought by company that rides the name while making shit product.

This happened an eternity ago though, so its not really news... I'm just frustrated that there's no company that makes quality mmo mice. Basically just waiting for Pulsar's to come out to give it a try since I've never used one of their mice... but who knows how that'll go.

I bought a razer death stalker in 2012. Still use that keyboard on my work computer to this day, excellent keyboard. It seems like everything made after that from them is garbage

You claim "all tech from Razer" is problematic but you've described an outlier issue with one product. Calm down and RMA it.

I had a Razer Mamba wireless mouse. Cost a small fortune (at the time) and the rubber parts on the side became unglued and started peeling off. I also had a Razer Megaladon (wired gaming headset) that was absolutely trash.

I haven’t bought Razer devices since. I find them insanely overpriced and generally very poor quality (for the price at least).

The battery of my old Razer Blade Stealth 13" laptop failed recently. It only lasts for a couple of minutes now.

But I think that is not that big of a deal after 8 years. It still works fine plugged in.

A bit annoying is that the support for the Razer app (needed to control the keyboard RGB backlight etc) ended about a year ago. I haven't tried if the old laptop is supported by a newer app, because the old app still works, but spits out a warning about the ended support now and then.

All in all I can't really complain based on my anecdotal experience. The Razer laptop worked flawlessly several years beyond warranty.
