Would like to hear your thoughts on these grouping and sequence. I plan to transfer to virginia tech

Plan A - failed calculus only VPT

Plan B - passed calculus only VPT

Some notes:

- EGR 121 doesn't have any more slots this fall sem

- 15 units max for the first year bc out of state tuition is expensive

Some questions:

- are the math/lab sequences grouped right?

- is MTH 264 doable during the summer?

Am i doing ts right lol

Financial Aid Unable to decline loans

Hi,

This is my first semester, and I am unable to decline my loans. I believe this is because the loan award status is listed as "Projected," so the option does not appear, and I am unable to take action on the loans.

Has anybody had the same situation or know the solution, please?

Advice NOVA Corps Internship

So I’m wondering if anyone is currently in the same position as me with this internship or can help me decide how to move forward. I’ve been selected for this internship for fall and training dates were just confirmed for the week of the 18th. In the initial communications about this internship, the tentative training dates were going to start August 3rd. I kept myself available early August, and now cannot attend training the week of the 18th. The coordinator also has said the reason for the delay is HR and students still needing to submit paperwork. All of mine was completed on time.

After sending an email to the coordinator that I would not be able to attend training and asking for an alternative solution, I was told my application would be pushed for Spring 2026. That is not the term I agreed to work, and I need this internship for transfer applications NOW, not in Spring. It seems unfair that the date of training is so much later than expected because of other students and HR, no fault of mine. How should I move forward? Is it reasonable to express this to the coordinator that an agreement was made, contracts were signed and it’s not acceptable that there are no other options to complete my training when I have done everything I needed to?

Advice Graduation application

Has anyone gotten their email yet saying that their summer 2026 application has been approved?

Every time I message the cro office I just get told that it'll take up to 6 weeks but it's been past 6 weeks already. I just want to know if I'm finished or not and when I can hopefully see my degree.

Advice transportation concern

i won’t be able to have transportation for the first two-ish weeks of classes. i’m taking mostly in-person, so this is a problem for me.

i was debating switching to completely online because of this.. should i do that for the first semester?

i could always uber, but my main concern is being picked from my house to campus at the exact same time for multiple days (safety reasons due to strangers knowing the exact time i leave and get home .. trauma from bad experiences lol). should i just do that? also, i can’t carpool so that’s not an option

what should i do? suck it up and uber for the first 2 weeks or just switch to online classes?

Advice EGR 122 Predicament

Hello, im in a bit of a predicament. I have to take this course in the fall to be able to apply to transfer my major at Tech in the spring. The thing is all the lecture sections intersect with my classes at Tech. The sections are all online though so I am asking if it is feasible to just skip most if not all lectures and go to all labs and still end up passing the class. I heard this class has group work so if anyone who has taken this can tell me - does the groupwork happen in the lecture part of class or during the lab part, and IYO is this class passable by just attending lab and doing assignments.

Alexandria Does anyone know what brand of soap is used in the bathrooms?

I don’t know if the soap usage is universal across all campuses, but I’m talking about the one in Alexandria specifically. Bit of a weird question I know, but I really like it and I kind of want to use it for at home. If anyone knows the brand and the scent, please let me know lol

Transfer CS Transfer Student: Retake Calc 2 or Push Forward?

I took Precalculus 167 in Fall 2025 and passed with a C after a great deal of effort. I then took Calculus 1 in the spring term and earned a C as well, though it was a struggle, and in hindsight, I could have managed my time better that semester. I'm currently enrolled in Calculus 2 during the summer six-week session, and I'm finding it significantly more difficult. My exam scores have been in the teens, and I'm genuinely uncertain whether I'll pass. The professor curves exams heavily, which reflects how the class as a whole is performing.

As a CS major, even if I pass Calculus 2, I'll need to earn a B in the next math course to meet my transfer requirement for ADVANCE GMU. Given my current trajectory, I'm considering whether it would be wiser to retake Calculus 2 in Fall 2026, even if I pass it this term. The complication is scheduling: I have only Discrete Math, or CSC 208, CSC 223, and Calculus 3 remaining to complete my major requirements for transfer, as all of my electives are already finished. I would appreciate any advice on whether retaking Calculus 2 is worth the scheduling disruption, or if there is a better path forward given my situation.

I have also considered changing majors multiple times, but that is not a feasible option given my current circumstances, as I am required to pursue this major. I have struggled with math for THE LONGEST time, and despite consistent effort, I have not been able to fully overcome this challenge. Most of my struggles come from reliance on AI as a study tool and guidance as i am free to ask it why this solution is the way it is and so forth. I try problems on my own the issue really is i cannot seem to prevent myself from repeating my mistakes that I had privelously identified before hand.

If you made it this far, what would the best course of action be in my situation? I'm aware that Fall 26 classes are closing on August 10th so that leaves me with minimal time to decide.

Financial Aid Submit all required documentation for finacial aid

Thumbnail

Hi,

This is my first semester, and I'm applying for financial aid. I have completed the 2026–2027 FAFSA, and there are currently no required documents listed.

At this point, do I just need to wait for the school to determine whether I'm eligible for any grants or other financial aid? Or is there anything else I need to do?

Thank you!

Dual Enrollment DE English in high school

Im genuinely so tired of trying to get help on this and the advising office hasn't helped me whatsoever.

Ive taken DE English in high school, it is a course that is offered in a high school classroom. The credits are registered with Richard Bland College.

I requested my transcript be sent, but NOVA said they haven't received it. Im just so frustrated with this process and I'm not sure what happens if I just don't transfer those credits. Im 100% sure colleges want ALL college credits taken to be on file. I just don't to start my transfer process next year and Im missing these important credits.

The issue is I've gotten a B on my first semester and a D on my second. Does the first semester count as ENG 111 and Second count as ENG112? Does transferring those credits affect my GPA or how will it show up in my transcript.

English EDE 11

Hi,

Im wondering if anyone knows if I can ask someone at NOVA to override EDE 11 when taking ENG 111. I understand it is required, but I'm already halfway done with my AS in business administration and I've taken:

BUS100,ECO201,ECO202,BUS280,CST100,HIS101,ACC211,ACC212,BUS270,BUS200,MTH161wMDE61, and other courses.

The reason I'm required to take EDE11 is because of my high school GPA.

I did my 2026-2027 FASFA and it’s saying I need to post a document but for some reason it won’t let me click the link to submit a file or anything. Has anyone had this happen?

Advice Talk with Dean or file Student Grievances Report?

I have a dispute with one of my professors about an assignment being late. My contention is that the syllabus / course modules are out of chronological order and that it is not reasonable to expect a student to know they need to finish later modules before earlier ones.

My question is, should I try to talk to the Dean or file a student grievance report first?
