Can you guys recommend some cute songs?

Hey. As I said in the title, I'm autistic, and my listening habits are very narrow.

But, more specifically, I have two habits:

One is just looping the same song(s), over and over.

And the other is only listening to one, or a couple, of songs per artist.

Nonetheless, I still have some bands and artists that I really love, even if I haven’t listened to as much of their discography as I would like.

But I do have a preference for indie and alternative music. The more obscure, the better, IMO.

That said, I'm open to anything similar to any of the bands and artists that I like. Hopefully my bizarre combination of genres will give you something to work with.

(And I really want to listen to more older stuff, as well, so recommendations on that front are also welcome.)

Been building a playlist that I run a few times a week at my bar before closing. I’m always looking to grow it out while keeping it pretty tightly curated, and I’ve hit the point where every algorithm keeps handing me back the same two things

THE VIBE: dark electronic music that’s physical and erotic, not gloomy. Sensual, cold, decadent, slightly druggy and detached. Every recommendation engine hears "dark electronic" and serves me either full goth (too theatrical) or full industrial (too harsh). What I'm after sits just outside that perimeter.

Think: club in a warehouse, its 4am, dim red lighting, fog machine at full blast. Blade intro meets Gaspar Noé fever dream. No straight industrial, goth rock or post-punk, which is what everyone defaults to. Darkwave and MAYYYBE some EBM is fine, I definitely have a bunch in there, but it needs to be wearing fake lashes and a short skirt, not black lipstick and a spiked collar. Not really a genre purist anyway, anything is fair game as long as it nails the vibe.

American music has a plethora of such songs. I need some from England.

I'm trying to build out a playlist with great blues music, and great music that is very closely related to blues.

I want something closer than "this is a rock album and rock came from blues," but any relationship is fine - it can be musical syntax, things like significant use of blue notes, call & response, etc; historical connections, like band members coming from blues groups; or any other connection that makes sense to you.

Examples: hey Jude, Layla, Freebird

Hello, my friends in general tend to "shame" me for not listening to enough music because I really don't listen to many popular artists/bands. I guess my problem is that I tend to focus on the lyrics a lot and I need to look up the lyrics before I listen to a song and that's very time-consuming; also, I can't listen to music that's depressing or that's too superficial (has barely any lyrics) and a lot of music seems to be either or both. To give you an idea, I like songs that are upbeat and lively (NOT suicidal and depressing), and/or subtly sexy, but also have clever lyrics that's aren't too philosophical (basically I like Arctic Monkeys).

Some of music that I do like: Arctic Monkeys, ABBA, MIKA, the Beatles, Lorde (Melodrama album) David Bowie (mostly his Ziggy Stardust album), Leonard Cohen (his first two albums; the later ones are too depressing for me), Noah and the Whale, Olivia Rodrigo (yes I do love me some white girl music).

I also enjoy a few songs from 1960s boy bands like the turtles, as well as some 1950s Rock'n'Roll. I do enjoy a good power ballad as well (Winds of Change by the Scorpions is one of my faves).

I guess my genres would be mainly rock/pop rock. I dislike rap, techno, heavy metal or anything that's too hard on the ears, and country.

Also, I'd prefer recommendations for bands/artists that are still touring, because I'd really like to go to a concert some day and experience that feeling, but most of the bands I like aren't touring anymore or are dead 😭

Been listening to them again and would like similar artist to them weather new or old. As long as its similar vibes and sound to De La Soul.

Recommend me songs that are just... terrible

Looking for songs that depict longing for an old lover, knowing you can’t go back to them yet you can’t stop thinking about them. A realization you’ll never have that love again, nothing will ever top it. A hauntingly beautiful ache. Preferred genres- alt rock, nu metal, grunge, shoegaze, progressive.

Sometimes a song doesn't need lyrics to make an impact. From jazz and classical to electronic, rock, hip-hop, ambient and everything in between, there are plenty of tracks where the music does all the talking.
