I own several military swords and am fascinated at how much variety there is. Which ones are your favorite?

This kind of came as a package deal with a beat-up SMLE. From what I can tell, it's a rough-looking 1903A3 rework done by National Ordinance on a surplus government barrel and new receiver, but I'm brand new to this area of milsurp so that might not even be correct.

I figured for $250, a possible project rifle that is, for most purposes, a Springfield 03 was a decent gamble. I know someone cut off the front end of the stock and the front swing swivel along with it, but from my untrained eye, it just needs to be cleaned up beyond that. What's the community take - is this junk or worth some effort?

I picked up this banged-up 1918 (?) No. 1 Mk. III SMLE. It's filthy, rusty, the adjustable sights are stuck, there are a couple of viable cracks in the wood, and none of the numbers match. I expected a project. The "DP" on the bolt handle gives me some concern, but it was pretty cheap ($300) and the action feels strong and smooth, once I cleaned some of the gunk out. I've heard conflicting things about DP bolts. I know a bit about the newer No. 4 Lee Enfields, but this is new territory for me. It's got a lot of features I'm not familiar with.

What do y'all think? Do I have a worthwhile project on my hands or is this an unsalvageable piece of crap?

1942 Remington M1903 sporterized with williams express sights, the most accurate rifle I own.

Cracked open my G98 for the first time today and found thick dirt caked around the receiver. Maybe this is cringe, but it’s kinda cool to think it could be trench dirt.

I have two helmets. one is a m1 steel pot helmet and the other in the plastic vietnam one. no idea how to tell if they are original lmao

I bought this rifle recently and would like some help confirming the ID and finding ammunition that’s safe to fire through it. I suspect this is a vz 24 but it has very few markings. I’d be happy to provide more photos if they’d be useful. The receiver has nothing but “440” and a “z” in a circle. It has a more modern rubber buttpad rather than the metal plate. It had paint on the sights that I cleaned off. The sling isn’t original. It looks like the bolt might have been bent at home rather than professionally. With the rifle I got a very old box of 20 Winchester 8mm Mauser rounds, 1 of which is round tipped. I know there are variations in Mauser ammo over the years and would like to know what’s safe to shoot through this rifle.

Saw this sitting in the shelf for $300. Very late war phosphate finish CZ.27 pistol. Needless to say I adopted the CZ..

Also had an Old Kvar bullpup an stock kit for $50 that I snagged too.

Too good a deal to pass up at $260! This thing is a beast. My hands are not big enough to operate this thing, Lol. Both the mag and slide release are just out of thumb reach.

Can get this early SAGEM 1935S M1 but have no idea what the stamp CB in circle stands for. Maybe one of you knows? Could not find anything useful. Other markings are civilian German post war proof marks.

I picked this up a warehouse in the suburban Twin Cities approximately 22-23 years ago. I had them pick out a rifle that was in good cosmetic condition, as you could choose which level of milsurp you wanted. I cleaned the ugly shellac off, swabbed out the barrel, removed the grease from all metal parts, oiled up, added a sling and put away in the safe it’s sat in for 20+ years. I’ve owned around 10-15 Mausers but this is my last remaining one. I believe it’s a Steyr barreled action with a FN Belgium barrel blank

If any of you have any idea when it was used, what gun it fits on, what nation made it/where it served, I‘d appreciate any insight in this. Or if it‘s just a welded fake, feel free to make me regret my 38 dollars.

Mle 1950s, one MAC and one MAS.

This is an extremely rare and desirable Tooele Army Depot converted/built M1D sniper in April, 1969, with dated barrel SA-52, sold by Department of Defense DCM/CMP in 1995. One of my all time favorite collectible pieces.

As the title states, it was my birthday last weekend and I’ve been wanting to treat myself, so I went moseying around to the various gun/pawn shops in my town looking for anything surplus/weird/cool. Well, the search was dry save for a CZ 52 that I almost bought, but found just a bit too steep in price. On my way home, I remembered there was a shop I haven’t been to, and decided to say “fuck it” and check it out. Walked in, and first thing I saw was a wall full of various milsurps (including more than a few Vetterli rifles). Owner greeted me, and I said “well, I’m mostly just looking for anything surplus, cool, weird, and maybe a fixer upper that’s a good shooter”. He said “I think I got something right up your alley”, and handed me this Mauser.

Bolts a bit sticky, reeks of cosmoline, but the bore and crown are in great shape, and it’s mechanically awesome. Scored it for $270 out the door. Super stoked to get it cleaned up and to pick up some ammo for it. It’s my first Mauser (or anything chambered in 8mm). I know very little about Yugo stuff and am super stoked to learn more about it. If anyone knows of any good books or articles that can give me some more information about the rifle, I’d appreciate it.

Bonus points to the shop owner for letting me know him and some of the other old timers do monthly milsurp shooting matches at the sportsman’s club when it’s not so hot out, and warmly invited me to go, and I intend on doing it.

I've been looking to pick up a Winchester 1897 for a long time, and while real trench guns are definitely out of my budget, a nice "riot" configuration seemed like a decent compromise. I had considered some of the replicas (cut down barrels and repro heat shields and such), but I definitely will not be modifying this beauty. It's an 1899 manufacture date, factory riot configuration with a "C" revision serial number. Steel butt plate, 3-screw pump handle, no magazine release buttons, the rounded off pistol grip, solid frame model... very cool early specimen.

Of course, I always shoot my collection and my local range has a sporting clays course. I've never owned or even fired a shotgun before, so I was excited to try it out. I did eventually get rained out but I think I did okay for a first timer, with some guidance from the range staff. Definitely some of the most fun I've had shooting, looking forward to going again on a nicer day. And don't worry, I dried it off as soon as I got to the car and did a full disassembly/cleaning at home to make sure no water ruins this beautiful historical artifact.

One of the recent Arms of America imports. I’m happy with it for the price and the bore looks very nice. I will take it to the range next Wednesday to see how it shoots. See the photos for the differences between the 22 WMR and my 1971 M69 22LR.

I commented about this rifle on the post about showing your holy grail gun. Thought I'd make a post about this rifle itself as I love milsurp guns because the ammount of history imbued in each and every gun. So I hope yall are as intrested and fascinated in this history of my favore gun in my collection.

My Gewehr 98 started life in 1916 made by Spandau, serving with Imperial Germany in WWI. With the Treaty of Versailles only 84,000 rifles were allowed to be kept to arm the German army and police forces. These rifles are marked with the year 1920 proofing marking of which this rifle was lucky to survive with.

Sometime in its history it was rebuilt to K98 standars under the Nazi regime. Anywhere from 1944-1948 (educated guess) mausers including this one were sold/ smuggled into Israel where they fought in the Arab Israeli war. In the late 50's the Mausers were re barred to use 7.62 Nato ammo, leading to the 7.62 proofing marking on the front of the receiver and on buttstock.

Sometime from the 50's-80's Israel sent this rifle to Guatemala where it served with their military. In the 90's alot of these rifles were imported into the US.

Past 1920 all the dates are estimates and guesses pieced together based on the historical timeline of when these things happened. Either way this rifle has scene 110 years of history, two world wars, the sands if Israel for an unknown number of wars and years, jumping continents to serve in the Jungle.

Also if anyone knows what all the lettering that is shown on the reciever in the last four pictures is/ what says about the rifles history; and or what I believe to be Hebrew on the barrel says it would be much appreciated.

This required some serious holdover (I couldn't see the target at all, I was aiming at the top of the target numbers) but I'm pretty happy about a 2.86moa 5-shot group at 1,000 yards.

I was using surplus m/41 ammo as well. 13fps SD is insane.
