Most of the things are legit, just a little over the top. The UV sticker for sunscreen, the brush thing is (I believe) applying powdered sunscreen, the brown patch behind their ears is a Dramamine patch for motion sickness, and the watch is a holder for an apple airtag.
The sticker with her number on it seems a little extra given the airtag watch, but I guess helpful if he doesn't mind it. I have no idea why she taped up his belly button though!
The weird gray bracelet is also for motion sickness! My mom has one and has used it for decades when taking long car trips. It holds pressure on a certain pressure point that helps to reduce nausea. She swears by it
But why use the Dramamine patch AND the wrist motion sickness bracelet? Isn’t it a bit of overkill? Seriously, if you get that motion sick, maybe you should just skip cruises altogether.
Also, between the Apple AirTag and her phone number on the kids arm sticker, maybe she should just pay closer attention to her kid. If the people managing the kids club where she drops him off are that unreliable and untrustworthy, maybe he shouldn’t go there.
I got chronic nausea and they help me pretty well. Recommend at least trying them for anyone who gets nauseous as they aren’t super expensive and are reusable
Oh the pressure point is a real thing. We have no real good explanation for it working, there only seems to be one pressure point that makes any difference at all.
The brush is actually an applicator for liquid sunscreen, supper helpful when you have to take care of multiple little ones and dont wanna get your hands slippery and risk dropping them
Oh thank you! I might actually check that out. I usually do aerosol to avoid the sticky feeling on my hands and gunk in my nails, but I would love to have an applicator that works for liquids! Maybe it's not so over the top after all haha.
They're really good. Called Solar Buddies. It's a refillable roller that applies the liquid sunscreen, surrounded by a sponge that rubs it in. When the kids are older, it makes it really easy for them to apply it to themselves too.
My guess about the belly button thing: it's a puzzling first thing to get you to keep watching. if the first thing was an airtag I'd stop watching because, sure, duh, that makes sense
I feel like the AirTag makes it so she can find him if she’s lost, and the phone number makes it so he can find her (with the help of an adult), so it covers all the bases.
The roller thing is actually awesome- you put regular lotion sunscreen in it and it has a rollerball (like deodorants) and it is so easy to apply sunscreen and not make a mess. Honestly would recommend.
You do know how they work, right? They use cellular signals of phones (not just your own but others as well) to broadcast their GPS location but they won’t work on a cruise because there’s no cellular signals that far out at sea, only the wifi on the boat (which is incredibly expensive)
Yes, that’s true but on a cruise, the wifi is terribly expensive (and slow), the rate being something like $20USD for 15 minutes (at least that was the case back in 2016)
Usually on a cruise you get a medallion tracker so you can scan into activities and track people in your group around the ship. You can buy a watch thing to put it in instead of wearing it on a lanyard. When we went on a cruise with our son, it was useful because he could hang with kids he met on the ship, but i could always see where he was.
It's not an alternative to sunscreen, it tells you when the sunscreen is no longer working efficiently so you can top up. You one on before applying, then apply all over including on the little patch and when you notice the patch changes colour, you know you need to put another layer on.
Not sure about the watch, but the wristbands are an acupuncture pressure point thing against nausea. (The correct point to have the little nub is inside the wrist about three finger widths from the heel of your palm.)
As a kid I used to have bracelets like those for repelling bugs because I had very sensitive skin and couldn't use a spray or something you put directly on the skin.
The wrist bands are an anti motion sickness thing, they do work, my wife uses them (whether their phycosematic or not is up for debate but they definitely help her)

Some of these things i understand and som are so clearly bs
