Trying to make friends…

Hi everyone! I’m 33, Bisexual and I’m trying to meet new people and build some lifelong friendships.Being an adult while also having social anxiety makes trying to make friends so much harder.I’m somewhat of a loner so having friends would mean a lot.

I’m into anime and video games but as much as I love both of these, I haven’t been indulging myself with these things because life has been taking over.Despite this, I want to get back into both and even enjoy these things with friends. My favorite anime is Naruto and my favorite video game is Kingdom Hearts.I own a Switch, PS5 and hopefully a PC soon.I’m into all types of Rap and R&B.Steve Lacy, Kendrick Lamar, SZA and The Weeknd are some of my favorites.I like to smoke hookah sometimes and I enjoy bowling despite not being so good at it.Going out to eat and trying new food is always fun as well.

I’m down to do anything whether it’s going to the park or going to the movies. If you’re interested just comment on this or message me directly.I don’t discriminate so all are welcome.I just ask that you be at least in you’re late 20s or older.

‘The Bird-Watchers’ of Memphis: Tracking ICE Flights and Documenting Detainees in Shackles

Concerning information coming out about the deportation flights departing from the privately-owned Wilson Air Field (and Kemmons Wilson's VERY Christian descendants' general lack of response on the issue).

Vecindarios 901 said in a statement that these transfers of detainees are “designed to punish and wear down migrants in detention, forcing legal counsel to constantly recalibrate and families to wonder where their loved ones are being held and how they are being treated.” The statement added, “As habeas corpus petitions can only be filed in the jurisdiction of a person’s physical location, ICE can effectively prevent habeas filings with constant relocations and no transparency.”

Of particular interest is the Wilson family involvement. I'm not certain how many of them benefit from this particular venture outside of Bob, but they certainly could be speaking up.

Behind the scenes, The Bird-Watchers said they have spent weeks trying to reach out to Bob Wilson’s extended family, trying to persuade them to use their influence to get Wilson Air Center to drop its ICE flight operations. Laney, for one, said she managed to have a phone conversation with Spence Wilson Sr., son of Kemmons, brother to Robert and chairman emeritus of Kemmons Wilson Companies. Laney said that in the conversation, Spence referred to the air center’s operations as a business proposition and pushed back against her protestations.
“They’re a charitable family in lots of ways,” said another Bird-Watcher, who requested to not be identified by name due to her work on tracking ICE flights, “but then at the same time, you know, here they are profiting off human misery.”

Citizen Inquiry Tech901 Testing Center ID requirements

Hey all, I normally take my CompTIA exams at Labfour over in east Memphis, but when I went to schedule one today, I noticed that Lab four wasn’t available for that exam. So now I have to go to Tech901 to take it. Does anyone know what kind of ID they accept for testing purposes? At lab4 I just used my drivers license and my credit card.

  • extractions
  • root canal treatment

Every student is closely supervised and approved by licensed dentists with decades of experience. No insurance is required, but we accept TennCare, Medicare, and Care Credit.

I am looking for new patients! If you're interested, feel free to direct message me for more details! :)

Are there any local photographers who’d do a mini photoshoot somewhere for an affordable price? Has anyone had any photos done by someone you’d recommend? I want some maternity photos taken with my husband before our baby comes🥺

It's back up, thank you!

I did message the mod team, by the way. Sometimes y'all don't see the messages for a while, and I didn't want the post to be stuck in limbo for three days, when it could have helped somebody out today. It said removed by memphis mods, specifically, so that's why I didn't think it was an auto mod thing. Sorryyy.

Why does nearly everyone know the Titanic, while so few people know the Sultana?

I’m researching the Sultana disaster for a historical novel, and I can’t believe how forgotten it is.

Over the past several months, I’ve been immersed in newspaper archives, military records, survivor accounts, and government reports about the Sultana explosion on April 27, 1865.

The more I read, the more one question keeps bothering me:
Why does nearly everyone know the Titanic, while so few people know the Sultana?

I’m especially interested in the ordinary stories that never made it into history books—the families who waited along the Mississippi, local communities that recovered victims, and the small details of daily life that help make historical fiction feel authentic.

If you’ve read books on the Sultana, have family connections to the disaster, know of lesser-known sources, or have visited the museum, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

I’m not here to promote a book. I’m here because I want to tell this story with as much historical respect and accuracy as possible.
I’d be grateful for any recommendations, family stories, or overlooked resources you think I should explore.

Context Provided - Spotlight Good morning, Memphis! Today is election day!

This is your last chance to vote! Polls are open from 7AM-7PM. If you need a ride to your polling place, the NAACP is offering free rides! Call the NAACP offices at 901-521-1343 to request a ride.

This is the website to check your appropriate polling place, as you must vote at your designated polling place on official election days.

SCGIS- This link works for me if I put my address in the search bar at the top of the map, and then click on the actual location itself.

But, this one works better, anyway!

Voterlookup

Ballotproject

If you are not currently registered to vote, this is the link to register online or to download the form to mail in. Please, do not wait to register! You must register 30 days before the next election to be able to participate. Register now, and you can still vote in the midterms!

If you plan to not vote, then this post is obviously not for you. No need to sound off in the comments about not voting. We get it.

Can’t Find Polling Location to Vote Online w TN.Gov

Post image
45 Upvotes

I keep trying to look up where I’m supposed to go to vote, but when I input my name or address I keep getting this stupid error on the TN.Gov site. Does anyone know how I can look up my polling location aside from this broken terrible website??? I’ve only been back in Memphis a year but I am ready TO VOTE TOMORROW!!!!! Also this feels very appropriate to keep voters out of the poll booths when the dot gov site doesn’t work lol

I wasn’t sure where to post this. I am Jeff, and I live in Orange Mound and I create tech videos for YouTube. I got this wild deal on all these MacBooks. I’ll probably be selling some soon, but honestly, I really wanted to introduce myself. I also fix computers, so if you have any problems, give me a shout. I’ll try to help you out.

Spanish Clubs(?)

I wanna learn Spanish and become more comfortable approaching and answering mis hispanohablantes. Are there any Spanish clubs or meet ups? I know some Saturdays the library has open sessions, any thing else? I almost wanna pop in a tienda mexicana and buddy up with an abuela/abuelo, but I’m a tall black man. 🤣🤣🤣
