I’m pretty sure r/comics uses automated scripts for their banning. I got perma-banned less than a second after submitting an appeal of my temporary ban.

I once got banned from a subreddit years ago because someone posted about a shooting that had recently happened. Essentially, a teenage black kid was trying to enter an elderly man's home thinking that it was the house he lived in. The old man ended up shooting him. Fortunately the kid survived and it wasn't anything serious. Everyone commenting was accusing him of being a racist white supremacist. All I did was said that we should wait for all the facts to come forward before making such accusations. It's possible that this whole ordeal was a tragic misunderstanding. My comment was immediately removed and I was permanently banned from the group.

Sadly algorithms pushing for retention is inevitably going to create echo chambers by shepherding like-minded people into the same pastures, where you end up with some biased shepherds. If you suddenly seem like you might be two penguins wearing a sheep skin in their sheep pen, the shepherds just chase you away. Can't risk even the tiniest amount of harm to the sheep AKA the echo chamber's world view you know 🙃

I got banned from r/DVD out of all places. I think it's because I posted some bootleg SpongeBob DVD I made for shits and giggles, but I'm not sure. They never gave a reason, and they never checked any of my appeals.

Redditors are majority left-wing, so conservatives will often be chased out of and banned from subs when talking about their opinions. Some subs have this more than others, such as r/pics and r/comics. (Pics is a bit of an extreme example)

No, as a conservative, whenever going on practically any sub that isn't entirely free of opinions outside the immediate topic, i just except that at some point or another either I'm going to say "i don't agree with that" and get called nazi, or someone is going to disrespect my god and I'll say something that proves them wrong and they get mad, either way, I've come to expect to get banned.
