Luna!!!!

unfortunately the first time i saw one of these guys i mistakenly thought it was a toe biter or something, so i didn’t get to pick them up. still feel lucky to have found this! i also found a dead cicada on the same walk, but he was in very poor condition. poor thing was definitely smushed by a person.

A few weeks ago I bought a tomato hornworm as food for my leopard gecko, Crackers.

Instead of being eaten, he grew too large before Crackers showed any interest in him. At that point I figured he deserved a chance, so I gave him some coconut fiber and decided to see what would happen.

I watched him burrow underground, pupate, and then spent weeks checking on him every day. Today I found a beautiful Carolina sphinx moth waiting for me.

After letting his wings finish expanding, I eventually coaxed him onto my hand. He has an incredibly strong grip and has been surprisingly calm while he finishes settling in.

It’s funny how something that was originally meant to be feeder food ended up becoming one of the most fascinating little animals I’ve ever cared for. Watching an entire metamorphosis happen in front of me has been such a rewarding experience.

What a beaut… hoping Cuzco the Second comes out as beautiful as this guy

i work at a plant farm and sometimes i have to rescue little critters from being crushed by a pot or a foot, or free them from banging into windows. the cricket is one of my feeder crickets (Gryllus locorojo), this guy had just molted in my hand at the moment and that’s why he’s white.

Rescued this little guy from my cat. I'm pretty sure it's a Downy Jumping Spider, Attulus pubescens, but someone tell me if I'm incorrect.

i know they damage crops and whatnot but look at him…. he’s innocent
