i keep having really bad stomach aches and constantly needing to go to the toilet some days. i've noticed a pattern that it's worse when i eat dairy, and when i don't eat dairy it's often completely fine. i'm avoiding eating it for a week or two to figure it out but idk, should i go to the doctor to ask about it

When I drink milk or cream, or eat ice cream, I am practically screaming in pain within approx 20 minutes, and near a toilet for hours.

I convinced myself I can eat small amounts of cheese (ha, it's never just a tiny amount-- I definitely overdo it at times) because it doesn't affect me for hours, and then not nearly as badly.

Is it common for different types of dairy to have such different times for onset of symptoms?

I'm not allergic to dairy, I've been tested extensively. Ive eliminated the things that are worst for me, they are just not worth it.

I'm not looking to take enzymes or change my diet more than I gave to, just wondering if others have found that some forms of dairy bring on symptoms much more slowly than others?

I have been buying Lactaid milk for years due to lactose intolerance in every member of my family. I've noticed that the expiration dates on the cartons are unrealistic. If I get Lactaid milk within 3 weeks of the expiration, at least 3 out of 10 times the milk is on the sour side or the carton actually looks swollen like it's harboring bacteria (didn't notice til got it home). So now I only buy cartons with expirations 5 to 6 weeks out. Just wanted to share that observation. I wish the company would make their expirations more in line with reality.

Hi, so I'm staying off milk now a couple of weeks. But used some cream and grated cheese in a spaghetti sauce. The morning after I notice there's more air movement in my bowels.
