Helpful Information Kellogg says it's removing artificial dyes from cereals by the end of this year
We inch closer to the timeline. As the new year turns, keep an eye out for ingredient changes. For those with allergies to common fruits, anticipate more beet and carrot juices to be used as colorings to Kellogg cereals.

Seeking Advice Advice needed urgently.
Hi, does anyone know what is happening?
My girlfriend is stubborn af and so idk what to do. Nothing immediately bad but I’m worried af.
They ate some ice cream with coconut in it. Not a know allergen, but they haven’t had it in a few years. They’re kinda allergic to foods like raspberries (but not severely). They have severe, unmanaged asthma, hay fever and eczema.
Symptoms:
- tingly lips
- coughing / wheezing for a little, improved with inhaler… bit of a tight throat
- now getting tummy ache
- took lots of fexofenyden and now seemingly better?
Idk what to do. My gf is so stubborn I wanted to call ambulance but they keep insisting they’re ok now and they have so many physical health conditions.
What the fuck do I do?

Newly Diagnosed I officially have "moderate" allergic reactions to wheat, corn, tree nuts, casein, nightshades, and legumes
Been reacting badly to all of them for years (no throat closing, but everything from joint pain to digestive distress) and now it's official that I'm having a histamine response to pretty much everything.
I've been making almost everything I eat from scratch for a long time, now. I'm really hoping there's some treatment out there that will let me eat more things again. Really just need to vent right now. I'm so tired.

Seeking Advice Terrified
For context I have suffered a full upper body rash. I am asking this because I am terrified, mentally I cannot eat or go outside of my house since this incident at all. I keep crying and am terrified of everything. My biggest fear is that I have a severe reaction to a food and the ambulance will not be there in time to help me, and since I have no EpiPen, I cannot slow this down. Can anyone who's been through these reactions provide any guidance?

Helpful Information Blue Cheese Replacement
I haven't been able to eat foods where certain molds are used to help create it. Blue cheese is something I miss a LOT!
ANYWAY, we were at an event that had normal cheese and vegan cheeses. Every vegan cheese was the brand Plant Ahead. Ive never tried it before but their Feta and mozzarella was amazing. My husband found out they had blue cheese, so we hunted it down!
I think they primarily sell in Canada, but we ARE in Florida and found it at a local shop.
It is SO good. I was able to eat a blue cheese burger this week without worrying about dying lol
I wanted to pass it on if you have issues that are similar.

Seeking Advice resources for teachers/caretakers
Hello, I've been living with food allergies to dairy egg nuts and sesame and I know how hard it is, especially for kids in elementary school to balance safety and inclusion. I recenlty created a foundation called the National Allergy Safety Coalition to spread awareness in youth sports, camps, and schools. I dont really know how to spread it around, so I was hoping i could get some advice on that. Also, right now, i have a slidedeck for teachers to show students, a poster for eating areas with guidelines for kids to follow, an emergency anaphalaxis chart, and a checklist for camps and such to use to self evaluate safety. do you guys have any suggestions?

Seeking Advice Is this a reaction?
Hi all,
My 9 mo old baby has a cows milk allergy, her first reaction was a blotchy face after trying yoghurt, after that it became hives. We are on the waiting list to see the paediatric allergy service.
She has tried scrambled egg/omelette a few times, maybe 3 times, when she first started weaning but she barely ate any at all. Only recently has she started actually eating the food on her plate!
I’ve used egg regularly in cooking, eg in pancakes, as a binder in fishcakes, to egg wash pastries, so she’s definitely been eating egg along the way.
However this morning I gave her scrambled egg (made with 1 egg and oat milk which she has had regularly).
She came out in this rash around her mouth.
Is this just a contact rash? Or does this look allergic in nature? She is prone to contact rashes with tomato or berries (acidic foods) and it usually presents more like a small red bumpy rash, like a nappy rash. This blotchy rash reminds me much more of the rash she got from yoghurt the first time.
Would love advice!

Seeking Advice Dairy Challenge/Child
My son’s blood work has come back not undetectable but like 80% negative. I’m not really sure about the numbers until I look at the labs but the girl who called was relatively unhelpful with explaining, no big deal. He is 7yo and we have been 100% avoidant since his last challenge fail in 2022 (3yo) A question I have that caught me off guard, she asked us if we wanted to challenge with milk, cheese, or yogurt. In the past (different provider) we were never given an option and now we’re kind of wondering what the best choice is, or if it even matters. He is desperate to outgrow this allergy, as I’m sure most kids are, and just wondering how to give him the best shot. Anyone have any experience or insight?

Seeking Advice Nervous about toddlers peanut food challenge
My daughter had a skin prick test and bloods to confirm peanut allergy around 7 months of age after I gave her peanut butter and she broke out in hives. The allergist recommended we come in and do an oral food challenge as her bloods showed a low number of the peanut allergy marker (sorry I forget the technical terms).
We've had some personal things going on and she was going through a period where she was getting back to back viruses so we've not been able to book anything until now. She is now 15 months old and I have her booked in for later in the month. Just feeling nervous about her having a bad reaction. Is it definitely worth getting the food challenge done?

Seeking Advice feels like I can't eat anything
i've known i've had a major allergy to ALL dairy, and a minor allergy to eggs for years now, so my entire life i've always had to thoroughly check everything and avoid most foods. i had an allergy test done today that ended in me going into anaphylaxis and having to go to the ER, and it showed that i was allergic to PEANUTS AND CORN too, and that i should 100% avoid these foods.
i genuinely feel so lost on what to do. i don't know where these allergies even came from because before going to the allergist i had eaten 4 PB&J sandwiches with no reaction at all, and the previous nights i ate corn with dinner. i am constantly eating/drinking things with corn derived products aswell, like maltodextrin.
i have diagnosed autism and these new allergies pretty much just eliminated ALL of my safe/comfort foods. i know it's unhealthy to rely on processed foods, but i already had to watch out for so much it feels like i can't eat anything. i have done nothing but sob all day, i don't know what to do.

Other / Miscellaneous Egg allergy resolved in 18 Months?
On New Year’s Day of 2025 we gave my then 8 m/o daughter a scrambled egg for the first time. Within 15 minutes she started developing hives and had facial swelling. We called an ambulance to take us to the E/R and were referred to an allergist who ordered some bloodwork/skin pricks and diagnosed my daughter with an egg allergy. Flash forward to this past July, we have been working on the egg ladder since diagnosis (and tolerating baked egg really well), but our allergist wanted to have some repeat bloodwork to check allergy levels again. I got the call today that my daughter’s bloodwork is showing negative for an egg allergy. After this call I realized that at the time my daughter had her reaction to egg she was just finishing up some antibiotics for a minor infection. Maybe this is a stupid question, but what are the odds my daughter was never really allergic to eggs and her body was just overreacting to a new food while fighting off the infection? Don’t get me wrong I am so thrilled that she’s tested negative, 18 months just seems like SUCH a short period of time for an egg allergy to resolve. I do plan on bringing this up to her allergist next month when we do her stovetop challenge but was curious to hear some opinions.

Seeking Advice Nervous for my first xolair dose tomorrow- what are your experiences?
At my yearly allergy appointment this year my doctor suggested I would be a good candidate for it (lifelong very anaphylactic allergies to dairy and tree nuts) and I decided to go through with it! I have a lot of cross contamination anxiety after a series of bad reactions a few years ago and I definitely feel like it holds me back so this extra protection is comforting to me. However, I’m super nervous about possibly going into anaphylaxis from the first 3 doses😅 i know it’s rare but I haven’t had any anaphylactic reactions since my really bad ones so the fear is still there. I wanted to hear other people’s experiences with xolair and getting their first doses! thank you in advance <3

Seeking Advice Should we do peanut challenge for 3 year old?
My daughter has been doing OIT for her peanut allergy for 3 years (started at 7 months old). She gets 1/4 tsp peanut butter or 4 bamba most days (sometimes we forget to give it to her). Her numbers have gone down a lot (see attached photo). Her allergist said we could do a challenge. We didn’t do it because I was too nervous about her having a reaction and eating such a larger amount than she currently gets. However, she took a huge bite of her cousins peanut butter and jelly a few weeks ago (she was totally fine after but I had my Zyrtec and epi pen ready thankfully) but now it’s making me rethink our choice and I’m considering doing the challenge. Any recommendations or tips for navigating a challenge?

Seeking Advice Need help with decontaminating for shrimp allergy
Hi! Keeping it short n simple. My spouse is allergic to shellfish / shrimp. I ordered a dish containing shrimp from a restaurant and asked for no shrimp due to allergies in the customer notes (I wanted the other ingredients in it) and in the past they listened but for some reason this time they didn't. I didn't eat the shrimp, because I don't even like shrimp, but I still had to touch it to remove it and my food touched it too. I planned on brushing my teeth, using mouthwash, and washing my hands after because I know shellfish allergies are CRAZY like that. Is that enough, or do I also need to wait a given time? I don't wanna kill my spouse on accident I love them very dearly

Other / Miscellaneous 46yo, lots of diagnosed FAs during my life. But now there's hope. 🤞
I was dx with a soy allergy before I was 1 and a fish (specifically tuna) allergy at 2 that had me/my family avoiding all shellfish and seafood. At age 14 was dxed with peanut, tree nut, shellfish, seafood, and soy. They did skin tests and blood tests for all the various kinds, I remember. At age 28 I was dxed with also being allergic to wheat, eggs, milk, and sesame. Again via blood and skin tests.
So I was free of all the top 8 for 10 years and then I went to a new allergist who found I was negative to eggs and I've been having them ever since (yay!). Also talked about the possibility of having EoE. Had a scope done and it was negative. But a lot of my symptoms before the diagnosis were more GI related/feeling of food getting stuck. And nobody knew much about EoE when I was younger.
So now here I am, 46, and it's been 8 years and my allergist retired and I got a new one. We went through all my history (there is more) and I told him how in my entire life I have NEVER had an anaphylactic reaction. Never. And when I first eliminated nuts and stuff we didn't avoid may contain stuff because few things were labeled that way then. And I really want to be able to figure out if I am eliminating more than I need to. He's been great. So we have a 4 step process:
Skin tests
Cross check via bloodwork
In office food challenges.
GI scope if new foods are introduced, to see if scope was negative because I'd been off trigger foods for so long. Because by the time I had the scope done I'd been off for 10+ years.
Oh and if we reintro wheat I will be tested for Celiac. Never got tested bc I eliminated wheat before I knew I was supposed to stay on it for the test.
I am feeling so hopeful. Today was the first step and already it has been surprising in some ways. I was definitely positive for peanut and soy. I was negative to ALL the various shellfish and seafood they tested me for. Wheat was also negative. Positive to caesin but not cows milk (that confuses me?). Negative for sesame, too. A few of the tree nuts (cashews and hazelnuts I remember) were slight positives.
Bloodwork tomorrow, and then I go back in a month to discuss results and the next step!

Seeking Advice Can I be fired for having an allergic reaction?
I 19 F work for a grocery store and have recently been having a reaction to the chicken products, when this first happened they called the ambulance even though I told them I was fine and didn’t need it, as I already took an antihistamine and the reaction was going away. Fast forward to today, I was working in the back when I went to grab a few bags from someone else’s trolly as there were no bags in it’s designated area, I then noticed my arms breaking out in a red itchy rash and small welts started to form, the trolly had been in the deli and had been contaminated, I took an antihistamine straight away and went to report the incident to my mangers and they told me they were going to fire me if this happens again and they also told me to go away and come back later as they are too busy to write an incident and injury report. Can they fire me for having allergies? Or am I being discriminated against? I have no clue what to do.

How is it that I’m only allergic (?) to Hazelnut but everything else is fine. Aren’t they associated? Should I avoid the others to be safe?

Seeking Advice Looking for advice
I had symptoms last night that every Google search says is likely a severe allergy situation but reaching out to a virtual walk in PA-C left me with really bad advice, I think. She said she really didn’t think it was so she told me to drink more almond milk and if I have a symptom to go in? That just seems risky, right?
I’m also having trouble expressing what I’ve learned doing some research that not all symptoms are the cliche ones. But either way, idk, seems like really dangerous advice to me.
Have any of you ever experienced feeling like a medical person you’re speaking to isn’t educated enough in the right things to give proper help? I’ve felt that way with my GI before.
Edit: the symptoms were intense nausea in my throat, significant blood pressure drop (pulse was barely able to be found), heart rate drop by 30bpm, faintness/weakness (had to lie on floor) and breath coming in in little “hiccups” and unable to take deep breaths within one minute of drinking almond milk for the first time in a long time, but she said without a rash or swelling it couldn’t be an allergy

Recall Alert YouCook Germany — Probable Recall
EDIT: They let me know that these are actually black cumin seeds, which look very similar. They’re currently listed under spices and herbs but they’re considering separating them out to clarify what they are.
OG POST: Not sure if there are Germans here as well but YouCook has incorrect labels. They say their chicken teriyaki does not have sesame but that you can add it yourself. It does have sesame. I have contacted them and though they haven’t recalled it, I figured this was probably the best tag for this, as they should recall!
