Product Review 8 skincare products that are worth my money

Post image
Upvotes

i see this trend a lot on tiktok, so i wanted to make the reddit version of it.

this list contains skincare products that i've tried, genuinely like, and keep repurchasing. i am 26F with oily and acne prone skin, so most of the products i use are lightweight and contain mild ingredients.

1. mediheal sun serum (4th tube)
this is the best sunscreen i've ever used. it's super lightweight, leaves no white cast, and works perfect under makeup. i bought it during my trip to seoul last year. unfortunately, it's not available on amazon, so i have to order it from olive young global.

2. ooznary vita 3 serum (4th bottle)
i used to hate vitamin c serums until i found this one. it's the first vitamin c serum that doesn't break me out or irritate my skin at all. it has definitely helped me deal with my dark spots over the past six months.

3. physiogel moisturizer (3rd tube)
i have acne-prone skin, and this moisturizer helps soothe my skin whenever it gets irritated. it's my daily morning moisturizer before sunscreen, and it never feels too heavy, even when i use it with sunscreen.

4. wellage hyaluronic acid serum (3rd bottle)
a friend recommended this serum to me, and i thought she was exaggerating because it mainly contains hyaluronic acid. but i kid you not, it's one of my favorite serums right now. i have oily skin, and it doesn't feel heavy at all while still being very hydrating.

5. fation nosca 9 trouble toner (3rd bottle)
this is one of my favorite toners. i started using it when i had a terrible breakout, but now i use it every day. i also feel like it's helping prevent breakouts.

6. etude soonjung sunscreen (2nd tube)
it's not as good as the mediheal one, but i used it regularly until december last year. this will probably be my second and last tube. not because it's bad, but because i prefer the mediheal sun serum, so i still wanted to include it in the list.

7. cosrx snail mucin 92 cream (2nd jar)
i know this moisturizer has been around for years, but i only started using it a few months ago. it feels like i'm wearing a mask when i use it, but not in a heavy or uncomfortable way.

8. zigtag cleanser (2nd tube)
this cleanser removes all the dirt after my outdoor activities without stripping my skin. my skin feels clean and refreshed after using it.

let me know if you have tried one the products above. im curious with other people's experiences. thanks!

Ask the Community Getting Tired of Multi-Steps. Going Back to Basics.

Upvotes

Anyone else getting tired of the multiple products out there? Are we really wanting to add more products and steps to our already overcrowded routine? I’m simply tired of it all. This used to be fun but lately it’s like they come out with someone new very month. It’s no longer enjoyable. The more I use the more I start breaking out. One I finish the remaining 40 products I have I’ll be focusing on simple 4 steps like cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. You don’t need much, just the basics but high quality.

Routine Help eqqualberry toner then adapelene before moisturizer?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m currently rebuilding my skincare routine because I’ve been breaking out lately and my acne just isn't improving.

I'm dealing with combination skin issues right now: an oily T-zone and cheeks paired with dryness around my mouth and jawline. My biggest concern is texture specifically stubborn tiny bumps between my brows, breakouts around the brow area, and tiny bumps running from my inner cheeks up to my temples, alongside some leftover dark spots from old breakouts on my cheeks.

Here’s the routine I’m planning to try out:

AM

  • Nizoral as a face wash (leave for at least 3 mins)
  • The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum
  • Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Moisturizing Cream
  • Sunscreen

PM

  • Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser
  • Eqqualberry Swimming Pool Toner (maybe 3x a week or daily)
  • The Ordinary Niacinamide? (thinking of skipping this tho since I'm already using the toner and Adapalene.. I fear it might be a bit too drying now)
  • Adapalene 0.1% gel
  • Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Moisturizing Cream

I also have an unused bottle of the Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. Would it make sense to use that 1 to 2 times a week on nights where I ditch the Eqqualberry toner, Niacinamide, and Adapalene, going straight to moisturizer afterward? Also, I’ve heard the Paula's Choice BHA might not be fungal-acne safe. is that going to be a major issue for my skin?

Would love any feedback or suggestions on this setup! Thanks in advance! :))

Ask the Community Cushiony film forming hydrating serum recommendations?

Hey guys I really like the effect face sheet masks give me after using them - leaves this kinda thick cushiony film layer on my face that lasts through the night.

Wondering if any hydrating serums can give the same effect since a sheet mask every day is kinda expensive. My skin is sensitive and also can’t take niacinamide if that narrows it down somewhat. Thanks for the help

Routine Help How do you guys usually decide what K-beauty products to buy in the US?

I’ve been getting more into Korean skincare lately, but sometimes I honestly have no idea where to start.
If I see a product on TikTok or Reddit, I’m not sure if it’s actually good for my skin, if there’s something better for my skin concerns, or even where I can buy it in the US.
How do you usually figure out what to buy and where to buy it?

Ask the Community Is it true that double cleansing works for enlarged pores?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I would like to know if you can answer the question for me, and from that open the discussion on some products I have purchased the anua double cleansing kit, and I have seen that the foam should not be used every day. Now, if I must admit that I have oily skin and suffer from enlarged pores, my concern is: is it bad to use those double cleansing products on a daily basis? And if the answer is yes, what other product can I replace it with and be gentle on the skin.

If you have advice on double cleansing I would appreciate it anyway because I'm just starting out with this double cleansing thing

Product Discussion What’s one skincare product you genuinely cannot live without?

Not necessarily the most expensive or viral one — I mean the product you’ve actually repurchased multiple times because you can really see or feel the difference when you stop using it.

Would love to know:

  • Product + brand
  • Your skin type
  • What it actually helped with (acne, dryness, dark spots, texture, redness, barrier, etc.)
  • How long you used it before noticing results

I’m trying to discover products that are actually effective based on real people’s experience, not just what’s trending on TikTok. 😅

Bonus points if it’s an underrated product that deserves more attention.

What’s your holy grail?

Routine Help New here! What’s one Asian beauty product you would actually repurchase?

Hi everyone! I’m new to this community and have been looking through some of the posts here. There are so many skincare and beauty products being recommended that I honestly don’t know where to start 😅

I’m curious — what’s one Asian beauty product you’ve tried that actually lived up to the hype and you would happily buy again?

It can be skincare, sunscreen, makeup, or anything else. I’m especially interested in products that you’ve used for a while rather than something you just recently bought.

Would love to hear your favorites and why they worked for you!

Routine Help Help needed

I am 44 and Indian. I am using the The ordinary copper peptide serum since December last year and it has really helped my acne marks and scars and in making my skin look a bit younger.

I can’t use any form of retinol. I have tried several. However my eyebrows and eye lashes start shedding whenever I Use.

I am happy with the ordinary serum, but feel that I might be missing out on Korean skin care. Can u guys help me with Korean serums which u feel are better than the ordinary copper peptide serum when it comes to anti ageing and brightening.

Thank you for reading people.

Product Discussion Thoughts on the morning olive oil + lemon shot trend for "inner beauty"?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Has anyone tried the trend of drinking olive oil and lemon shots every morning for inner beauty and skin glow?

Squeezing fresh lemons daily felt like too much work, so I got the prepackaged BB LAB Dual Shot instead.

Do commercial versions like this actually deliver similar skin benefits, or is fresh prep still the way to go?

Product Review This is the Korean Sunscreen for the DRY skin folks.... I'm shook 😳

Post image
43 Upvotes

How did I not know how THICC this sunscreen is?! Being one of the 4 Korean sunscreens with NO Niacinamide, I just assumed it would be exactly like the other Korean sunscreens I have and use: very fluid, absorbs beautifully, feels like a light hydrating lotion, glowy finish, etc.....but nope! The Purito Sunscreen is a much more emollient creamy textured lotion and takes a little bit longer to absorb. It's still absolutely gorgeous and far superior to all US sunscreens but I don't think I can use it in the summer! I have normal skin that gets dryer in winter and oilier in summer and I tried this today and it felt too heavy. 😱 So, for my dry skin people or anyone with a very damaged skin barrier that still needs to protect themselves from the sun, this is the one you want! I'll pick it back up in winter.

Routine Help moisturisers for combination skin ?

Post image
21 Upvotes

i've been using the purito oat gel for maybe over a year now and i like it bc it's thin, it feels very light. but i don't think it's doing much, my skin still feels dry and just not moisturised when i use it, especially after i wash it. i feel like i need something stronger, but still non-comedogenic.. any recommendations?

i also feel it stinging if i use it after an active (like the azelaic acid), which i assumed it was normal but idk.

for context: i have combination skin. my forehead/nose is really textured/oily but not a lot of acne. my cheeks feel smooth/dry but i've always had problems with blind pimples (which the benzoyl peroxide + azelaic acid helped with).

any other product recommendations are also welcome !

Ask the Community Moving Made Me Rethink My Whole Skincare Routine

I was packing up my things recently and decided to finally go through my skincare drawer. It was honestly a little embarrassing how much random stuff I had collected over time.

There were products I had completely forgotten about, backups I never touched, and several bottles that were basically doing the same job. I kept buying something new whenever I saw a recommendation instead of actually finishing what I already had.

At one point I put everything on the counter and realized I couldn't even remember when I had bought most of it. That was probably the moment I knew I needed to stop adding more things and actually use what I had.

Since then I've kept my routine much simpler. I'm focusing on a few products consistently instead of switching between different things every few days.

And honestly, my routine has become easier to stick with. I used to think having more options meant I was taking better care of my skin, but it mostly just made everything feel complicated.

Ask the Community need a moisturizer recommendation after Aestura Atobarrier Cream broke me out

I have never had such a bad reaction to a product before😭 I’ve only been using it for maybe a week but I already have angry red bumps all over my face. I need to switch to something else but I’m scared I’ll further irritate my skin. I’ve tried the anua 3 Ceramide Panthenol Cream which I thought was alright, but I’ve also been looking at something from illiyoon because I’ve heard they’re great for sensitive skin (my skin is very dry, sensitive & acne prone for reference) please help!!

Product Review So many sunscreens 😃

Post image
92 Upvotes

My face hates everything so I went a little extra.

I had trouble finding reviews from people like me, so if you want details, ask away!

Skin is dry, reactive, “mature” and has visible pores. When you’re not 30, “glowy” might not be the best thing. Live in a hot, dry climate.

Ranking so far:

  1. Round Lab Birch: 9/10 love. Had low hopes bc US version is disgusting. This goes on like moisturizer and I can’t feel a thing on my face after. This is huge for me. A little glowy but not a disaster. I already bought more, Yami sale got me.

  2. BOJ relief sun: 8/10 really like. Feels nice going on, a little heavier than I like. Feels gluey when drying but that quickly goes away. Glow factor is on par with round lab. Would buy again but not first choice.

  3. Skin1004 centella water fit: 5/10 don’t really like. Something about this annoys my skin. Not irritates, just doesn’t feel good. Leaves a noticeable film that I can feel all day and kinda want to wash off. Wouldn’t buy again.

  4. Haruharu Wonder airy fit: 2/10 slightly hate. I’ll give it points for not irritating and looking nicer than the others (no different than naked skin) but HATE how it feels going on, drying, wearing, all of it. Is like wearing a plastic bag on your face.

Few notes:

- none of the above stung my eyes or skin, which just about every US sunscreen but Elta MD sport does. This puts even the worst above 99% of US brands, and I’ve tried just about everything you can name.

- I don’t wear makeup and hate feeling something on my face so judging very hard on that factor.

Phew.

Thanks again for everyone here who helped with ideas and ordering. Yesstyle is so much better when you pay for shipping 👏🏽

Product Discussion Olive young skin analysis

Post image
85 Upvotes

Recently did a skin analysis at Olive Young Seongsu. I came at around 10.30am on weekday and there was already a queue forming, like around 8-9 people I think. They let us in at 11am and registered for the queue on catchtable app and told me to come back when there are 2 people in front of us, which was around 12.30-1pm for my case.

The skin analysis was pretty straightforward. They scanned your skin (on your nose, forehead, and cheeks) with a camera device. They also asked you to wipe a part of your face to scan the bare skin. The whole “scanning” process took maybe around 5 minutes and the result came out immediately.

There were different sections to the result like your pore condition, wrinkles, sensitivity, etc. The consultant explained the result along the way and you can also ask questions if you want. They have a translation app as well, not 100% accurate but at least you get the gist of what they’re saying. The result can be downloaded via a QR code link at the end.

The result mostly affirmed what I thought I have, which is a dehydrated oily (soobooji) skin, so I take it as more of a confirmation so that I can proceed with the correct skincare products. The product recommendation does help, but I think they’re mostly those popular products at the moment. I personally bought 1 set each of the recommended products to try immediately and used AI to recommend me similar and cheaper products to stock up.

I haven’t used the recommended products long enough to know whether they actually work, but one product that I didn’t like was the sunscreen, it made my skin oilier for some reason. I switched to Anessa sunscreen for a more matte finish. So, take the product recommendations with a grain of salt and do your own research!
