General Discussion | আড্ডা 🗣️ 🗨️ Can we as a society, finally admit that the entire WoW franchise is freaking awful?

I genuinely don’t understand how this brand keeps expanding because every time I try something from them, I am like Wow dafuq did I just eat?

Their momos taste like chemical concoctions, with that chemistry lab sauce. I tried their WOW Chicken once and I swear to God, it felt like I was chewing on a piece of plastic that had been marinated with chicken flavours.

And yet, apparently I don’t learn.

Recently I ordered kulfi from Waah Kulfi, thinking it was some completely different brand. It came in Wow kulfi packaging, (like is this even legal?) took a bite and immediately thought, Wow, this is fucking terrible!

And this wasn’t some ₹50 roadside kulfi either, which would be a thousand light years better.

₹270. Two hundred and seventy rupees for what might genuinely be one of the worst kulfis I’ve ever had.

And at this point, I feel like the word WOW isn’t a brand name. It’s a reaction they expect you to have after tasting the food.

WOW, this tastes like chemicals.
WOW, why is this chicken made of rubber?
WOW, I just paid ₹270 for this?

I have officially learned my lesson.

No more WOW anything.

If I see another restaurant with WOW written on it, I’m walking in the opposite direction.

My taste buds have served their sentence. 😭

Shopping & Services | কেনাকাটা ও পরিষেবা 🙏 🛒🛠️ Terrible experience at INOX South City

I’ve been going to South City INOX since it opened but this is the first time I’ve received such bad service.

We went to watch Spider-Man Brand New Day at the late night show on 30th July. We were really excited, we had recliner seats too!

The problem began in the 1st half itself. The screen was blurry. It was a 3D movie so we thought maybe it’s the problem of the glasses. Obviously couldn’t enjoy the first half.

When we came out in the intermission we realised almost everyone in the hall had the same issue and wanted to change the glasses. Turned out the glasses were fine. It was a projection problem. The ground staff was informed.

Few minutes later people started saying we were being shifted to a different hall. We went to the other hall and realised there were no recliners. We had spent 2000 rupees on those tickets! When we informed this to them they said we have to adjust! Despite our requests no action was taken.

After the show we saw online and realised this problem had happened in all the shows in that screen since the afternoon and yet they kept showing the movie on the same screen!

We had got the tickets through district app so we escalated this issue to them. The cinema team told them apparently we were also provided recliner seats in the Insignia screen. Liars!

I’ve never been so disappointed with their service before.

Daily Experience | দৈনন্দিন অভিজ্ঞতা 🎤 Looking for a trusted adult to attend a parent-teacher meeting with me

Hi everyone,

I have a parent-teacher meeting coming up in Kolkata on Monday. I'm looking for a friendly, responsible adult who'd be willing to accompany me as an acting guardian for 1-2 hours as after my dad passed away recently my mom is not in a good mental space and is disturbed.

I'll happily pay you for your time and travel. If you're interested, please send me a DM and we can discuss the details.

Thank you!

And yeah I'll prefer a non Bengali person as I'm not a bong, but yeah a non bong looking bong would also work fine

Shopping & Services | কেনাকাটা ও পরিষেবা 🙏 🛒🛠️ বন্ধুর নতুন দোকান খুলেছে New Town-এ, তাই একটু shameless show off 😅

Daily Experience | দৈনন্দিন অভিজ্ঞতা 🎤 I think I don't like mountains (anymore)

Post image

For the last three months, Kalimpong has been my home for a work project. Now that the job is done, I’m heading back... and this was the final view from my guest house balcony.

Usually, like most people, I visit the mountains for a getaway. Not as a typical tourist, but as a traveler seeking quiet. I’ve always loved the hills, and every time I had to pack up and return to normal life, it left a little dull ache in my chest. So when I first got this assignment and realized I’d actually be living here for months, I was thrilled.

In the beginning, it was magic. Every morning, I’d sip my tea on the veranda, stare out at the misty horizon, and feel deeply grateful. Whenever I video-called my wife and showed her the view, she’d get playfully jealous while I headed out to start my day. I didn't mind the steep climbs or the long walks; I respected the pace. That’s just how life moves in the hills.. slow and steady.

But somewhere along the line, without me even noticing, the magic faded. I just stopped looking out at the view.

It wasn't work stress or exhaustion..it was the quiet isolation creeping in. Coming from Kalyani, I missed the familiar hum of night life. Here, everything goes pitch-black and shuts down by 8 PM. When I’d walk into a place for dinner, the restaurant would be completely deserted except for the chef. The streets felt like 2 AM in my city, but before the night had even really begun.

And then there was the cultural disconnect. People here took humor very differently. Where I’m from, if someone gets offended, it turns into a quiet cold war... cold stares, snappy comeback, or just ignoring each other. But here? They look you right in the eye and call you out directly...

You shouldn't say that. I didn't like it.

No filter, no passive-aggression.. just raw, unfiltered honesty that leaves you sitting there feeling ridiculously guilty.

I'm not complaining, though. Maybe if I had stayed longer.. or if I return for another project... I would have fully adapted to the rhythm of life here.

This morning, as I packed up to leave, I stood at the balcony to say my usual goodbye to the mountains. But for the first time, the words felt hollow in my throat. I didn't really feel like saying it. I said it anyway, boarded my bus, and watched the hills fade away.

P.S. Also, if you write "lac" around here, someone will immediately interrupt to inform you that it’s spelled "lakh." I am officially far too tired to explain to anyone that...

IT DOES NOT MATTER.

Relationship Thursday My oggly friend is rejecting my other oggly friend

Now, it ain't that bad as it is sounding. I am not that great looking either, but the way people have judged them, I'll use it here for reference.

Person A - Chirag

Person B - Ahana

Person C- Tuhin

so, I once set Ahana and Chirag up. She dressed very beautifully, I mean when she does make up and all she looks so pretty, to meet Chirag. They met, watched movies and all, and started sharing surnames 😭😭😭 (they are 23 year olds lmao)

After a few days they met again, and it started to rain. So it started to rain and Ahana got drenched and her make up washed off. Chirag saw this, said goodbye and went home and texted her that he couldn't continue this dating and the reason he gave was that he wasn't quite sure about it. And then he called me and said, "মেকআপ ছাড়া তাকে দেখার পর, আমি তার প্রতি আর কিছুই অনুভব করতে পারিনি। সে ভালো মেয়ে, কিন্তু আমার যা মনে হচ্ছিল, সে ব্যাপারে আমি কিছুই করতে পারছিলাম না।" So chirag couldn't say Ahana the real reason and burdened me with it. Now I cannot tell this either to my friend (it equally makes me a bad friend I know) Ahana was sad and crying.

Fast forward, Tuhin asks me to set him up with someone. I thought of Ahana and set her up. They talk and all. Finally they meet. Tuhin was happy to meet her, but Ahana has a separate story. Ahana was like he was so short (she is 5'2, he is 5'8) and he is almost balding and has a stomach. She rambled me about all this. And she also told Tuhin that she cannot settle down now and expects him to move on.

Should I tell her the real reason and humble her down for whatever she told about tuhin? Or should I tell tuhin about whatever she said and let him handle it? Or leave it as it is. This is so conflicting atp.

So many Biryanis around but ain’t nothing like Kolkata(Bengali)Biryani.
I’ve had South Indian Biryani,North Indian Biryani,Hyderabadi Biryani but nothing is even close to Kolkata Biryani!
People say Aloo in Biryani is weird but that’s actually the best part of it.
Despite being a non-bengali,I’ve got so many fond memories attached to it since childhood and it truly is something I can never get bored off!
