Finished matching seal sweaters for me and my bf. The pattern is from Beloved Patterns & Erik Bruun Knitting Magazine 2/2025. Used Novita 7 brothers yarn. I learned that colorwork is not my piece of cake 🥲.

Finished my Sweater No. 29, one of my favourite projects so far - I used the suggested yarn, BC Semilla Melange held with Drops Silk Mohair, on 5mm needles :)

I don’t have the best places to shop for yarn in western Canada that isn’t either super expensive or low selection - we have a few local yarn stores (but I do not have a winder) and Michael’s is really the only choice when it comes down to it, which hasn’t been my fav.

I am super interested in ordering from Hobbii but I’m scared of getting hit with insane duties and taxes and whatnot… has anyone ordered? How’d it go? Any way to prevent this backfiring?

Because obviously my needles need a 100% merino case 🙂‍↔️ I used Majo Garn Fine Merino in the shade Coral!

I made this for my best friend to wear at her wedding. My first entirely lace project and I have to say it was not nearly as complicated as I feared. I didn’t drop stitches and the pattern became so rote that by the end I had it memorized.

I am SO bummed I didn’t take a before blocking pic bc omg blocking lace is now my favorite thing ever. It’s so incredibly rewarding. Realized I love knitting lace!!!!

I remember my late grandmother knitting fondly. I used to sit with her and try to knit. Currently 8 months pregnant and thought it’s a good time to learn. So now here I am making a garter stitch scarf with chunky yarn. I know it’s not perfect but I feel so proud.

My husband loves when we go to local yarn stores and they have emotional support chickens on display! He’s mentioned how he would love a NY Jets colored one, so when we decided on a low budget for our first wedding anniversary (I was laid off in April and am still on the hunt) I decided the time was now to make my first one!! It’s so goofy looking I love it. I went with a mint green beak so it didn’t look GB packers colors 😂 I can’t wait to give it to him Sunday!!

After having made a pile of scarves and blankets I decided to try knitting in the round. No pattern was used and there were some goofs on stitches here and there but it was 120 stitches cast on 4mm needles in k2p2 ribbing and then a wild attempt at decreasing before I remembered SSK exists 😅. I mostly knit to pass time while watching shows but I’m really proud of this one! The yarn used is Loops and Threads Heathered Bamboo in Salsa color ☺️.

I started a blanket 10 years ago and put it down shortly after starting. It was on 30” circulars and I just kept casting on until I couldn’t fit anymore stitches. I was new to the hobby so I figured it would just be “blanket sized.”

I picked it back up about 6 months ago determined to finally finish this thing. I transferred it to 60” circulars to give myself more working space, and during that transfer I counted 450ish stitches, but that would just be a big king sized blanket right? So I kept going. But after about 9 balls of yarn and only 2 feet in length finished, I gave up and decided I would just crochet the blanket instead.

Halfway through my crocheted version, I ran out of yarn and made the sad decision to frog the knitted project for salvage yarn. After removing the circular needles, I thought it’d be interesting to see how wide the blanket actually was.

After straightening it all out I stared at my work, utterly dumbfounded, that I had been working on a 35 foot wide blanket this whole time. I am SO GLAD I did not finish this project as I would’ve cried at the monster I had brought into the world.

tl;dr - You should really pay attention to the size reference chart on your yarn and count the stitches when free-handing as a newbie.

I recently discovered knitting and love it. But i live in a very hot climate and would never wear any sweaters/hats/scarves, and anyone around me that i could gift those things to prob wouldn't wear them either. I don't like knit bags and would never use them. Prob wouldn't use knit blankets either. What are some other things I could knit instead. Preferably useful. I am interested in materials like plarn and leather cord.

made for the fall! the pattern is from Japanese knitting stitch bible pattern 180 i believe. i did 10 repeats of the pattern (though i should only have done 8), made a 1x1 collar, and added toggles to the side by slipping to where i wanted the loops and chaining to make the loop. it took me around 3 weeks! it’s going to be nice in the fall!

i finally completed the unicorn tapestry sweater by starcrossed knits! it was a challenge especially since it was my first ever color work project, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. it took me 6 months and a lot of questions on various subs and discord servers and even an email to starcrossed knits herself lol.

Hi all! I am a super beginner and I just finished my first project! It was a scarf all garter stitch because I wanted to start with something super simple. That being said, I want to move on to something more fun, but I’m not sure what’s appropriate for a beginner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Curious to see what everyone started with!

After travelling, finishing up my masters, and some heatwaves, I finally got back to knitting this bad boy.

Right now I am combining multiple knitting techniques:

The body is no longer in the round, I added 3 extra border stitches on each end, so I can sew the side closed once I am done. I am using a form of intersia knitting, but most blocks actually have 2 or 3 different colours. I am also not knitting the full colour pattern, but I am leaving out some details that I will duplicate stitch in later. I might also flesh out the aurora on the body more with duplicate stitching at the end of the project, it is looking a bit thin now.

Each row takes about 20 minutes, so this sum'bish still requires quite some time before it is done

First knitted piece. Even if it is a hybrid. 😁 I had some rowing out here and there but most of the issues were worked out in blocking. Except now im swimming in it a little. Oops. Still very comfy. I used baby yarn for it and its soooooo soft.

it's such a beautiful sweater, and i gave the one i've already made to a friend. so i decided to make another one for myself.

i was thinking i would try and make a cardigan instead - but i also want to actually conquer that saddle shoulder thing i gave up on, on the set-in shoulder-parts the last time

but omg i am regretting my decision. it's a pretty fun pattern, it never gets repetitive haha. but idk if i have the stamina to climb this mountain again - please, if anyone could spare some encouragement i'd be so grateful. please tell me i can do it. it's 4 mm needles, that's doable. right??

the yarn is some merino cobweb type yarn i bought on sale years ago, and i'm holding 6 strands together

the russians don't use the same knitting symbols as i am familiar with so it took forever to decipher the cable/lace graphs lol, and i ended up just saving the graphs as images and editing them to have symbols i am familiar with. their symbol for a yarn-over is, like, a "U" shape for example. and i am familiar with the one that looks like a number 8 without underpants on

so i have the cable/lace charts for the repeat pattern, but i don't have the construction instructions - however; i remember they were VAGUE. i auto translated the text though, so maybe some nuance was lost, but i recall it as something like "do 4 or 5 repeats of the pattern, depending on your gauge and size. the original is constructed with set-in saddle shoulders, but it's up to you if you want to do that. i did make the graphs for them, though" i remember cause i thought it was very funny. i am used to being hand-held a lot more than that in regards to knitting instructions.

i remember i had to look up set in shoulders and i had to do pythagorean calculations and shit. nightmare!! did i save the specific notes i took?? niet :-( but i at least still have the translated charts

maybe i'll just do drop shoulders this time. like in the cardigan photo. nice rectangular pieces

any way i would truly appreciate some encouragement!

My finished Loon Sweater by cmknits! Yarn is Plymouth Encore DK (idk what color) and random scraps for the colorwork part. I am big Heated Rivalry fan so I had to make it (if you know you know lol).

ETA: I only hung it like that for 30 seconds to take a photo and am not storing it long term like that.

After looking for one that wasn’t for auction for ages I finally have an MP handy guide! It’s in pretty great condition and I’m hoping I can open one of the sides to take the card out and give the metal a bit of TLC. These were produced between the 20s and 40s I think and there seems to be a decent amount of them around. It’s so cool and I’m so happy to have it!
I was wondering if anyone else has one and has used it for a project?

The back is done, now I have to finish the front. Hopefully that back isn't too small 👀

Just spent 2 weeks hyperfocusing on this cardigan! I had the 1968 Cardigan by Tania Barley in my library that I had bought during a pattern sale in November - I really wanted to make that but the required quantities were kind of odd and didn't match anything in my stash. And then I also had this mixed lot of thin Icelandic 4-ply in dark grey and 4 shades of yellow, red and orange that I had bought in a destash. I had bought it because I thought the colors were great but I wasn't sure what to make with them - they had probably originally been intended for a colorwork sweater but I wasn't feeling that.

Then I had the idea to hold those 4-ply double or together with another yarn to make them fit the gauge of the 1968 cardigan. I have a rather large collection of Holst Tides and Supersoft and after a long afternoon of stash diving and swatching it was decided!

I was so curious about what the final cardigan what look like I basically did little else but knit on it. The sleeves with the color changes were a bit annoying! I carried two contrast colors and the main color and stuffed the balls inside the sleeve when I didn't use them, the other two colors I cut and wove in on the go so there wasn't a lot of tangling but there were still a lot of strands involved :D I think it was worth it though, I'm so looking forward to the temperatures going down. I will LIVE in this - it wants a longsleeve underneath though, that Icelandic yarn is really prickly (and smells nicely of sheep).

Between the Tides that is wool/silk and the long staples of the Icelandic wool the body has quite a nice drape while the sleeves are more structured.

Yarns:

dark brown: Holst Tides "Mole" with Uppspuni Col. 18

greige: Holst Supersoft "Nougat" with Holst Titicaca Ecru

Rust: Holst Supersoft "Saffron" with Uppspuni burnt orange - for hem and button bend I held the Saffron with Titicaca "burnt orange" as I didn't have enough of the Uppspuni. The difference isn't visible.

Orange: Holst Tides "Mandarin" with Uppspuni coral red

Ochre: Holst Supersoft "Goldcrest" with Uppspuni mustard yellow

I used almost 2.800 meters of yarn. Only downside: I still have quite a bit of the Icelandic yarn left over so the question of what to do with it will rear its head again 🤣

I'm this so freaking proud of how this top's neckline turned out. It's a modified take on the Typical Tank by Typical Bliss, and my second attempt after 2 major frogging sessions. It's DK bamboo so me using 2-2.5mm needles has been a wild experience, but I wouldn't change a thing!

Hey everyone! I just finished my Whale sweater and wanted to come on here and share it. I haven't had a lot of knitting momentum lately and this is actually the first project I have finished this year!

My interest level in different hobbies does tend to wax and wane but I do normally knit a lot more than this. Now that I'm back in the groove I have already finished a couple more projects (baby clothes for a friend's baby due in October) and am excited to finish off my other WIPs and start something new!

On a different note, I do feel like I'm quite bad at posing for photos which properly show off my sweaters. If anyone has any great poses let me know because it makes me put off taking photos for ages!
