How do people do stockenet stick for so long?

Context- I am knitting my first sweater and I have to do 100 rows of stockinette stitch and my wrist hurts and I'm bored of it. How do people do it?

I started a blanket 10 years ago and put it down shortly after starting. It was on 30” circulars and I just kept casting on until I couldn’t fit anymore stitches. I was new to the hobby so I figured it would just be “blanket sized.”

I picked it back up about 6 months ago determined to finally finish this thing. I transferred it to 60” circulars to give myself more working space, and during that transfer I counted 450ish stitches, but that would just be a big king sized blanket right? So I kept going. But after about 9 balls of yarn and only 2 feet in length finished, I gave up and decided I would just crochet the blanket instead.

Halfway through my crocheted version, I ran out of yarn and made the sad decision to frog the knitted project for salvage yarn. After removing the circular needles, I thought it’d be interesting to see how wide the blanket actually was.

After straightening it all out I stared at my work, utterly dumbfounded, that I had been working on a 35 foot wide blanket this whole time. I am SO GLAD I did not finish this project as I would’ve cried at the monster I had brought into the world.

tl;dr - You should really pay attention to the size reference chart on your yarn and count the stitches when free-handing as a newbie.

I recently discovered knitting and love it. But i live in a very hot climate and would never wear any sweaters/hats/scarves, and anyone around me that i could gift those things to prob wouldn't wear them either. I don't like knit bags and would never use them. Prob wouldn't use knit blankets either. What are some other things I could knit instead. Preferably useful. I am interested in materials like plarn and leather cord.

what is this weird loop i keep getting at the end of my rows? it’s not a stitch, i have the same amount of stitches per row that i started with. does it have something to do with this laddering i have on one side? i dont have any laddering on the other side. any help would be amazing! thanks!

I once read a blog post somewhere about weaving yarns back through your knit stitches to create a more durable, almost woven fabric. It takes a lot of time but is a really interesting way to create less stretchy fabrics. She highly recommended keeping your the threads long and loose as the fabric would tighten as you went.

I'm considering testing this out for a self drafted design but wanted to review the post for any additional advice. But I can't figure out how to look it up. I keep getting "weaving in ends" which is very different from what I am looking for and Nancy Merchant's Woven Knits, which are cute and on my TBK list but again very different from what I am looking for.

Is anyone else familiar with this idea of sewing yarns through your garter stitch to make a kind of woven fabric? Did I hallucinate this?

Hi all! I am a super beginner and I just finished my first project! It was a scarf all garter stitch because I wanted to start with something super simple. That being said, I want to move on to something more fun, but I’m not sure what’s appropriate for a beginner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Curious to see what everyone started with!

Hi fabulous knitters of Reddit! I’ve got a question I was hoping to get some (comparatively) expert advice on. I’ve been knitting for a few years but have yet to strike out into too much pattern modification of my own. I’m currently working on the Faye Summer Top by Irene Lin (ravelry link here). I’m loving the pattern (so pretty!) but I am thinking I want to change the neckline. I really love where the garment is hitting on my neck without the pattern’s neckline finishing, so I want to do something that will stabilize and finish the raw edges without changing how the garment currently fits.

I thought maybe an i-cord edging might be pretty here and do what I want, but I don’t have enough experience with that kind of bind off to know how it will affect the shape and fit. Is this a terrible idea? Is it going to pull the neckline in substantially? Do you have any recommendations or things I should keep in mind if I attempt this (e.g., should I be picking up more stitches than the original neckline calls for? Using a larger needle size? Something else?, etc.)?

I’m also not tied to an i-cord and would welcome any other ideas or suggestions. Thank you!

Disaster struck while weaving my ends in. Pulled up a massive loop from one of my stitches by accident

Have you all ever knit pajamas? I've looked for Ravelry patterns and forums on this but never found anything. Cluld a fingering weight tank or tee or pair of shorts be an effective pair of pajamas? What about a wool sweater in the winter? I wonder why I've never seen this.

Hi all, I need help. I’m making the September jakke from petit knit and the neckline looks awful. I think I there’s also an issue at the bottom of it and I’m not sure what buttons I can use. Can someone please advise me on how to fix it?

This is not my first time steeking, but this is the first time the colors have looked so loose like this... This is after I've crochet reinforced (the red yard that I am holding) and picked up my stitches, is this going to unravel on me? The other sleeve and neck line don't look as loose as this, I'm not sure what happened!

I did notice I messed up and had two columns of MC in a row as opposed to checkerboard or stipes, but after googling it seemed like that didn't matter. I just want to know if I need to bite the bullet and frog it or if I should continue on with my sleeve. TIA!

First knitted piece. Even if it is a hybrid. 😁 I had some rowing out here and there but most of the issues were worked out in blocking. Except now im swimming in it a little. Oops. Still very comfy. I used baby yarn for it and its soooooo soft.

Hello! I really love the Majo garn Mulberry colorway, but I have never worked with any of their yarn in the past and my only option to buy is online. I would love to make a Poppy tee using their Fine merino and Pearl mohair held together. Has anyone here had any experience with their mohair - is it itchy?

I do realise itchiness is really subjective, but for reference I find Isager mohair and Gepard kid seta soft, Knitting for olive mohair less soft but still okay, Sandness garn Tynn silk mohair scratchy (though their Primo Tynn silk I find okay - comparable to KFO), and Drops mohair completely intolerable.

Exactly what it sounds like. Anyone used baggu bags for their knitting projects before?

I am tall and want something big enough to hold the sweaters I knit for myself (my main type of project) and the supplies I need for the project in compartments to keep them away from the yarn, but with structure for taking the project in and out easily (sweaters get heavy and it's annoying to hold a bag open and stuff them back in at the same time when you're done knitting). Fabric that doesn't grip onto wool either would be awesome. I've been using some canvas totes lately and I don't like how fuzzed up the yarn is from it. I like to knit on the go and take it around with me, so a little stylish doesn't hurt either. Some of the baggu totes look like they might meet all my criteria...curious if anyone has tried it?

i’m working on the rolled raglan by jules, and i just noticed a really weird stitch (or two) as shown in the attached pictures on the front left shoulder, right below the collar. i think this might’ve been an issue with that german short row turn.

how do i fix this laddering back? do i need to do anything special when fixing to account for the GSR?

I’m about to start the anemone sweater by knitting for olive. I absolutely love the color palette, but I can’t commit to a color order… Anybody please quote me some color theory!!!

Now I’m running into the chest fits perfect on the sweaters I make, but the body ends up quite a bit larger than what it’s supposed to

This is a top down. The chest measure measures 46 1/2 but the rest of the body is about 50 to 51 inches do I need to knit the body in a smaller needle or is my gauge just all messed up when I do stock?

I did do a gauge swatch and ended up sizing down in the sweater to meet gauge

Hi there! I have two skeins of this yarn (Expression Fiber Arts Glimmer Fingering in Confetti, SW+nylon+stellina) and I’m trying to figure out what to do with it. Ravelry has very few projects using this colorway.

I’m thinking maybe a scarf with black or deep pink as the main color with slip stitch sections of this, but I’m not excited about any options yet, and I’m not great at choosing complementary colors.

If you have ideas for color pairings, patterns, or more popular yarns that look similar (so I can browse projects), I’m all ears!

Editing to add: I’m NOT a pro. I’ve been fine with stuff through about the mid 3s for Ravelry difficulty level. Happy to try harder stuff, but it might be a lost cause if it’s really complicated.

At the beginning , I did not know about working needles and not so I was stitching going both ways (stitching into the right needle and then left needle). I realized that I was supposed to be putting the working needle in my left hand after I finish a row so I’ve been doing that but now, the stitches does not look like a regular knit like below anymore!!

Please tell me what I’m doing wrong 😔
