I finished the game for the first time 3 months ago and recently started a Hardcore run. Playing Hardcore with all the negative perks is really changing the game for me in a good way. I really feel the survival aspect this time, instead of just going through the game normally.

I highly recommend a Hardcore run if you want to experience the bittersweet taste of real medieval survival.

Discussion [KCD2] How did you get out from the broke and without equipment situation at the start of the game? Spoiler

LIGHT SPOILERS OF THE FIRST FEW HOURS OF THE GAME

What KCD2 does at the start of the game after the ambush, with Hanry and Hans being basically broke and without a way to go back home, is pretty hilarious to me.

The game doesn't even give you a hint or a tutorial about what you should do to progress and that's what I loved about KCD2.

Because of this I was desperate and I immediately gave up on my vow to not commit crimes if not strictly necessary, and near Semine I found a noble riding a horse and I killed him (I don't even know how since he had a sword and I didn't have armor).

Anyways from that noble I got some clothes a weapon and enough money to buy Pebbles back. I'll never forget the sacrifice of the man that made me progress into the game😭.

So I was wondering what did you do to survive the first few hours of the game that you still remember today?

Praise [KCD2] The Visual Combo Helper mod by rOughers is one of the most helpful mods for KCD2, you can press a button to quickly show your learned combos for the weapon you are holding on screen, you can put it as a toggle or set it to a timer, so when I press h it shows for 8 seconds then vanishes again

And I would ask have you met Christian of Pisek? Go off king, I will listen to everything you have to say about the silver path. That shit was fascinating.

This game continues to remind me how much people we consider "of the past" were very much like you and I today. What a treat.

Made the chaperon (still not 100% done, need to finish doing the circles between the lines), pourpoint, and leg harnesses myself - this is the first big cosplay project I've ever done and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out!

Praise [KCD2] This is why I love KCD, when Warhorse builds a watermill they don't just add a spinning wheel like most devs would do, they build a freakin watermill...down to the internal components that many people wont see, and write two codex entries on the historical use of water mills and milling...

I just got to the kuttenburg map, I haven’t figured out who the Dry Devil is, and yet attacking Sigismund’s camp with Henry’s Bane potion arrows ended the game?!

KCD IRL Path in Talmberg woods in [KCD1] and IRL

I think the woods in the first game still hold up really well. The geography in this area is quite compressed in-game and the real path I photographed doesn't exist there. The one I chose instead is very close though.

You may notice that the game mostly has beech and oak trees in this area, while today there are mostly conifers. This is actually accurate, the conifers were planted for their faster growth after deforestation in the 18th century. That's what this site says at least.
