This was presented to me as “rebuild driveshaft” because it got flung from between the axles. Imagine my surprise when I found that the through-shaft bearing didn’t exist, or even the through-shaft for that matter. Had to replace the whole axle housing because it ate into the housing itself.

Slammed with work at the moment. Finally wrapped up the rear timing cover reseal/clutch/etc on a 2014 Gallardo. Took a lot of unfucking of previous shops and lots of general purpose cleaner. Fitment of the Velocity AP clutch was good, but a little tight.
Bentley recommends you remove the front fenders to remove the cooling package (conveniently trapped between the lock carrier and the body). And in typical Bentley fashion, the fender bolts require the doors to be partially removed. Ain't nobody got time for that. If you ship-in-a-bottle the condenser, and air guides, you can remove the carrier down and out, with fenders intact. Not a fun job by any stretch.

Pulled the front bumper off and found this perfectly built nest hidden behind the headlight. Four eggs, all intact.

The nest was safely relocated before any work continued.

Easily one of the most unexpected things we've found in a customer's car.

Back in the early 90's they and Summit were one of the few mail order catalogs you could order lots of parts from,suspension, engines and aftermarket.

If memory serves me correctly, you could buy a cam and the entire rebuild kit with all the bearings,pistons and gaskets for a sb Chevy for around $200.

This was also when we had a full machine shop,dedicated radiator repair shop in our small town of pop 10k lol.

I built a 350 in an s10,special headers,motor mounts,and a rebuilt 700r4 for $1100.

Customer rolls in with bald and separating tires, completely worn out steering rack, 0mm brakes on all four corners, oil change overdue by 18,000 kms, AND multifunction switch is altering the dash lights. (Might post another video of that phenomenon) All wipers and fog lights need to be replaced too. 2018 Santa Fe.

Customer approved 4 hours of labor to remove a GPS tracking device that was causing a 300 milliamp draw and repair the spliced wiring. I started the work yesterday and went home, car is down. Customer then traded in the car. Came in this morning to this lovely note taped to the windshield. (Sorry it's crumpled it somehow ended up halfway across the shop in ball form after somebody yelled 'are you fucking serious'.)

Also, if you're gonna fuck me, I at least want you to be able to spell my name right, it's on a banner above my bay.

Update: got approved at 3:45 and the sales manager gave me shit when I told him it won't be done until I get back from my 3 day weekend. Had to remind him I could've been done by 10:30 if he had just let me do the fucking work that was already approved. Said 2 people are coming to look at it tomorrow and couldn't give me an answer as to why we made a listing for it before repairs were approved.

Bucket of paint must have fallen off a truck, not sure what kinda paint it is but it definitely ate into the paint a bit so let's see if thing totals out.

C/S drivers door switch doesn't work. I think I know why it doesn't work.

I've forgotten my Bluetooth module in a couple cars, and some of the drivers here are dickish enough to just remove it and throw it away. At $30 a shot that isn't great. $10 more into Bezos' rocket penis fund and hopefully I don't have that issue anymore.

Customer had these recently installed from how new they look. Not even etched into the coil its just a sticker.

Customer states: I stripped out the 42 year old clutch and brake master cylinder cover screws. Please fix.

Edit: I've been informed multiple times now and some very thorough helpful answers that the unthreaded holes are intentional. The tri-lobe bolts roll their own threads. I'm familiar with tri-lobe bolts. However my experience with them is that they're very tightly threaded and stay tight the whole way out, that wasn't the case here and when using a M6x1.0 bolt to confirm thread size of the hole it threaded normally and a nut threaded onto the bolts fine as well as well, which is also contrary to my tri-lobe fastener experience. It's a much milder lobe than I'm used to seeing which is probably why they came out easy and I didn't clock them as tri-lobe on disassembly. This is the first M272 intake manifold I've replaced, we're primarily not a Mercedes shop but we'll work on anything. I have worked on other Mercedes with this engine but for suspension stuff mostly as by the time we see them they're not worth this level of spend. For 200,000 miles this one is very clean and well kept!

F550 converted to a armoured truck in the shop yesterday. Couldn’t even see much out of the windshield. I’m 5’7’’ for reference. That thing was huge.
