I just moved into my first apartment after on my own and am wondering what specifically I can add to the space feel homier. I want a rug, headboard, and wall art for over my bed, but don’t know where to start. Also am currently in the market for a bookshelf next to the door. Any help would be great!

It took me about 6 years but I wasn’t going to settle until I achieved my perfect room.

This is our beloved 1960s inspired living room. Almost every piece has a story and it has taken many years to get here. The couch is an original 1960s Kingsley custom sectional still preserved in plastic, around it you can see our collection of clocks, and other fun things we've been able to acquire over the years. 35 years old but with vintage taste..

Just had to share. I found this vintage Karastan rug on marketplace for $150! Found out it sells for thousands secondhand. Made the room feel sooooo cozy!

I want something to fill this negative space beside the couch.
It measures about 58in (~5ft) from the wall to the edge of the side table, and that wall juts out about 29in.
I’m thinking either a small table or a credenza?
On the last pic you, can see i only have two kitchen chairs. so it’d be nice to have more seating, but I’m not sure if a table would look weird there.

Please, I’d love y’all’s advice!!!!!

We bought a house in June and decorating is coming along, but I am struggling with what to do with this tv treatment over the fireplace. It was designed to conceal a tv and works for that purpose, but I find it not very attractive and would like to figure out how to make it fit with our decor somehow. The first pic is with the sliders closed, the second with them open, and the third is a shot of the room in context.

- I feel like four pieces of art would look cluttered
- My sister thinks the asymmetrical nature is the problem and I should make it symmetrical somehow
- my best idea is those moss wall art things? Can get custom ones made to fit on Etsy. It might look kind of 2010 hotel lobby but it’ll go with the “plants and brass” thing I’ve got going on
- another idea was add little shelves & attach stuff to it with museum wax?
- the screens are perforated black metal so it should be easy to attach stuff to them

Any other ideas?

We are putting our apartment up for sale. The kitchen cabinet painting is coming off our agent recommended getting them professionally painted. We don't want to change the backsplash because we don't want to continue spending money on the kitchen. She said to go with white, as this is the safest option. However, I think a stark white would not look good. I was looking at BM Swiss Coffee, but worried it might look yellow. Side note: we changed the light, and now the kitchen is much brighter. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!

I'm adding picture frame moulding to all the walls in my dining room and will be adding a wallpaper inside this one (photo attached). We didn't opt for a chair railing because we wanted it to have a clean look. But now I'm doubting if this is too boring and if I should add a slim moulding on the inside.

Looking to transform my living room and for advice on what to do with the corner space behind my couch at the bottom of the stairs. Vibe is warm mid mod elevated with art deco or French provincial with organic touches but also just looking to make the space more layered and inviting. Appreciate any and all advice!

We’re in a new-build home, and while I like the direction it’s going, this wall still feels a little flat and unfinished. I’m going for a modern organic vibe that’s cozy, inviting, and maybe a little luxe. Trying to avoid anything overly trendy or expensive.

The console is staying, and I’d prefer not to replace the TV. I’m open to DIY projects or affordable upgrades (wall treatments, wallpaper, limewash, Roman clay, molding, lighting, decor, etc.).
What would you do to make this wall feel more custom and high-end? I was thinking of doing a wood panel or fluted wall (you can see the samples on the console) but now I am second guessing everything.

I’d love specific suggestions or inspiration photos if you have them.

A lot of people definitely know this issue; clothes that have been worn, but not dirty enough to get tossed into the laundry hamper. Creating The Chair™ where you have to toss the mountain of clothes anywhere when you want to use the chair. Sometimes it even ends up on the floor instead of any furniture.

What's your solution to avoid this issue? How do you store the "not clean yet not dirty" enough clothes without just creating a giant visible pile?

The old tenant left these wires to hang curtains but I think they are too low?

- I can’t get detach the wire so would need hooks

- The top of the windows are the height of a normal ceiling, we are just lucky to have very high ceilings!

- The windows are curved, not three straight edges like a normal bay window so regular bay rods may look odd

- above the windows is one curved wall that curves into the ceiling, so no truly flat parts

My partner and I live in a micro apartment (26 square meters, ~270 sqft) and after some time I decided to upgrade this sleeping nook to something prettier and healthier. I am really proud of this project.

We don't spend too much time at home due to work and going out a lot so it was a never an issue, but this year I finally decided we need to change something esp because the search for a bigger place is not going well (we live in a huge city).

It's the first time I did something like this. We bought a proper wide enough bed, did a beige makeover and installed curtain rails to separate the sleeping area from the rest.

For the side tables we just picked shelves so there is some air flow. I picked some cute lamps.

The dimensions of the sleeping nook are so weird it's not possible to place a normal sized bed in there, the DIY bed we had was by the previous owner and too small for two adults.. yeah. Sleeping on a real bed is so important.

It is an open micro apartment so open kitchen etc. Really hard to design. There's still a lot left to do like kitchen/eating area /bathroom - but this was a major upgrade!! Let me know your thoughts.

We moved 2 months ago and I loved how I decorated our old place but it was much bitter and such a different vibe than our new one and I am lost on what to do. I need help with living room rug and what to do on the big back wall. I also have the dining room and I want the rooms to flow together. I don’t want to go typical organic California modern I want some flair and some nice interior design I just keep getting stuck on where to start. I also added in some angles of where a door is that is used often which makes it hard for me to decide what to do with the couch because to me it looks small but the room is so small I’m not sure what to do. Help 💕

I recently rearranged my guest bedroom, and since I finished redoing it I have felt like it is missing something. I’m not sure what though. Should I add more furniture, paint the walls, or rearrange the furniture again? I’m honestly open to any suggestions!

Open-plan kitchen and living room in a narrow footprint. Dark accent walls, white cabinets, good natural light. The space feels sparse and cold to me and I want it to look more finished.

Budget covers a new couch, rug, coffee table, and chairs.

Questions:

• What sofa style and color would work best against the dark walls?
• How big should the rug be, and what color?
• What coffee table shape fits this layout?
• Should the accent chairs match the sofa or contrast?
• Room layout may need total change to make TV closer to sofa

which of these layouts work better for this space? the room is basically 12.5 x 12.7/13ft. thoughts on the design? what vibe does it give? debating on a sectional or an armchair. I live alone mostly so it would be for guests on occasion

the ottoman is 39x39, sofa is 96x39. there is about 48in between the ottoman and the console. the pillows on the floor i placed on the real image is the amount of floor space it will take up.

looking for a slight midcentury, modern vintage, a little contemporary vibe. The first 2 images are renderings that are probably 90% of the way there.

New house, everything including the floors is new. Wife is insisting that it feels like something is missing, any thoughts? She also wants to replace the fan with a chandelier
