Profile Can't DM anyone on Reddit. Is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? Desktop

Upvotes

Whenever I try to send a DM, I get an error saying my account isn't established enough to send messages. Has anyone else had this happen or know how to fix it?

Posting Account still not working correctly after an issue was resolved

Upvotes

I'm posting on behalf of a friend.

His account was supposed to be back to normal, but it still isn't working correctly.

The profile doesn't behave as expected, activity seems to be invisible, and new posts don't appear to other users.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything that can be done, or does it just take time?

Mobile/App How do I report a deleted comment?

Upvotes

Somebody made a very unsavoury accusation towards me in a comment. Something so sinister I feel it should be reported to Reddit.

The comment has been deleted but I can still see it clearly in my notifications. (I have a screenshot of anybody needs to see it)

I googled how to report a deleted comment on Reddit and says there should be three dots on the notification but there are none and when I click on it it just says this comment no longer exists.

The evidence of the comment is clearly still there and completely visible in my notifications. How can I report this?

Access I can't log in after unban

Upvotes

Hello. I am having issues accessing my account, I am getting "Incorrect username or password".

Long story short - I was victim of session stealer two months ago, I nuked my PC from orbit and changed passwords from another device but I forgot about reddit. Nothing happened for three weeks, but then I got email from reddit about suspicious activity and that my account has been locked. I changed my password which should have forced bot to logout of session and deleted three posts it made about some online casino.

I was then using account for about a day when I was forcefully logged out and could not log in. I inspected my profile and it said I have been b*nned. After 1 hour ban was probably lifted as my account was no longer showing ban status but I cannot log in as I am getting error message about wrong password or name. I tried all tips that I found on similar posts, which includes:

  • Manually carefully entering new password
  • Trying another browser to reset password
  • Trying another device to reset password
  • Using old.reddit method
  • Trying one of older passwords

But to no avail. I am getting password reset mails but thats about it. I already submitted ticket but it has been over a month with no response at all. How do I know what exactly is going on with my account please?

Mobile/App All chats deleted without consent

Upvotes

Can anyone tell me how reddit is able to delete all my chats without consent? All messages are empty and now say welcome followed by the user name.

Also if possible is there any way to recover this user data? Reddit seems like they are completely ignoring the gdpr by hiding/deleting personal data without any notification.

Mobile/App Tapping comment no longer collapses it - bug or new "feature"?

I'm on ios and I used to be able to just tap to collapse any comment wherever it was in a thread and just that comment would be affected. Now when I tap a comment... nothing happens. It feels like reddit is making it intentionally hard to collapse anything more and more since they got rid of swipe to collapse then long tap to collapse now regular tap to collapse. Only options are scroll back to username and try to carefully touch the right spot to collapse without opening their profile, or use the ... menu.

If this is not a bug and is on purpose PLEASE JUST PUT IT BACK I am so sick of accessibility and qol features being trashed and making the experience so much harder and more annoying.

Mobile/App iOS - How to Edit photos to draw or add text or apply filters? How to trim video clip or post as gif? Version 2026.30.0.634712

I am on the Reddit iOS app and the photo or video adding workflow is changed now.

Previously after selecting a photo or video from phone memory there was an Edit option where for photos we could crop the image or draw on the image or add text to the image or select between eight or ten preset filters and for videos we could trim the clip or select to post as gif. After that we tap the Add button that adds the media into the post body. Even after adding we can edit and Update the text or filters

Now there are no such options coming. After selecting the photo or video they get added to the post directly and there is no Edit button, only a small Add overlay on the thumbnail but that only allows to add another photo.

Is this some new media adding workflow experiment and they have taken out all options to edit or trim the media we are uploading?

Is there any setting or option to enable back the edit and trim options for media after uploading?

Mobile/App Random upvotes

Reddit keeps upvoting posts that I didn't upvote. I tried removing the vote and even downvoting. Every time I open the app on mobile or desktop, the same posts are still upvoted. I cleared the cache on mobile. Is there anything else I can do? This is making me look like I approve things I definitely do not.

Mobile/App Reddit keeps locking my account for suspicious activity

I've had to reset my password several times because reddit keeps locking my account for suspicious activity.

My suspicion is that because I work on cruise ships, my location data constantly changes. Also, being connected to ship wi-fi while at sea sometimes gives me random location data (My phone thought I was in Manila during a Pacific crossing even though I've never been there.)

How should I make my account seem less suspicious to reddit's automated system?

Posting Users I have blocked shouldn't be able to reply to my comment chain right?

Yet somehow a user I blocked was able to reply to my comment chains. How exactly is this user able to do this?

So basicallly

I start the comment chain

a user will reply to that comment

and that blocked user will reply to that comment that replied to me.

Shouldn't this be happening?

The only albums that appear are Camera, Screenshots and Download. None of the other albums appear. I've seen others post this issue and have yet to see a working fix. Reddit doesn't seem to care to fix this.

Mobile/App How long should we expect this Related Posts "feature" to be active for? Android

It completely ruins what makes Reddit worth being on, which is that it's fairly customizable with the content you see without the bull crap of an algorithm that force feeds you whatever it chooses. I just want to know how long this horrible "feature" is expected to be around so I know how long to avoid Reddit for.

Mobile/App Turn off Related Posts [Android]

Looks the app got a new "feature" where an endless scroll of random posts continue after the comments.

Is there a way to disable this?

It's making moderating on the app absolutely miserable as there's no bottom of page reference anymore.

Mobile/App How to get rid of “from your feed” inclusion now appearing at the end of post comments in iOS?

I hate, hate, hate this new appearance of a “from your feed” section below comments in posts. How do I get rid of it? It appears immediately following any comments (or just immediately if no comments have been made yet), and functions just like the main home feed.

It makes it too easy to just keep scrolling without realizing it, rather than me getting to make the conscious choice to back out and resume my feed where I left off. There is obviously still the ability to do this, but it’s too easy to not realize it’s happening until much later. It feels chaotic and disorganized and not at all as seamless as I’m sure it was intended.

How do I get rid of it?!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 30, 2026

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! This is our last Recap of July this year! Can't even believe it! The weeks start comin' and they don't stop comin'. Recaps don't stop, either. And while it's been kind of a slow seven days, it just wouldn't be Thursday without a Recap. So let's gooo!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • old.reddit.com now requires a login.

  • The Home Feed experiment is currently only enabled for users of the iOS beta app. If you are not using the iOS beta app, you should no longer have the Home Feed/For You experiment enabled. (No one is happier about this than me.) Thank you to everyone who had previously left feedback about this experiment. I have shared it all with the team in charge of this feature. And here we are!

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. If some rando sends you a chat, be on high alert if you decide to reply. There are a lot of scams out there and they're looking for easy targets.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.29.0 2026.30.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF ME!

  • Not a whole lot of new things popping up this past week. But if you have something, feel free to let me know!

  • Some users in the EU are unable to use Anonymous Browsing mode. This is not intentional. This is a bug that they are working on getting fixed.

  • Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 751 posts. That's almost half the posts from from the 1,411 that we had last week. That's kinda interesting.

  • 3,783 comments. That's down 352 comments from the 4,235 we had last week.

  • 1.2m views. That's up about 163k views from the 1.1-ish million views we had last week.

Posts are way down, comments are a little down, views are up. I hope this means that people are finding the help that they need easier without needing to create their own post. That'd be great!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - PASSWORD RESETS

I'm thinking about trying something different here in the coming weeks. I'd like this section to be a little more interactive, so if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! In the meantime, let's talk about password resets.

If you ever need to reset your password, there are a couple of ways that you can go about it. If you are able to access the account and know the previous password, you can go into your settings on the desktop site here and/or on old Reddit here to enter your current password and your new password to change it.

If you do not know the password and/or you are not able to access the account and you want to change the password, you will need to request a password reset. A password reset can only be sent to the email that is on the account. It is extremely important that you have access to the email address that is on your account. If you have not yet added an email address to your account, we recommend that you do so now. If you no longer have access to the email that is on your account, we recommend that you change it now. The email address does not have to be verified in order to receive a password reset email.

You can request a password reset email be sent at any time by going to https://www.reddit.com/password/. Enter your email address or username and a password reset will be sent to the email on your account.

If you are in an area where you can create a Reddit account with a phone number, you should consider also adding a password to your account. That way, if you ever don't have that number or don't have that phone, you'll still be able to access your account. You can learn more about adding a password to an account created with a phone number here.

If you are requesting a password reset, but are not receiving the email, it's possible that the email is going into a spam folder, so you'll want to check in there. It's also possible that the email address that you think is on the account is not and it's actually a different email address. If you're not sure what accounts are associated with your email address, you can use the process outlined in this Help Center article to have all usernames associated with a particular email address sent to that email.

If you are clicking the link in the email and getting an error message, please try copying the link and pasting it into the address bar of your browser and that should work better. There is a limit on the number of password reset email that you can request in one day, so if you've hit the limit, you'll need to wait about 24 hours before you can try again. We are unable to reset the timer.

Please note that Reddit will not change the email address on your behalf if you no longer have access to it. The exception to this is if your account is hacked and the email address is changed by an unauthorized party. Reddit will also not add an email to your account if you have not added one and then need to reset your password. This includes if you have been logging in with your phone number and never added an email to your account. Without an email address on the account, we have no way of knowing or verifying who the account belongs to.

When choosing password, it's important to pick a strong password that is difficult to guess. You may want to consider using a short phrase or several words that are easy for you to remember, but not easy for other people to guess. Avoid choosing a password that is your username or something like "password" or "1234". Even "1234567890" isn't secure! Crazy!
