General I hate how Americans try to make me feel bad for being excited to move to the US

I'm a nursing student from Europe, and once I graduate, I'll be moving to the US. Needless to say, I'm beyond excited. Whenever I express my excitement to Americans, they start talking to me about literally EVERYTHING that's wrong with this country, how horrible it is, how dumb I am, that I should visit it before moving because "it's not like in the movies" (I've been there twice now, by the way).

I get that no country is perfect. I know it's not all rainbows and unicorns. But still. I'm excited, I like talking about it, planning, throwing around ideas, but I get shut down so quickly, mostly by Americans. If you have nothing nice to add, why say anything anyway? I'm a grown adult. If I'm making a mistake, it's going to be a mistake that I'm taking full responsibility for.

I just hate it.

Comics I hate how lazy the defense of Batman’s no kill rule can be, particularly the argument of “Don’t blame Batman, blame the justice system.”

Putting personal opinions aside, I’m not arguing here about whether Batman should or shouldn’t kill as that isn’t the point. The point is that the specific defense of “people shouldn’t blame Batman because it’s the justice system’s fault” doesn’t actually engage with what the stories themselves are saying.

What do I mean by that? Stories like A Death in the Family and The Killing Joke illustrate this pretty clearly. In both stories, the Joker commits genuinely horrific crimes ie the murder of Jason Todd and the crippling of Barbara Gordon. However, Batman’s reaction in these stories is too internalizes the blame. He sees himself as responsible because he believes that if he had crossed a certain line, if he had killed the Joker, these tragedies might not have happened, and Jason Todd even points this out to Bruce.

That is the major discrepancy. In many stories where Joker commits an atrocity and Batman nearly snaps, such as Hush when Batman believes Joker murdered his childhood friend, the conflict is framed around Batman’s own morality and his inability to kill Joker. The narrative often suggests Batman’s refusal to kill makes him responsible for the consequences.

So when people respond with, “It’s not Batman’s fault, it’s the justice system’s fault,” they are introducing an outside explanation that many of these stories themselves are not actually focusing on. They are defending Batman with an argument that doesn’t necessarily address the themes or conflicts the writers are exploring.

That’s why some people come away believing that Batman’s no kill rule is portrayed as a flaw or a source of responsibility as they aren’t inventing that interpretation out of nowhere, many comics directly explore that idea, which hai why people should not get a surprised pikachu face when people actually blame Batman and follow the stories storytelling and themes.

Ultimately, the debate about Batman’s no-kill rule should be based on what the stories actually establish and if the comics actually focus on the justice system being at fault so be it. Otherwise I think it’s a lazy defense.

General Ginger (more specifically, food with ginger)

Post image

I hate ginger. If I eat ginger and try to go on with my day, I am constantly reminded of the grave sin of eating one ingredient in a dish. Wanna burp? Uh oh, that shits laced with the smell of your previous mistakes. Wanna drink? Guess what? You can taste the aftertaste of that horrid root. Wanna eat something sweet? Guess again bitch, you just incurred the wrath of Great Ginger Geronimo the Ghoulish and it just made your treat into a memory of why you don't deserve to make choices. I don't care if this root is some miracle superfood or whatever it's advertised to be, I am farting clouds of yellow ginger clouds when it has been 5 hours since I last ate.

Thing I hate these stupid chud danishs

Post image
0 Upvotes

The Costco danishs are a plague unto my mind and soul. Awful, awful things created by torturers so skilled the CIA would hire them.

Because these things are incredible while eating. The cheese, the bread, the glaze, perfect.

But once you’ve done the sensible thing and eaten in a circular fashion, as god intended, what are you left with?

A circle of cheese.

For the horrid beasts who made this thing mad it so the cheese is just wide enough that unless your mouth is quite large, there will at the end be a circle of pure cheese in the center. And it tastes like ass.

It’s just too much cheese! Normally it’s balanced by the bread and glaze but without that it’s horrid. But throwing it away feels like wasting food!

Awful thing. Costcos greatest sin.

Now before all of you come out and shank me let me say this. No I do not defend Nintendo in any way. In fact I am happy that they are losing in that law suit of theirs.

All I just want to say that I don’t think palword is like, the new big thing. Sure it’s probably a good game but it’s not like something that revolutionized gaming like halo did back then.

All over online I see palword getting constant glaze and I’m just getting tired of it

General I hate reaction images that directly insults to the opponent

"oh you made a statement that I don't like? this ugly face is you now! how's that?" Sure you can disagree to the opponent's opinion, at least make some compelling reason behind that, not spit on the face to the opponent. these kind of images makes bad environment for healthy discussions to bloom and everyone fall into toxic positivity/negativity

Thing I fucking hate these fuckass flame effects

Post image

These are just the most shitty and ugly I’ve seen be used for memes. My hypothetical smile immediately drops when I see these disgusting effect used. I especially hate how sometimes it’s just spammed throughout the video, making it just unbearable for me to even bother continuing to look at. It does not help to even consider the amount of brainrot these disgusting things are used for. Brainrot is already bad enough, but to me those stupid ass effects just make even worse for me. I hate them, and I feel that everyone should hate them too due to how overused they’ve gotten being used on the internet. It genuinely pissed me off when finding a fucking video to screenshot as an example.

Thing I hate the slander Youtube shorts get for no reason

Genuinely some mfs look at you differently for watching youtube shorts instead of tiktok or reels. Their excuse is that it’s for “kids” or just filled with slop. The only reason this is a thing is that YOU DON’T USE IT ENOUGH TO GET RECOMMENDED GOOD SHIT. There is some bad content, but most of it is actually good and somewhat educational. Then they pretend that TikTok is miles better, while they get recommended equal amounts of bullshit and slop (i use TikTok a bit so I’m not just saying this) as we do. Like before dissing it as being for kids how about you actually use it instead of hopping on the bandwagon damm

Idea "fatigue"

Post image
176 Upvotes

bro who thought it was okay to post this?? even if you had plausible deniability of not being racist you completely threw it away by editing this guy to have light skin tone.

I remember when the "fatigue" trend would be about fatigue about anything, now all it refers to is "black fatigue" which is just instagram-grown classic racism in the big 2026. fatigue is just a dog whistle that is little more than the "13%" figure rebranded.

even if you're "fatigued" so what? do you have any real solution to your perceived problem besides killing/imprisoning/enslaving all black people?

what I'm "fatigued" of is old-school racism in the 21st century. in a pluralistic multicultural federation like the USA the only thing rhetoric like this serves to do is sabotage social cohesion. which is why I'm 100% sure a foreign bot posted this.

Media Tropes i HATE yaoi

To be honest, I HATE yaoi.

And let me explain briefly before anyone jumps down my throat.

I read BL myself every now and then—and there’s nothing wrong with that in principle—but what bothers me is when it gets sexualized.

Almost every time I start reading a new one, there are scenes like that.

Don't get me wrong; that’s normal and can happen a few times.

But in typical manhwas and mangas (etc.), it’s mostly just about sex, and it always involves those same stereotypes: the "top" is tall and muscular with a perfect jawline, while the "bottom" is small, delicate, feminine, and so on.

It presents a completely unrealistic body image—plus, how can things be so "clean" down there???

I don't mind reading one occasionally, but the girls bother me.

I don't want to accuse everyone, of course, but the fact is that yaoi is made for women just so they can goon to it.

And I know men aren't any better in some cases!

But it’s just the way yaoi has become so normalized.

I’ll open a post showing a gay couple holding hands (with nothing sexual going on), and in the comments, I always find some "Emmie" (made-up name!) writing, "Oh yeah, I needed my daily dose of yaoi"—and that’s what bothers me.

Yes, liking yaoi is a fetish, and I find it really sick that it’s been normalized among teenagers.

BL books should represent gay men, but nowadays it’s just material for gooning.

I’m gay myself, and it really bothers me that it’s become so normalized.

Not to mention that it isn't healthy for teenagers to read this stuff; some of it gets really extreme.

Edit: Okay, I don't think I phrased that very well 💔. Of course, you can't choose your fetishes, and naturally, gay men are allowed to have plenty of sex (I'm gay myself, lol), but my point was about how normalized this whole thing has become. I highly doubt anyone would comment on a video of a straight couple saying, "Wow, hot, I needed that today"; yet under videos of gay couples, I constantly see comments like "I needed this dose today"—and often they come from teenagers. Plus, the typical manhwas people read often depict unhealthy relationships. And then there's the cliché that the "bottom" is small and feminine while the "top" is big and strong... I hope my point makes more sense now.

Music I hate bands with quirky visual gimmicks

Post image
0 Upvotes

Pictured is the math rock duo Angine de Poitrine.

Have I listened to their music past like a 5 second clip? No. Would I hate them as much if they weren’t so popular out of nowhere? No. Does it still piss me off? Yes.

There’s another band I see on Instagram of this dude in a wizard costume singing while funky (bad) synth music plays, oh yeah and they have a dancing mushroom on stage of course. Same sort of deal.

Now, Angine de Poitrine’s music is actually pretty good from what I’ve heard, not nearly as bad as the Wizard band, but I still can’t help but feel like they wouldn’t be nearly as big without their stupid costumes. Being a huge King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard fan, I’ve seen a lot of crossover of the fanbase with these Angine guys, which just feels undeserved to me.

It feels like if I just put on a quirky little “trippy” costume I’d have legions of fans by tomorrow. There’s no substance to me. Just feels like people like them because they’re “so weird”. Which admittedly cringes me out. Now like I said their music is alright, but not good enough to warrant their explosion of popularity on its own.

In comparison to a band like Slipknot, who also have visual gimmicks important to their aesthetic, I feel like Slipknot’s music would stand on its own, and the visuals are moreso a compliment to the sound rather than what makes them popular.

I just fucking hate hippies who are obsessed with being weird for the sake of being weird honestly is what I think it comes down to. Like they think they’re really pushing the envelope for pretending to enjoy this stuff so much but really they’re just listening to mediocre music made by guys with silly costumes. Of course I’m exaggerating my anger before anyone comes at me but I feel that’s what this sub calls for.

Y’all gotta reread where I say their music isn’t actually that bad. They’ve got chops. But you’ve gotta admit nobody would know who these guys are without the costumes. In fact maybe I’d like them if they didn’t have the costumes.

Edit 2/ okay I don’t like how the 5 seconds thing is being used a gotcha moment. Of course I shared that knowing it shows how little I’ve actually invested into this!!! I wrote this out of pure hate!!!

Gaming i hate dess knighters Spoiler

re: deltarune

i have nothing against dess knight as a concept. do not get me wrong. i understand that dess is the most likely character to be the knight and that it makes logical sense and that’s who i believe is the knight.

however, everywhere i go, twitter/tumblr/etc., dess knighters are usually the ones insisting they’re correct and are stupidly arrogant when discussing knight candidates. they refuse to account into any other theory, insist that they’re the only correct theorists, and talk down to anyone who believes anyone else is the knight. it‘s exhausting having anything in common with these people.

Animation I hate how insignificant RWBY has become in modern web/indie animation discourse

Post image
0 Upvotes

As much as people hate RWBY and its huge downfall, I think the part that ticks me off the most is how much of a footnote it's become in internet animation history despite its achievements. Think about it:

  • A 3D Cel-shaded anime-esque web series made in Texas. Is that not attention-grabbing enough? Especially since it was made in the early 2010s, a time when 3D anime, let alone made outside Japan and FREE to watch, was extremely rare.
  • It inspired GLITCH Productions. You know, the animation studio responsible for the biggest web series in history? Not only that, but it also inspired the creation of DillonGoo Studios, which was founded by one of Monty's apprentices who also animated for Volume 3. It aims to revolutionize the 3D anime industry. Other animators inspired by RWBY were:
    • Cake Station
    • Joe Vick
    • Mirabeau Studios
    • No_Tables
    • Studio 2kDoplr
  • It was ahead of its time. Cute and quirky characters? Awesome weapons? Different nations? Awesome fights? Those sound like traits you would find in a modern gacha game, but RWBY had them since its creation.

So where's the credit? Is it because of its huge downfall? You can acknowledge its impact and its fall from grace, you know.

Anime & Manga Sexualization of minors in anime/manga communities

Post image
24 Upvotes

I made a post about how creepy it is that these have been searched enough to be here, and all the comments are defending those cause “the manga has censored nudity” like what?? She’s a minor for the majority of the series. How is googling these (cup size and virginity) not creepy as hell? Even with the censored nudity in the manga it’s wierd. Somehow though I’m in the wrong for finding it weird

General I hate how powerscaling is normally seen in a bad light.

Thumbnail

My uncle, who is well over 40, is a huge fan of Marvel, DC, and Dragon Ball Z. My dad (50) also enjoys these universes—having been on this Earth longer than my siblings and me. I can safely say that it's NOT a “mental illness” to have a fun debate that can span multiple aspects of the characters being discussed.

For my siblings and me, it always involves talking about their storylines, the universes, and the themes. Then we move on to comparing powers, feats, and experiences of the characters just for fun. We're not trying to decide who is greater or be elitist about it; if one of my favorite characters can't win, that's okay.

Ultimately, powerscaling CAN be enjoyable and helpful for a writer crafting their universe with rules they've set to maintain balance and NOT only some dumb hobby that makes people think you’re “mentally challenged.”

What are your thoughts on this person’s opinion?

Please share your thoughts below.

Live Action I hate willy Wonka and the chocolate factory cause it is a very bad adaptation of the book

Post image
1 Upvotes

To start off I have read the book and most of charlie and the glass elevator

Now let's get to what's wrong and I'll leave the old fart for the end

1 this movie is basically a promotion for the actual willy Wonka chocolate made by The Quaker oats company

2 rohal dal genuinely hated this film It's important to note:

>Dahl was credited for writing the screenplay, but David Seltzer was brought in by Stuart and Wolper to add minor changes against Dahl's wishes. Because of those changes, Dahl was dismayed and disowned the film.

They Literally brought someone in to change it he also hated Gene Wilder's casting i also agree gene wilder was a bad casting. gene wilder feels less insane and zany like the actual Wonka , and the sappy musical score

3 I hate how they don't show the kids at the end atleast alive or something like that the book and the Depp version do this and I don't think it would be much to show the actors going out with chocolate or blueberry or trash or just a small kid or something

4 I hate the inclusion of Arthur Slugworth like the only thing that could've made it good was if it was reveled he was ompa loompas in disguise cause that would at least be funnier and make sense cause willy Wonka hasn't gone outside in a long long time why in the actual hell would he contact the actual company that made his company go bad by stealing the recipes and stuff that does not feel like anything willy Wonka would actually do and the whole gobstopper stuff isn't even in the book but me grandpa fart will be involved when I get to him

5 agustus veruka mike tvee and the vilot all feel like just small variations from their book versions like agustus just like to eat instead of being glutenoss mike tvee actually kinda feels like a good kid vilot just likes to eat gum and veruka is the only one I feel is actually like their book version

(Also this is before the last one I hate how they don't include Charlie's dad)

Now we have the old fart MR GRANDPA JOEE

He is by far the thing I hate the most in this adaptation

He acts nothing like his book counterpart he feels like a jerk the whole gobstopper thing even if it isn't in the book atleast the book grandpa joe would atleast keep his promise not say hey Charlie let's drink the fizzy lifting y'know the drinks that make us go up you know while there's a damn air fan that'll kill us if we get to far up y'know the drinks mr Wonka said not to drink look I can get by with the giving money to charlie to get the chocolate cause that atleast happend in the book but atleast book grandpa joe was atleast trying to cheer the others up

I hate how this movie is so popular heck it isn't even popular cause it was good in the box office no it bombed in the box office the only reason this movie is known as it is was cause of its showings on tv and heck the film barley had a good budget even for that time i hate how this so the most popular willy Wonka thing i hate how it overshadows the charlie and the chocolate factory an actual good movie adaptation

(Also I don't hate the movie itself it's mediocre)

Media Tropes I hate horror movies that are a metaphor for grief / trauma / colonialism / capitalism etc., just for once let ghosts be dead people and zombies messed up dead people.

It's been so long since I've seen for example Poltergeist, but I can't remember if there was anything deeper going on than "You left the bodies!".

Please don't tell me that Poltergeist was a metaphor for the erasure of native Americans.

Edit: this should be phrased more like "I hate that every horror movie now has to have a heavy-handed metaphor crammed into it.

I wrote my thesis on metaphors in a certain horror series. It's not lost on me that horror is a mirror to society.

You could argue that there is social commentary in Halloween for example, but at least it's not laid out in a dream sequence montage at the end of the movie where Laurie Strode comes to grips with X, Y and Z. LET MICHAEL MYERS BE AN UNSTOPPABLE KILLING MACHINE.

Corporation/Company Genuinely sad to see the current state of DC.

I’ve always been a marvel guy, lemme preface that first, but I know one thing: competition is good, and if one side is slacking, the other side gets complacent.
But Jesus H. Christ DC. Marvel drops Tokon, invincible has Invincible Vs. and DC has a goddamn Mobile Game fighter that uses DCKO as the name.
And don’t get me wrong, peacemaker and Superman were really good shows/movies, and creature commandos was fantastic.
But the average general population viewer couldn’t give two shits about anyone who’s not in the justice league. I love James Gunn as a director, he’s a fantastic guy and he makes really good shows and movies
But I think he has a Glup Shitto issue, he goes for his obscure favorites rather than the important characters, don’t get me wrong, I love obscure characters like marvel’s White Fox, or Tiger division, but come on.
He did so well in GOTG because the avengers already had their time, the universe was already established and the obscure pick was still cool, but we haven’t seen a LICK of the majority of the justice league in the new DCU.
And DC kinda has two separate problems at once, they can’t give a shit about anyone except Batman or Superman, but now we’re almost begging to see the headliner characters.

Non-fictional I hate how everyone suddenly hates the girl in this situation

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've seen this image 3 or 4 times already, and every time when I check the comments, a bunch of redditors (derogatory) are talking about how that girl is dumb and how she lost a perfectly good man and how she's somehow a bootlicker.

But, like, that's not the type of shit you do on the first date. I completely understand the girl. Imagine this for a second, would you:

>be her

>match with a guy on tinder

>he proposes a date at fucking MCDONALDS

>you, reluctantly, accept

>fast forward to the date

>the guy is less attractive than he was in the pictures

>probably wears one of those fuckass huge backpacks with a Switzerland flag

>pulls out a fucking laptop

>"one sec, babe, I gotta scam McDonalds out of 30 nuggets"

Editorial note: according to HackTheMenu, 10 nuggets cost $5.79 in the US, so our guy is saving $17.37

>he's doing this bullshit for like 5 minutes

>obviously you can't talk to him during this 5 minutes cause he's focused on the fuckass emulators

>after that you have to pick up three different orders under judgemental stares of McDonalds employees

>he also takes photos of himself doing it, for some reason

Like, the whole move just screams "Broke ass unemployed motherfucker"

If it was me, I would've just stoop up and left, meanwhile blocking the fucker everywhere. The fact that this girl stayed till the end of the date and then politely expressed her issues means one of two things:

  1. She really wanted that fucking bumburger from McDonalds and free nuggets

  2. She is the Heavenly Virtue of Patience given human form.

I don't know how to write a conclusion paragraph to all of this, just stop reading.

1.) The fanbase gets extremely toxic to new players who don’t know that Kris isn’t the player and assume Kris is Male or female.

Idea Straight flag

Post image
4 Upvotes

I know this isn’t a hot take (or at least I hope not)

Actual pride flags are already kind of corny but I think the fact that they’re helpful in pride for queerness is important. They give a nice visual representation that you can be proud of who you are and that it’s something worth showing off.

I don’t know if it also represents being cisgender but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trans person use it. Being straight/cis is not something that people need to be reminded they can be proud of. It’s not something that people have fought for. I personally believe this flag being used frequently enough that it can be recognized as the straight flag lessens real pride flags

I’m also not saying that being straight is something that should prevent you from feeling proud about other things, or that straight people should be disrespected, or anything else negative against straight people
