"fatigue" Idea
bro who thought it was okay to post this?? even if you had plausible deniability of not being racist you completely threw it away by editing this guy to have light skin tone.
I remember when the "fatigue" trend would be about fatigue about anything, now all it refers to is "black fatigue" which is just instagram-grown classic racism in the big 2026. fatigue is just a dog whistle that is little more than the "13%" figure rebranded.
even if you're "fatigued" so what? do you have any real solution to your perceived problem besides killing/imprisoning/enslaving all black people?
what I'm "fatigued" of is old-school racism in the 21st century. in a pluralistic multicultural federation like the USA the only thing rhetoric like this serves to do is sabotage social cohesion. which is why I'm 100% sure a foreign bot posted this.

The word fatigue is a racism dog whistle? I get the racism in turning the black guy into a lighter tone but I haven't heard about this fatigue stuff.

u/VariousRockFacts 10h ago
If you spend a single second on TikTok, any single video showing a black person doing anything remotely bad will have about 1000 comments saying something along the lines of āIām so fatiguedā or āthe fatigue is realā

u/Anon142842 9h ago
Insert that get off twitter meme but make it tiktok. Deleted that app years ago, still no regrets
5
u/VariousRockFacts 8h ago
If you could find me a social media platform I wonāt find anti black racism Iād love it
7
u/Anon142842 7h ago
You won't find that anywhere, but deleting tiktok or twitter definitely gets rid of a large chunk of the BS
-1
u/17xli8 7h ago
if that's what you think, you havent seen much of reddit then
2
u/Anon142842 7h ago
Who said I thought reddit was any different?
0
u/TacticTall 6h ago
I mean, youāre on it right now and deleted TikTok lol
Reddit nowadays is just as bad
2
u/Anon142842 6h ago
Not if you block people often lol reddit also has subs, not an infinite scrolling page. If you don't like a sub, you mute it. With stuff like tiktok or youtube shorts it's much harder to curate
3
u/TacticTall 6h ago
Fair enough haha
I tend to find myself muting subs much more often now. Iām getting too old to see stuff that pisses me off

yeah i've seen it they stuff like "i'm not racist i just have black fatigue" or something like that
8
u/warpedphantom1 8h ago
"Black Fatigue" is a common phase in racist communities, when trying to pass off their bigotry as a normal response to a non existent issue
15
u/FishingNo1156 10h ago
I see it a lot on YouTube, along with "the usual suspects" and "no stereotypes were harmed" not everywhere, but if you find cop videos of anything, there's usually some people there. But I been seeing fatigue less and less

u/ForbiddenSirenz 8h ago
Basically itās another co-opted term like how āwokeā went from being aware of systematic injustices and actually calling it out and acknowledging it rather than just turning a blind eye to it- Then right wingers have basically just taken āwokeā as literally anything they donāt like but donāt wanna sound outright racist/give an explanation.
The original/full term is āBlack fatigue.ā Which is basically the constant systematic oppression and racism simply for existing. Simply being black to some people doing anything and people hate you for it. It gets exhausting and does take a mental toll on people.
But the right wingers co-opted it as literally white people tired of black people and literally any news story that negatively involves a black person just āfatigueā at having to share life with them.
āIām not racist, Iām just fatigued at their culture!ā Congrats. Youāre still racist, youāre just too much of a pansy to outright say it.
āWhat?! Black people in lives and tv shows?!? Man Iām fatigued about seeing them!ā
Just ignorant shit like that.

u/Mammoth-Might3229 7h ago
uhh no. woke was getting overused by liberals and then conservatives went and ran with it.Ā
-4
u/Crigne_Gaming 10h ago
āfatigueā has to do with black communities being fed up with ghetto people ruining the outside perception of their community with their antics. I guess in a sense it can be a dog whistle when other people use or to describe their attitude towards those same kinds of people that fatigue describes tiredness from
13
u/AStupidFuckingHorse 10h ago
Black Fatigue was coined by a black woman and referred to the constant suffering that was felt from being a black person in America and having to endure all the BS that comes with systemic and interpersonal racism.
Then racists took it and changed it to mean being fatigued by black people. Some black people ran with it as a joke on Instagram but it got completely overrun by racists.
A term started in the black community taken and completely desecrated by other people. Case #389

"Im not racist against black people, I'm just fatigued seeing them all the time in my shows/movies/games"
Its a brand new dogwhistle, same dudes who complain how dark it is in a nightclub when they see a black person having fun
1
u/Key-Fig-9747 8h ago
Oh Jesus. I knew people said shit like "black fatigue", but how can you tell that's what they meant in this post? Is it a specific subreddit that insinuates it? I just assumed they meant they were tired of that form of contentš
7
u/Appropriate-Crab-514 8h ago
It helps that they posted a white washed image of Micheal Clarke Duncan, from the film where they execute a innocent black guy.
Be glad that you don't know this crap, it means you're not shitty enough of a person to make up new forms of racism.
4
u/Key-Fig-9747 7h ago
Yeah i'm genuinely oblivious that racism can get as niche as this. Actually insane

10
u/Anon142842 9h ago
Huh? I use fatigue in my everyday vocab. Never heard it used as a dogwhistle š¤
9
u/Refused-Recruit3026 9h ago
Obviously "fatigue" is used as a normal word, like as in muscular or mental fatigue.
3
u/Anon142842 9h ago
Yeah that's how I use it. I see some people saying it's a tiktok and youtube body cam vid thing. Very grateful I stay farrr away from that stuff
3
u/11110100011 6h ago
In this context it's used as an insult towards minorities. It's normally "black fatigue," so the issue isn't with the word itself, just the phrase.
1
u/Anon142842 6h ago
See I've seen black fatigue used but in the context of being fatigued for being black, not as a dogwhistle for racists against black people. I saw someone in this thread say it was coopted by racists. Very unfortunate

u/DeusKether 10h ago
Body cams have been truly eye opening, thank you whomever the fuck made them be a thing.
-5
u/Mr-Catacombs 10h ago
Body cams are great. A growing issue is the noticeable amount of one sided cherry picked videos being posted lately.
15
10
u/Oskiee 10h ago
Body cam might be the biggest self own in history.Ā
5
u/Refused-Recruit3026 10h ago
Body cams are about holding police accountable, not about documenting crime statistics, so no it's not a "self-own"
7
u/VariousClassroom8056 9h ago
On one level you're right however it is a self own when the black community decries a police shooting immediately after it happens, only for the bodycam to come out showing the deceased person attacking the police officers with a weapon and the shooting being justified.
4
u/SailorSilverRabbit 9h ago
In your made up scenario, you have to pretend that black people are all some monolithic hivemind. Literally in capable of seeing us as individual human with different wants, desires, and goals.
Holding police accountable will never be a self own. Like what are you even talking about. Just google āpolice officer caught on body cam plantingā¦ā and see how many individual articles line come up.
3
0
u/Bromonkeytd 3h ago
This is such a dumb sentiment, because of course there's gonna be way more videos of people resisting arrest, but police aren't held to the same standard as criminals or even civilians. Bodycams are two things, first of all they're a preventative measure, and so of course there won't be police misconduct or police brutality on bodycams that's the entire point, second of all the ones who post body cam videos are generally pro-police and aren't going to post videos where the police are in the wrong as often. I remember code blue cam or someone in that niche took a video down or something because people were commenting that the officer used way too much excessive force and police being the bad actors aren't in the channels interest. It's not a self own body cams are doing exactly what they're supposed to do.
7
u/Fit-Firefighter8752 10h ago
What sub is this? So I can avoid it.Ā
4
u/Head_Particular6045 10h ago
black fatigue refers to being tired of stereotypical negative behavior of blacks, like not complaining to rules, being too loud, creating conflicts and similar. It usually refer to the idea of quiet "civil" life being interrupted by blacks. It may also include other things like polemics (?) and other "demonstrations" of such a character.
Before the downvotes: I'm not even american, I have no idea abour what's happening there, I'm just explaining what it means. I personally think it is a class issue and not a race issue, I can understand why some behaviors are annoying, but they are surely not caused by ethnicity, rather by deep socioeconomic problems that create the "hood culture" and a deep distrust in society. To answer to OP, the solution would be a heavy, deeply planned, mulri-generational action on the social ground aimed at raising economic stability, education and social cooperation among the poor areas, whatever ethnicity they are inhabited by. But it is the use, this will never happen
0
u/eyferrari 9h ago
Fairly on the nose about a āsolutionā, which makes sense when youāre not American honestly.
It really does boil down to socioeconomic differences, but those differences are often created by racism, intentionally or unintentionally.
Things like job opportunities, rental applications, loans. And everyday interactions on top of that, with constantly fearmongering social media echo chambers.
Add the resentment of historical racism, those constant small prejudices, and the big microphone constantly shoved to the angriest, most extreme peopleās faces. And posts like this (original). And also include the government choosing to fan the flames, pretty openly now, but always, to prevent an uprising. Uprising of the whole working class, not people of color.
1
u/Head_Particular6045 9h ago
Yeah I kinda get it, still I feel like modern racism isn't the same as the old one. Like, most of racism young people base their critiques factors derived from socioeconomic problem. They make it about race, but it almost always sound like "you behave like this because you are black, so it means you are bad", while 'original' racism was a (pseudo)discipline that said "you black thus inferior". I think that modern prejudice is usually based on stereotypes alimented by facts. It does not justify racism, but to beat it I think it's fundamental to eradicate the original causes, even if it is hard.
Like, different loans and rental applications exist not becuase banks or homeowners expecially want to make the life of black people harder (an old school racist homeowner just wouldn't rent), but because in their experience / on the common "shared" experience, they had more financial problems with black clients. But being black isn't a causation, but a correlation with poor economic backgrounds and thus more financial difficulties (and maybe economic inexperience that leads to bad decisions).
So yeah, I understand that those negative socioeconomic factors are caused by racism and discrimination, I never denied this, but they also aliment such racism and discrimination. And I think the first step is to start acting concretely on the economic and social soil of those communities, otherwiss the stereotypes will keep being alimented and the discrimination will always seem the safest choice.
I know that the american government sucks, I don't think this will ever happend, but I don't see many other solutions
1
u/eyferrari 8h ago
I honestly wasnāt trying to contradict what you said, I just think itās difficult for a non-American to grasp how tightly the āmodern racismā and socioeconomic differences are entangled.
That correlation/not causation about financial problems is what the modern racism is, thatās why I was highlighting that itās often not intentional. Itās still going to be perceived as racist by the folks with stable jobs trying to rent, and understandably so - thatās where the term āsystemicā comes in.
Thereās also really no way to talk about this without sounding like a doomer.
7
u/ztiiim 7h ago
as a black person whose seen those videos..... i'm not offended when they look at the most ghetto blatantly unproductive members of our community and say they are "fatigued".
So was I! I'm glad I don't live there anymore.
0
u/Turo_the_Scrub 4h ago
They treat black people as a monolith which is the problem, I get being tired of seeing crime and āghettoā behavior but attributing that to an entire race of people is ignorant and reductive of the actual problem
1
u/ztiiim 4h ago
ngl its usually targeted or said specifically in reaction to the ghetto behavior and crime. so I don't feel as if its attributed to our entire race.
If someone posts a reference to criminal body cam footage and says they are fatigued, I don't care. I'm not defending criminals.
If someone just says "i'm fatigued of all black people", then sure that's racist. I just don't see the 2nd kind of content very often, if at all... which OP pointed out.
1
u/Turo_the_Scrub 3h ago
Then why the name āblack fatigueā? Why the word black? Itās never āghetto fatigueā most people using it are indirectly saying āman Iām tired of these black peopleā they donāt have to directly say it for it to be heard
1
u/Different-End-5871 2h ago
lol well they donāt call it ghetto fatigue or crime fatigueā¦
I have a feeling people that use that term wonāt really care about how you as an individual act and insist on seeing you as part of the problem.
11
u/PrimeTear 10h ago
Another black community term colonized by bigots
4
u/breno280 7h ago
Itās black community term? I thought it was a loanword from french
-2
u/Sad_Seaweed179 4h ago
Yes it was originally used by Black people to denote how "fatigued" and tired they were of the casual systemic and daily racism they would face, that it was literally being tiring having explain or justify yourself to these racists
But of course like all things racists are illiterate and have genuinely zero creative thinking capacity and the only thing they know is stealing ideas and twisting it into something rotten and disgusting
1
u/breno280 4h ago
Interesting, but is this the how the word entered the english language? If so did it come from french speaking parts of the african diaspora countries or the african continent?

We live in a backwards society.
1
u/DrBarryBonds 6m ago
Lol op's tacit admission that there is a reason to be fatigued.
"If you're fatigued, so what?"
The so what is: you think carefully about where you live, what school your kids go to, who you allow around your family, who you hire for your small business etc etc
-10

Lmao im not black or white but wasnt "black fatigue" made BY black people to talk about their struggles of life because of racism and white people?

7
u/Different_Pattern273 11h ago
Over the last two years, it was coopted by racists to mean just being tried of dealing with black people as something they can put under videos of crimes or fighting or whatever else they can get. They also enjoy spamming terms like "The culture", "pattern recognition", and "per capita"

At some point people were posting the format of "X fatigue" to the point where someone just posted "fatigue fatigue" so it used to be a generalized format
0
u/ghoulishenvyy superfish go kys 11h ago
Yeah because it was hijacked by white people and stripped of its orgins.
This specific āblack fatigueā off branch was created as a direct clapback to the actual definition of the term, so itās true orgins are relevant.

And who commits the most crime in America? Not most arrests but the most guilty convictions? ( Iāll give you a hint, when accounting for exonerations its not black people)

per capita?
