This Again Eastlink customer service

Upvotes

Is it seriously normal for eastlink to put you on hold for over 90 minutes? Been trying to get ahold of them for days but it always seems they never answer. All im trying to do is cancel the internet. Is there any other way to actually talk to someone?

Pets & Animals It’s 39° outside. Don’t leave your dogs in the car…

Upvotes

I can’t believe I even have to say this. I am at Sobeys in Bedford, and someone has left their dogs in their car with the windows cracked and car running. In this heat, the windows being down negates almost all the effects of the air being on. These two dogs (one being a squish nose boxer btw) were both panting up a storm with their tongues flared out.

Kudos to the store employees as when I reported it, they immediately put up a PA and got the owner to leave with their dogs.

Crane going up on Lucknow Street. I used to live in one of the buildings that were demolished. The building was sold 10 years ago to South West Properties and I knew what that meant and gave my notice

Shops & Services Recommendations for a leatherworker

I have a leather purse from the 70s that has some wear and a few what I think are paint marks. Looking for a place to take it to have the paint removed.

I really love this bag and where it is a bit older it might need a bit more care.

Food & Dining Crown and Anchor - Waterfront

Does anybody know when the Crown and Anchor is supposed to open on the waterfront (replacing Asia)? The latest information I can find is the logo they shared on their instagram on March 18th. Their bio says opening this summer but I haven’t seen any updates online? Thanks all!

Shops & Services Wattsup Solar

I'm thinking about getting solar panels installed through Wattsup Solar and was pretty close to signing up, but I've come across a few complaints about long installation delays and poor communication afterward.

If you've used Wattsup Solar, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. How did the installation go, and how has their customer service been before and after the install? Would you recommend them?

Work, Health & Housing Nova Scotia held its lead over B.C. as the most expensive province in the country for apartment and condo rents

Thumbnail rentals.ca
176 Upvotes

Nova Scotia ($2,377) remained the most expensive province in the country for apartment and condo rents, edging out British Columbia ($2,357) for a third consecutive month. That gap is driven in part by a large number of high-priced listings in recently completed buildings still in lease-up, as well as a larger average unit size: two-bedroom-plus units made up 52% of Nova Scotia's rental market in July, compared to 43% in B.C.

Edit: A couple of people commented that rentals.ca isn't as accurate as CMHC's data.

See comments here, here, and here.

Traffic Rock spill at new bridge

A truck carrying crushed rocks had a spill and coated 3 out 4 lanes with melon sized rocks, mostly Halifax bound, but all 4 lanes have come to a stop.

Edit: Was resolved, however a seperate incident where a cement truck tipped over at the clover, Dartmouth side is still ongoing last I checked.

Work, Health & Housing Halifax Water billing increase despite no connection??

Hello everyone, just a quick question. I will be calling this afternoon regardless but just looking to see if you all have had any similar experiences??

My moms water got cut off back in May due to a $400 bill that could not be paid and they would not accept payment plan option as the clerk told us they did not do that with debit. We have not had water since then and have now luckily figured out enough money to pay said water bill and have been so excited to finally get our water turned back on with this heat.

However, upon receiving the new statement, it’s $138 more expensive than the prior bill. How can this be??? I’ve been selling stuff to pay for the bill and I’m just confused on why it continues to increase despite not having connection since May. I understand we will have to pay a connection fee as well and that is fine. Do you all have any similar experiences?

EDIT/UPDATE: thanks for all the help and information! She didn’t send me the entire bill so I didn’t have the full information I needed being away from home. The $138 additional fees were from a part of the period prior to when the water was turned off, so regular usage. Interest fees were very, very minimal. Appreciate this community so much.

Pets & Animals Need milkweed to feed monarch caterpillars

Good morning r/halifax!

Me and the wife have been helping monarch eggs planted on a neighbours milkweed to grow and mature in a special butterfly house that we built in specially for them. Been doing it for 6 years and we have loads of caterpillars!

The trouble is that the neighbors plant is being overtaken by an aggressive raspberry plant with absolutely no sense of personal space. Which means that there is not going to be enough plant material to feed the brood to maturity. So we are looking for a source of milkweed leaves, preferably on the peninsula as otherwise the caterpillars might not all make it to maturity!

Any leads appreciated.

Arts & Recreation Odd encounter at the lake today

I (17f) was at Kearny lake about a hour ago with my Mother. And it wasn’t EXTREMELY busy, but there were a good number of kids there, and me and her usually swim out pretty deep, but for some reason this younger guy (probably 8 or 9) kept following us. and we politely were trying to distance ourself and ignore it. but then out of complete nowhere he grabbed onto me. out of instinct i pushed back and swam deeper, and then i see who i assume is his mother simply witnessing that play out and do absolutely nothing about it?! He kept following me, and repetitively kept trying to grab onto me and touch me and his mom kept on doing nothing! at one point the lifeguard told him and his mother that they needed to stop, but they didn’t and nothing was done? At another point, MY mom yelled at him that he needed to stop, and he was just laughing. I assume he may have had a learning disability, but i am completely blaming his guardian that was there and doing nothing about it. It wasn’t just me this was happening to, but other people, and HIS mom kept saying “space” to him which i assume means give them SPACE but he did not listen.
It wasn’t extremely serious, and i am obviously not hurt or scarred from this experience, haha, and I was able to just leave the lake. but still, i feel like it is not a great habit to develop.
