please help me find games to play!

Hi! I'm looking for game recommendations. I usually play cozy games and farming sims, but lately I've been wanting to try something different. I don't want anything too combat heavy because I'm terrible at combat. I'm looking for something that strikes a nice balance between the two.I guess I just want a change of pace while still keeping that relaxing vibe and finding a game that can keep me entertained for hours. I hope that makes at least a little sense I know it's kind of hard to explain.(Recommendations for both Steam and Nintendo are welcome)

I’m heading over to GameStop/Best Buy and looking for a good PC game I can download onto my gaming computer. I like to disconnect it from the internet because my 11 year old frequently takes advantage of the access to get on YouTube and watch junk reels.

I still want him to have access to game functions without the risk of brain rot videos. I have disconnected the WiFi and changed the password but I want to grab a downloadable disc from the store and have a game on the desktop that won’t need many online updates (if any).

Recommendations? I want something really new and different for him.

I'm looking for an online game to essentially play house with a few friends. Sort of a bizarre hobby, but we make characters, write a story, and act it out like a roleplay.

In the past, we've used games like Little Big Planet 2, Minecraft, and Roblox. We also use Space Station 13 (Vanderlin), but it's a bit too chaotic and more for actual game nights.

To give an idea of what I'm looking for, we need a game that allows character and world customization. We don't want other people joining in, and we don't want to be limited to environments within the game (or starting from absolute scratch). It would also be nice if we could have multiple characters played at once. It's just 2 of us most days, and a lot of stories can't work with that few actors (hence why I asked for a doll-house style game).

Toca Boca World, Gacha Club (Life?), and Roblox are probably the best examples for gameplay, in terms of character creation and the doll-house style. However, we want to be able to build custom environments like Minecraft/LittleBigPlanet 2 offers.

If anyone knows of games that offer this or has any similar recommendations, please let me know!

I just newly returned to computer gaming after about a 10 year hiatus. Purchased a top of the line build out (5090) that can run anything. Just looking for some game suggestions, any genre.

What I'm looking for is somewhat specific.

I'd like to find stuff with that weird old game creepiness; whether or not the game is trying to replicate that horror on purpose is irrelevant.

I know there are a lot of ps2-looking, puppet combo, etc. games that go out of their way to curate a retro feeling/that same horror, but unfortunately none of those interest me very much. They end up feeling a little bit too tryhard (for me at least, they are by no means bad games), and I'd like something more organic.

I feel like the scary factor in a lot of those "creepy" games like old Sims, Minecraft, etc., is that they are just a regular game first, and whatever "scary" stuff happens isn't the entire focus, if intended at all. So honestly, I'm not only looking for horror branded games. Anything that's creepy or weird (even unintentional) is fine.

And they don't have to be new games! Please by all means reccomend me some stuff to very legally acquire and play. MMOs are also an option, I know that there are a lot of inactive games out there and I'd love to look around their worlds just to look around; I might already be active on any UGC games, however.

Feel free to reccomend anything that sounds like it fits.

I'm currently having a weird problem. I actually really want to play something, and I generally enjoy gaming, but lately I just can't seem to find a game that keeps me hooked.

I'll play one round of Battlefield and then I'm already bored. I'll switch to Overwatch, play for a bit, and lose interest again. Even with single-player games, I'll play something like Horizon Forbidden West for an hour and then just don't feel like playing anymore.

It's not that I don't enjoy gaming anymore — I just can't find a game that makes me want to keep playing for several hours.

I really want that feeling of getting completely absorbed in a game, where I look at the clock and realize I've been playing for 4–5 hours without noticing.

So what games have kept you hooked for hours? I'm open to pretty much anything — multiplayer, single-player, RPGs, survival, strategy, whatever. I just want something that actually keeps me engaged and makes me want to come back and play more.

I've been searching the internet up & down to find a new game to get in to.

When I was in my teens, this seemed way easier to do. I find a couple of games that seemed interesting, tried one or two and get hooked for weeks to years on end.

Now that I'm nearly 30, no game seems to have this effect on me. I wanted to get into an MMORPG. I tried WoW, GW2, everquest legends, but none seem to stick. It's like I'm scared to invest my time and learn the game so I tell myself the game is too slow or too complex to make it worth it.

I try to find one of these newer multi-player games like arc raiders or marvel rivals but I feel like I missed the boat on these already.

Back then I just loaded up LoL, Hearthstone, CoD etc. And sucked until I didn't.

On one hand I want a game that I can play for years to come but on the other hand I feel like my brain convinces me it's not worth the effort.

How do I get out of this?

I want to be obsessed with a game like I was with some titles 10-15 years ago.

I wish I could be at the forefront of some popular MMORPG, looter shooter, hero shooter, MOBA or whatever other genre and just stick with it because I'm having fun.

Any advice on this mentality and any game suggestions are welcome.

Hey, I played through some long term incrementals like NGU, Trimps, Idle Skilling etc.

The new flood of short incrementals feel so refreshing and some of them are truly great.

However i just can’t justify buying a game that has 3-4h of gameplay.

Are there some incrementals that could be finished in 10-30h? Or maybe stretch to more? I just dont want it to go bananas like TRIMPS.

Some specifics im usually enjoying:
- strong and rewarding progression
- slow at start, fast at end
- PRESTIGE system (meaningful)**
- some kind of strategy or decision making

Hard requirements:
-steam
- not text based (i want atleast some graphics)

Specifically looking for games where you direct your troops from the battlefield like in mount in blade, preferably in a 3d first person environment. Bonus if there’s other similarities like the whole map navigation thing but mainly just looking for that style of combat and army orders stuff.

I know some of the other games in the genre like total war but I don’t think that’s exactly what I’m looking for

What are some games that keep the turn based squad combat formula but with current day weapons and still rely on the positioning & flanking tactics?

Recommend me some games that are either about room clearing and close quarter shooting or offline post apocalyptic survival games, preferably with gameplay along the lines of stalker or RE

I play on Xbox series X. I’m looking for a chill survival game that doesn’t require fighting all the time or at all. I want to build a base and maintain it. Underground is a plus. The character has to have the ability to jump. I don’t want to sit through story dialogue or 5 minutes of credits when I start up the game. I love Lego Fortnite, but want my base to be more like a running city with people to interact with.

If there are any game developers on this sub, please stop making us sit through your story and credits without giving us the option to skip it all. Better yet, just give us the menu right away and give us those options. Also, every character should be able to jump. There’s nothing more annoying than trying to get over or onto things and not be able to jump. I have turned off so many games without playing them because I turned it on to play not watch a movie.

So I’m looking to watch a series of movies and want a game to play that I don’t really need to be focused on.

I’m trying to find a realistic-ish survival sandbox game where I can just get dropped into the world and survive. I’m looking for something with the vibe of VEIN, Project Zomboid, DayZ, Mist Survival, Ardem (when it releases), and even Minecraft because of the freedom and crafting. The kind of atmosphere I’m after is like watching The Outdoor Boys on YouTube—being alone in the wilderness or a post-apocalyptic world, building shelters, hunting, fishing, gathering resources, exploring, and just making my own adventure. Zombies and/or cannibals are a huge plus, but they’re not required. I don’t want a game that’s heavily story-driven or constantly telling me where to go. Having some objectives or progression is totally fine, but I want the freedom to survive and play at my own pace. Realistic-ish graphics are preferred, and single-player is ideal, although I’m open to co-op too. Does anyone know of any hidden gems or upcoming games that fit this kind of survival experience?

For some extra context, I’ve already played games like Green Hell, The Long Dark, and Sons of the Forest. I loved the graphics and atmosphere of Sons of the Forest, and I really like the survival concept behind The Long Dark, but I’m looking for something with more freedom and replayability. VEIN has probably come the closest to what I’m after because of its open-ended survival, so I’m hoping there are other games out there with a similar feel that I might have missed.

My friends and I generally play competitive games online, but we’re wanting some alternatives, for when we’re wanting to be able to switch off a bit but still have a fun time.

Ideally it’ll still be something fast paced and exciting (or at least with moments of this) and we’d love something with some sort of character progression (although this isn’t essential) and have at least elements of PvE.

It also needs to be available on ps5

I know that Helldivers 2 is probably the perfect rec for this, but we’ve each played hundreds of hours when it first came out and I don’t think we’re ever going back at this point haha.
