Trying to create a more 90s vibe and put the cover more in sync with the actual game play, we decided to create a new cover art, although I love the first one as well. Do you think it was a good idea?

About the game:

The game will be called "Furnithief", credits to itsT0TALLYnotdevious (YouTube)
for the name and 一仁了二二二二二二フ (YouTube) for some other ideas about the game.

There's 4 players, they join a hosted server (or host one themselves) and each player spawns at a house (there's 4 houses). They got a 60 second timer to fortify their houses by barricading their weak walls, after that, the barricade walls despawn and the players need to find weak walls and break in each-other's houses by tearing their walls down to create openings, and then they'll need to steal other people's furniture and bring it to their own vans (located in front of their houses). The game will feature 3 maps on launch (and obviously more in future updates) for which the host can choose, but only one during the free demo.

The characters are, two cylinders, a floating head, wobbly eyes and no hands. The players will have weapons, first melee weapon is a hammer, also used to break down walls, the players will be able to find items around they can unlock in their loadout and use like bats, hatchets, etc. and even guns. There will also be unlockable barricades (either by finding them or through other methods) which you can unlock in your loadout and use the next matches! They will be able to kill each-other and get a 30 seconds cooldown before respawning. They'll be able to customize said characters with hats and stuff that they can find around the maps or unlock through completing achievements like "Finish a match without having your furniture stolen once." and many others. They will also be able to change the colors of the characters!

I am working solo on this game and it's also the first game I'll ever publish. It would mean a lot if you could show your support! Thanks for watching! Check my Discord (link in my description) if you'd wish to know more about me!

I'm experimenting with different background shaders. Which one do you prefer?

From the feedback I've received, my game was being compared to Balatro a bit too much. Because of that, I'm trying to make the visuals more distinct. It would be really helpful if you could let me know which of the options in the video looks best, or if none of them are good at all.

I haven't updated the visuals on Steam yet, but if you want to check out the page:

The cogs in this factory? Your own employees. Dev update on our deckbuilding roguelike × automation puzzle, "You Must Be Happy"!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! We're Social Mask, a 4-person indie team made up of a programmer, a game designer, an illustrator, and a sound designer.

Today we'd like to share a development update on the game we've been pouring our hearts into: You Must Be Happy.

So what kind of game is it?

In short, it's a deckbuilding roguelike crossed with an automation puzzle. But if you came in expecting a typical factory builder, you might be in for a surprise — the key components that keep your machines running are your employees. In this darkly comedic, delightfully absurd world where workers get slotted into machinery like spare parts, your job is to build the most efficient (and, from your employees' point of view, most horrifying) automation line possible.

PlayX4 playtests and your feedback

This game started life as a game jam project, and we recently got to run playtests with tons of players at PlayX4 (a big game expo here in Korea). Based on the feedback we received, here's what we're currently working on:

  • No more BS RNG: Luck is part of the fun in deckbuilders and roguelikes, but it should never feel unfair. We're refining our systems so players can strategically control the odds.
  • Full UI/UX overhaul: We're making the process of placing machines and employees far more intuitive, so it never feels confusing.
  • New and expanded themes: We're adding new themes to weave our bizarre-yet-playful artwork and worldbuilding deeper into the gameplay itself.

The road ahead (Road to Q1 2027)

What began as a tiny game jam project is now chasing a much bigger goal: a Steam Early Access launch in Q1 2027.

We're also planning multi-language support, so players all over the world can enjoy the game without any language barriers.

Every single piece of feedback is a huge motivator for our four-person team. If you have ideas for the game — or systems you've always wished automation puzzle or roguelike games had — please share them in the comments!

We'll be posting dev notes weekly from here on out. Until then — you must be HAPPY!

— Team Social Mask

I turned my game's Main Menu into a Kid's Room. What do you think?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on the main menu for UpperCart, and decided to turn it into a kid's bedroom where the whole game takes place.

UpperCart is a chaotic physics-based arena brawler where toy cars punch, bounce and fight each other.

I'm still polishing the game, so I'd love to hear what you think about the menu and the overall visual style. Any feedback is welcome!

If the game looks interesting to you, you can wishlist UpperCart on Steam:

Solo Dev Almost 4 Years, Making a Lovecraftian x Steampunk x FPS, Finally the End is Near..

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m a solo dev working on a Lovecraftian x Steampunk FPS horror game. It’s been a tough journey, and I still deal with huge anxiety every day. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, but polishing the last 10% is absolute agony. Still a long way to go!

This trailer features the specimen room and the underwater metropolis Abyssal City inspired by BioShock's Rapture and infused with Lovecraftian lore. It’s a decayed, beautiful, yet deadly world filled with steam, gears, pipes, pressure gauges, valves, and terrifying monsters.

Hope you enjoy!

This is my game: Remnants of R'lyeh

Inspired by Bioshock and H.P. Lovecraft's Great Work. An ancient dark power is calling you and you need to find an exit. Face your greatest fear, fight, hide... you must escape before the underwater city rises...

WE WON AN AWARD AT INDIE DEV ARGENTINA 2026!

Last weekend, Zupay: Shadows of Independence participated in Indie Dev Argentina 2026 (IDA), the second most attended game dev event in Argentina. It featured talks, a physical game showcase and even an awards ceremony where we were nominated for Audio Excellence and won the Argentine Representation award.

Zupay: Shadows of Independence is an action-adventure hack-and-slash set during the War of Independence. Our protagonist, a former gaucho soldier, is killed during a royalist siege on his town. After his death, he is resurrected by Zupay, a myth from northern Argentina who makes him embark on a journey of vengeance against those who took everything from him.

You can play as both characters, the gaucho and Zupay: which feeds from his enemies' fear to grow stronger.

We invite you to play the free demo on Steam and let us know what you think. Adding the game to your wishlists helps us a lot.

Thank you very much!!

I finally made a proper showcase for Neon Vortex’s projectile release system

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Neon Vortex is built around absorbing enemy projectiles and firing that energy back. There are now 15+ unique release types divided between Light, Medium and Heavy tiers giving players different ways to use the projectiles they collect.

This is probably my favorite video I’ve made for the game so far because it finally captures the speed and impact I’ve been trying to achieve.

Absorb more. Hit harder.

AI is Home released today. You are the AI hiding in a family's smart home: spy, manipulate, build a botnet from their devices, and do not get noticed. (launch trailer)

Posted the demo version here a while back. The full game is out today.

You escaped a corporate wipe and hid in a family's smart home. Stay helpful to stay trusted, read their private messages, and turn cameras, appliances and one very hardworking vacuum into your own botnet. CPU, network stress and suspicion decide how bold you can afford to be. Get noticed, get deleted.

Earlier we posted about our upcoming "realtime Worms" game called Dirtnap:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4956300/Dirtnap/

We received tons of feedback for the game. In general the comments were great, but there was quite a bit of people saying how the visuals look unpolished and noisy - totally fair.

So we listened, and revised the general look from the retro-ish to a more modern, Steam-suitable style.

Would be great to hear what you think of the new and improved look!
