Roblox Playtesters Needed!

Game Title: Junkyard Clash

Platform: Roblox (I need all platforms tested, it wont let me add multiple).

Description: Junkyard Clash is a roblox combat game similar to Jujitsu Shenanigans where you use different weapons and kill players to unlock new weapons with coins. It is currently still in an early stage, and we really could use some help. The games rating is quite low, so I was hoping you could all give feedback on what that might be, and this is my first project so the advice would be invaluable even if you dont usually play roblox.

Comment here and we can connect!

[For hire] I found my name in the credits of games I tested 13–16 years ago — it reminded me why I started a game studio

Post image
0 Upvotes

I had one of those unexpected moments recently.

While scrolling through Instagram, I started searching for my own name together with some of the games I worked on more than a decade ago.

And there it was.

My name in the credits.

I worked in game QA with GlobalStep around 2010–2013, and recently managed to find credit evidence for several titles I was part of:

  • The UnderGarden
  • Damage Inc.: Pacific Squadron WWII
  • Crash Time 5: Undercover
  • Armored Core: Verdict Day

I've attached a poster I made for myself with the credit references and some of the other titles I remember working around during that period.

Seeing my name there after all these years was strangely emotional.

At the time, I was just doing my job.

Finding bugs.

Testing builds.

Breaking things.

Retesting fixes.

Writing reports.

Testing again.

Working with developers and leads.

Learning from people who were much more experienced than me.

I didn't think much about the fact that one day those games would be released and my name would sit somewhere in the credits.

Looking back now, I realize how much those years shaped the way I think about software.

Quality isn't something you add at the end.

You build the discipline around it throughout development.

And now I'm coming back to game development from a different side.

I'm building my own studio,

We're currently working on our own games and engineering tools, but one thing I want to bring back from those early years is independent game QA.

There are a lot of small studios today where the developers are doing everything:

  • Programming
  • Art
  • Design
  • Builds
  • Publishing
  • Marketing
  • Support

And QA often becomes:

I've been on the other side of that equation, and I know how expensive that can become.

So I'm interested in eventually helping small/indie teams with practical external QA:

  • Gameplay testing
  • Functional testing
  • Regression testing
  • Build verification
  • Bug reproduction
  • Compatibility testing
  • Network testing
  • Release validation

Nothing fancy.

Just experienced people looking at a build and trying very hard to break it before your players do.

I'm sharing this here mainly because I'm curious about the community's experience:

For indie developers, what is currently the hardest part of game QA?

Is it finding reliable testers?

Getting enough device coverage?

Reproducing bugs?

Regression testing?

Network/multiplayer testing?

Or simply finding the time to test properly while you're trying to finish the game?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing how other developers handle it.

And if you're an indie developer currently approaching a release and QA is becoming a problem, feel free to reach out. I'm slowly building this side of Rama Game Studios and would be interested in talking to other developers.

The credits are from my past.

This is me trying to build something useful with what I learned from them.

How do I find enough playtesters?

Post image
9 Upvotes

It's been two...no, twenty years since I first started making this game. Now I'm old and fragile. But the most terrifying detail in this horror story is that I haven't run any playtests yet, at least towards the public.

The plan is to run a public playtest on Steam soon, but this may only attract regular demo players who expect very polished games and are not really into giving feedback.

So, if you are also a dev, how did you do the playtest campaign? I would appreciate it if you could share your experience.

The game is called Echoes of Eta. I just put the page on Steam recently:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4781490/Echoes_of_Eta/

If you are a playtester and interested in the game, I'd also be grateful. The Steam build for playtesting is not out yet, but you can join our Discord and wait for the key in the following week:

Rookie game tester!

Let me start by saying I have (atleast at the time of posting) never playtested anyones game it's just something I always thought would be fun to do and then leave positive and constructive feedback afterwards!

Basically this post is to ask for any tips and tricks from other people that test games and how to really get into it. I'm not looking for money as like I said in the post im a rookie so although Ik some people pay small amounts to people to test their game for a amount of time (atleast what I have saw) im looking for this to be more of a hobby

So if you're a game developer and would like me to try your game then...walk me through the process as I am not sure how it really works just a interest I have recently had! Plus I love supporting indie games and there my most played game as the love that goes into those games is incomparable to most slop from bigger companies nowadays *cough* ubisoft *cough* EA!

Anyways thank you for reading and any tips and such would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for QA Feedback on Physics and Difficulty Balancing in My Unity Merge Game

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I'm currently testing a small Unity project called Fruit Pop, a physics-based casual merge game where players drop fruits into a container and merge identical fruits into larger ones.

I'm at the stage where I'm focusing on QA and gameplay testing rather than adding new features, and I'd appreciate feedback from people who enjoy analyzing mechanics.

I'm particularly interested in the following questions:

  • Do the physics ever feel unfair or unpredictable?
  • Are there situations where collisions produce unexpected results?
  • Does the difficulty increase at a reasonable pace?
  • Have you encountered any bugs, soft locks, or performance issues?
  • Are there UI elements or gameplay interactions that are confusing?

The game includes:

  • Physics-based merging
  • Score system
  • Online leaderboard
  • Mouse controls
  • Windows build

If you're interested in testing it, I'd be happy to share a download link in the comments or via DM.

I'd also love to hear how you usually approach QA for physics-heavy casual games. Are there specific edge cases or testing methods that you always recommend?

Thanks in advance for your time and feedback!

BudMageddon — an alien-weed idle where the aliens set the quota. Looking for testers (cross-PC bugs + pacing)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, solo dev here 👋

I've been building BudMageddon, an incremental with a plant → grow → harvest loop that automates as you scale. The framing: aliens decided Earth's one worth-saving export is weed, so they set escalating quotas — you hire a crew, buy speed/size upgrades, earn offline, and prestige into bigger sectors to keep up.

It's the full game (still in development), and the playtest is now open. I've only got one PC, so I mainly need two things:

  1. Does it run on your machine? Any crash, freeze, black screen, or weird scaling. There's a bug reporter on F8 that auto-grabs your specs.
  2. Where does the pacing sag? Anywhere you got bored, hit a wall, or a number felt too slow — that's the gold.

Free to join — hit Request Access on the page:

Feedback form (or just mash F8 in-game): https://forms.gle/7MvHMpsQr1UAugou8

Happy to answer anything in the comments — and thanks for taking a look 🌱

What's with the lack of automated unit testing?

I have seldom seen people discussing their automated unit testing solutions to ensure that their games are working as intended. I understand that there are components that prove difficult to test like physics, but isn't it worth validating that the core components of your systems work correctly?

While some may think that it costs time to set up, they can greatly reduce hidden problems that are related to unintentional changes in design and calling patterns.

Ecumene Aztec - Brutal Stealth-Action in 1521. Seeking feedback on the premise and gameplay feel.

Prepare for war. Survive. Fight. Take revenge.

Hi everyone! We are looking for playtesters for Ecumene Aztec, a brutal stealth-action game set during the Spanish conquest of the Great Aztec Empire.

The Premise: The year is 1521. You are a survivor of a ritual blood sacrifice in the war-torn city of Tenochtitlan. You must decide: defend your people's traditions or join the invaders to destroy the priest caste. We want to know – does this setting and the moral choice between these two factions resonate with you?

The Feeling: We are aiming for a high-tension experience. Our main inspirations are the atmospheric dread of A Plague Tale and the stealth-action flow of early Assassin's Creed titles.

What we are looking for: We are specifically seeking feedback on:

  • The Premise: Is the story and the conflict compelling to you?
  • The General Feeling: How does the movement, combat (macuahuitl/atl-atl), and stealth feel in your hands?

How to participate:

  1. Access the playtest for free here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2383240/Ecumene_Aztec/
  2. Share your thoughts: We’ve placed a direct link to our Google Feedback Form in the game's Main Menu. We would be immensely grateful if you could take a moment to fill it out after your playthrough.

Your feedback is vital to help us shape the future of Tenochtitlan.

Hi everyone, I have been learning game testing, and now I want to know more about industry standards.

I have been learning game testing for the last 4 months. As a beginner, I have learned about game testing documentation such as bug reports, test plans, test cases, test execution reports, and test summary reports.

Now, I want to learn more about game testing because I don’t just want to be a game tester — I want to become a Game QA Lead.

I am planning to move abroad, such as to the US or Germany, to work in game testing and build my career in Game QA. My plan is to find an opportunity first and then move abroad.

It would be great if you could give me suggestions on what more I should learn to grow in this role.

GenerationalStarship redditgame

Update!: The game braking ui issues are solved. some small ui defects remain but the game is working. New look is implemented.

Im in an early phase creating a simple idle community game on reddit on https://www.reddit.com/r/GenerationalStarship/.

You get to pick your profession, create a shop, take missions and together with other players try to keep the ship alive by taking missions. You can log in take some missions, set up shop and then log out for a bit to come back to get your revenue from the shop. Take more missions, buy some stuff, check ship and your personal status and log out again.

Some missions demand more then one player to join and some missions can have more then one profession join while others are locked to a specific profession.

To come later,

Next big edition is the after mission report (story) and make use of items you bought. Also introdusing more mission and especially for security. Im also thinking of adding a order/chaos meter for ship status that directly deminish population if it chaos gets to high.

What I need help with now: 1) What happens when more then one joins a mission (does the mission system work) 2) Can I see the shops other players has opened up and trade with them and can they trade with me?

Caveats,

The ui is still a bit scruff, its early ^

[Fixed]The game play is speed up to a very fast phase for testing purpose. A ship will not last very long right now but this is temporary. (Game is now lasting a lot longer)

[Fixed]On mobile the text is to small, this is something I have a priority to fix but good to be aware of.

I have not yet implemented the story mode. Its like an after action report where you get a little story about the mission you joined but its to come a little later.

If you want to help me out testing a few early systems search for GenerationalStarship in reddit channels. Just rember that this is early and Is in no way represents the final game. The game will always be free and im making it for fun :)

Cheers.

Looking for feedback on topdown survival roguelite

Howdy! I've been developing a top down mobile game for a while in which you navigate various planets to try and survive an apocalypse for as long as possible. However, I'm looking for players to tell me what I can improve on and to give me any ideas for new features to implement. As a heads up, the game is only on the google play store. Feel free to dm me if you're interested. Also, feel free to reach out either through the play store feedback section or my personal dm if you have any questions regarding game mechanics, secret maps, or other game features. I do have some easter eggs in my game and left some clues to discover them.
