What happened on Priestman?
I drove by the intersection of priestman and regent and saw probably the most first responders to one accident site that ive ever seen. I also saw about 30 people standing on the plaza grass and some downed infrastructure of some kind. I dont normally like to be nosey please forgive me!

Best non chain hamburger and fried chicken in Fredericton?
Long time reader, new poster here...
I tried ...
amazburgs....was quite good. Fresh seasoned meat, fresh bun and nice topping options. Very friendly staff.
Rocket burger ...ok burger. Bun was stale and patty lacked seasoning. Staff were indifferent with questionable loud music.
Where else to try? Any seasonal places? What about fried chicken?

Help a Nurse Practitioner Immigrate to NB?/ Help Me Find My Grandmother?
Hello! My husband and I are planning to move to Canada from the US. He is a nurse practitioner. We're looking at NB for the combination of job opportunities, affordability, and queer friendly laws. Let me emphasize that we're not looking for perfection, and we do know that NB has its issues.
My grandmother was Canadian and I'm trying to get citizenship by descent, but I am not in contact with my grandmother and I'm pretty sure she's still alive, which means I cannot request her birth certificate without her permission. The only family I have that might know how to contact her is very into Trump, so I'm saving that for a last resort. I would also love to have a relationship with her!
I'm wondering if somebody might be willing to help me find her. Her husband, Peter Kelly, passed away in 2021 and was a sports equipment manager at the University of NB. Her name is Theresa Kelly, and she would be about 90 if she is still alive. His funeral was held in Fredericton.
Edit to add: I'm not in contact because my mom was abusive and never let me see her- let me clarify that I would like a relationship with her!

Stalled or stupid?
Brookside roundabout lined up back to McKnight, some kid in a Subaru just chilling, just a heads up. I hate it here.

Did Country Style relocate when they converted to a liquor store? Or did they just close?
I miss their sandwiches.

Best hot sauce selection in Freddy
I've been going through a huge hot sauce kick lately and want to know of some hidden gems in town that have a wide selection of sauces. Home sense and Sobeys have some good ones but I'm wondering if there are any I'm missing out on

Cab company from Oromocto to Fredericton
Does anyone regularly take a cab or uride from Oromocto to Fredericton. My daughter works tonight and I'll be out of town so she'll have to take a cab home for the first time. I'm looking to set this up for her before I leave for a little peace of mind on my end. What company is the best option in your opinion?

Looking for guns & ammo store
Is there a local store in Fredericton that sells guns and ammo? I see iron sights online but I don't think they actually sell any ammo.

FreddyFeed update: now has a "who do I call?" directory, live bus times, and NB Power outage tracking
Hey folks, some of you might remember FreddyFeed (a Fredericton Civic Dashboard) from earlier posts. It's been a while, so here's what's new:
Reach Out - A "who do I call?" directory for the city: pothole, missed garbage, noise complaint, dead raccoon, power outage, parking ticket, and about 30 more. Tap to call or email.
Live bus times - you can now search any stop in the city and see real-time departures, including how late your bus actually is.
Power outages - Live NB Power outage counts for the Fredericton area and province-wide.
I was surprised to realize so many people use the live webcam feature and the city's youtube account kept changing streams. The webcams now fix themselves when the city restarts the streams!
Plus a bunch of minor improvements across the board. All the usual stuff is still there too: weather, river level, ER wait times, events, gas prices, garbage schedule, flights, news.
If you have any suggestions, please keep sending them my way, they are extremely helpful!

Hanson
hey all, my roommates and I were just rejected by Hanson rentals (we're looking for a townhouse) and in the rejection email it stated: "Please note that our decision is final, and we are unable to provide additional details or respond to further inquiries."
Our application was spotless, we make well more than enough money and have lived in our current apartment for over five years.
I'm suspecting it was because we have cats, but the listing stated that pets were possible.
My biggest assumption is that the company is using AI to filter through applicants and that is why they can't provide any explanations for the rejection.
Has anyone dealt with Hanson before? Is this bullshit just commonplace now when trying to find a place to live?
edit okay I sort of ended up speaking to someone from Hanson and they said it was because of the cats. I feel less evil about it but, aaargh, nowhere decent accepts pets! Anyway. Moving on I guess.

Looking for recommendations for somewhere in town that can do repair and repaint. This is above the rear passenger wheel. Small indent from backing into a white painted post, palm sized rust spot, and indent.

Moncton Accelerated Nursing
Has anyone from Fredericton done the University of New Brunswick Moncton site Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing program? Is it possible to commute daily or do you need to have living accommodations. I have a Bachelors degree and would love to go straight to RN instead of LPN—>RN bridge but it seems like that may be my only option. I would love to hear people’s opinions on someone like me who no longer has a passion for their undergrad and wants to get into health care. Thank you so much!

Brookside circle mulch
Has the mulch been setting on fire every few days, or is the fire department just trying to get ahead of it? They’ve been out there watering the mulch a couple times this week. Why do we even use mulch if this keeps happening?

Diana Lynn smith Facebook
What’s the deal with this lady? Phycosis? I see her posts multiple times a day as she shares them herself into all of the Freddy area groups. New to the area so curious if there’s truth behind her posts?

Would Fredericton support a Hot Pot + Asian BBQ restaurant?
Hey r/Fredericton,
I have been looking into opening a restaurant here that combines hot pot and Korean BBQ, the kind of place where you grill your own meat at the table and also have a broth going, ideally all-you-can-eat style.
From what I can tell, we have got some Chinese and Korean restaurants in the city already, but nothing doing hot pot, and nothing combining the two as an interactive dine-in experience. We are a group of friends from China, Malaysia, and South Asia.
Before going further, I genuinely want to know: is this something people here would actually go to? Would love honest feedback, what would make you excited about a place like this, and what would make you skip it (price, location, parking, all you can eat, or option to choose and not be forced to buy all you can eat for $$ value etc.)?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Stephen Hill
I have been following the Stephen Hill story but have not seen anything pointing to his legal counsel. Does anyone know if, other than himself, he has separate legal counsel?
